We have 2011 GMC Terrain. We bought it used so we have only had it a couple years. We noticed it seemed to be using a little more oil but then we were told to keep watch on it. My husband did. Then one day while I was driving it I thought I had heard a faint clicking noise. I said that car isn’t going anywhere until it’s fixed. Little did we know it wouldn’t ever start again. We didn’t know about a so call recall or not a recall. Still until we had to have it towed in to be fixed, I heard it mentioned. By then the car was repaired at our expense of $8000+. We are retired and don’t have or didn’t have money for that repair. The only reason we had a little money was because my husband got paid for back (lump sum) payment just a couple of days before this. We still owe on the car. Without it we only have an old 2001GMC SIERRA 1500. We live paycheck to paycheck. I called one of GMC’s phone numbers today and I was told if we didn’t have it done at a GMC FACILITY we get NO reimbursement. I cried. My husband is a real stickler when it comes to our vehicles and maintenance and logs and also keeps receipts. Please tell me there is some to help us.

We have been keeping up with all maintenance and oil changes. We have only driven the car for less than a year. At time of oil change; the oil has been low, resulting in OVER oil consumption; Requiring an extra quart of oil to be added between oil changes. When we purchased the vehicle, there was an strong exhaust smell; The shop that we bought the vehicle stated there were no issues and we have taken it to them multiple times an hour away from our home. The car completely shut off while my minor son and I were driving. Placing both of our lives at risk! It would never start back up. Now the car has seized and requires an engine replacement. It is sitting at a local garage while we wait for the dealership to help us, to no avail.

I HAVE THIS 2022 GMC TERRAIN WITH 19,000. MILES ON IT. IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY BY 2 MONTHS AND NOT YEARS OR MILES. ON 6-23-23 THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO NAPELTON GMC FOR A RECALLED FUEL PUMP FLOW MODULE. IT WAS FIXED AND THE RECALL WAS CLOSED. HOW EVER NOW 9-2-2025 WITH 19,000 MILES I AM EXPERICING THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN. IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEAL AND DIAGNOSED WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS TIME THEY ARE NOT COVERING IT BECAUSE THE RECALL WAS COMPLETED. HOWEVER I FEEL THAT WITH ONLY GOING 13,000 MILES SINCE REPAIRED THEY SHOULD BE COVERING IT AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME THE REPAIR COST IS "TO LITTLE" TO OFFER ANYTHING. THE COST WITH THE TOW IS AROUND $762.00 . i WAS TOLD BY GM "NOT THE DEALSHIP" THAT IF I SUBMIT A TICKET SHOWING THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THEY COULD LOOK AT OTHER COMPNESATION OPTIONS. PLEASE HELP. I ONLY AM ARGUING BECUASE THIS WAS A RECALLED ITEM THAT HASNT LASTED VERY LONG.

My 2013 GMC Terrain suddenly began to jerk as I was heading to run an errand in town. I pulled my truck back in the drive way at [XXX] where it is parked now. I had a mechanic to come and tell me the engine will need to be replaced and an estimate of the cost to repair it. I could have been rear ended by another vehicle since this suddenly occurred with no prior warning which could result in my death. I have contacted GMC due to a recall on the engine. GMC is declining to honor my request repair my vehicle based on the estimate I provided. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Terrain. The contact stated that the transmission was previously replaced. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated. The failure had occurred intermittently. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving approximately 15-20 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond for approximately 1 minute. The vehicle was taken to the Nissan dealer it was purchased several times. The dealer retrieved diagnostic trouble codes: P057C and P057E, and the brake pedal position sensor was replaced twice; however, the failure persisted. The Nissan dealer took the vehicle to a GM dealer, where the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to TSB Number: PIT5994 (Diagnostic Tip for Reduced or Low Engine Power on Acceleration). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 78,843.

GMC Consumer Relations Subject: Structural Undercarriage Safety Defect – 2012 GMC Terrain SLE Vehicle Information: Year/Make/Model: 2012 GMC Terrain SLE VIN: [XXX] Mileage at Purchase: 148,305 Date of Purchase: [XXX] Location: Rochester, New York I am filing a complaint regarding a severe undercarriage safety defect in my 2012 GMC Terrain SLE. The rear undercarriage of this vehicle shows heavy structural corrosion on suspension brackets and mounts. The condition produces clanging noises during normal driving, and an independent licensed mechanic has refused to work on the vehicle because the suspension integrity is unsafe. When I returned the vehicle to the dealer, I observed additional brackets being attached under the rear subframe area, suggesting reinforcement of compromised structural points. This confirms that the corrosion directly affects suspension geometry, alignment, and stability. This corrosion is not cosmetic. It is advanced structural deterioration affecting the mounting points for trailing arms and lateral links. These components are critical to safe turning, stability, and control. The corrosion compromises the ability of the suspension to keep the wheels aligned, creating serious risks of loss of control or wheel separation. What makes this more alarming is that the vehicle passed a New York State safety inspection on 07/13/2025, yet within days a mechanic refused to perform unrelated service because of the undercarriage condition. This raises questions not only about inspection validity, but also about the underlying durability and corrosion. - #11687417September 15, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
While driving my 2020 GMC Terrain (VIN: [XXX] ) with approximately 110,501 miles, I experienced a sudden and complete loss of brake assist. After about 2 hours of highway driving, I exited and the brake pedal became extremely hard to press, making it very difficult to stop. No warning lights or messages appeared before the failure. The dealer diagnosed the cause as the brake booster vacuum pipe exploding internally, which immediately eliminated vacuum to the booster. This created a serious safety hazard and nearly caused a crash. I have since had the part replaced, but the fact that this component can fail without warning at highway speed is alarming. GM has issued TSB 21-NA-107 describing this exact failure mode, which indicates it is a known issue. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The windshield wipers quit working while driving during a down pour; some piece to the motor broke. This can cause severe injuries and even death due to the fact that it caused me to not be able to see where I was going and what was around me and could have driven off a high ramp. It hasn’t been inspected by anyone yet. There were no signs, warnings, or messages stating a failure may occur. This issue is available for review if requested until I get the car in for repairs. Will request to keep the part that is repaired Incase it’s needed for review after the fact.

While working out of town for work my engine light started flashing and the dash lights went nuts. My brakes were nonexistent and were hard as a rock. I had zero warning as to what happened. Working 3 hours away from home the car had to be towed and I was informed the engine code came back as my cam shaft. Took it to the dealer as Gm has a bulletin put out. I didn’t know what that meant. Long story short and 3000.00 dollars later I find out that the vacuum pump exploded which cause the cam shaft to fail. I was out of work for almost a month. There is a recall for almost all vehicles from this year but not the 2019 terrain even though it contains the same vacuum pump as all the recalled makes and models. Vacuum pump, cam shaft, oil pan, oil pump had to all be replaced at under 100,000 highway miles. Someone needs to address this problem.

My GMC Terrain started, but then stalled as I tried to pull away from the curb & drive. When I tried to restart it, it turned over but would not start. My AAA Autoclub servicemember used his "check engine" interface machine to determine that the fuel pump module was not communicating with the car, though there was half a tank of gas. This issue has been a well published problem with this year, make & model online, but GMC is not including my VIN# in the recall. I had the car towed to my mechanic & his diagnostic tests revealed the same problem - fuel system module. I would have been in danger if there had been any traffic on my residential street. If the car had driven a few blocks & then stalled, I would have been on a busy boulevard. There were no warning signs prior to the stall. There is a "check engine" icon lit up now because it is going to require service. My mechanic can't fix it, so I need to arrange another tow to get it to a dealership service department. Thank you
