while driving down the road i noticed the truck had a lack of power and then the check engine light came on and as soon as it came on i heard a ticking/clacking noise. I got the truck towed to a repair facility and they found misfire on cylinder 8, they informed me and wanted to drain the oil and also removed the valve cover in order to check the valve train. They found a lot of metal in the oil along with a decent amount of decent shavings in the oil filter. They removed the valve cover and found a bent pushrod and stuck lifter. They did mention a possible noise coming from the bottom end of the engine (knocking) but at this time with the amount of contaminates in the oil and stuck lifter, The engine is recommended to be replaced. No ETA at this time for a replacement

Diving my 2017 GMC SIERRA 1500 down the road and all of a sudden it had a big bang in motor, luckily only going 35 miles an hour. Had a slight tick in engine which I had gotten after most recent service visit, and had scheduled to take back to dealer. When I had checked it with a scanner, it only showed a P0700/P0711 code which was for transmission, otherwise no other lights or codes until that day when check engine light came on. Immediately stopped driving and pulled in parking lot and had car towed to dealer that day, [XXX]. They had called me back on [XXX], and said that they had to go further into engine for diagnosis, for extra charges. They called back next day and said that there was a camshaft failure that led to bent rod and metal in engine. Only fix was to replace engine. I then went and talked to them about cost and cause of failure, which is what I previously have stated. I then put in a call to GMC CUSTOMER CARE about the issue, and what they could do to help with issue, because no engine should fail with that few miles on it. Stated also that I had bought vehicle used with factory warranty still on it , and had all service since done at a GMC DEALERSHIP, and that they had all my records. And also, that the previous owner more than likely had all service done at a GMC dealership since it was all under warranty at the time. My service request with them is number [XXX]. My basis is on TSB Bulletin No: 20-NA-142 and Bulletin No: 15-06-01-002M . Which shows that GMC Corporation was aware of issues. At moment I am awaiting response from GMC. It is a known issue the OnStar modules fail and are on back order. They make you pay for 3 years of service on supply you a part that fails. This makes the phone app not work unbeknown to me when I had my kids and dog in the vehicle creating a safety is. This makes remote start and lock unoperable. This makes the GPS as well as the clock unoperable. This makes the sos call in emergency not operable.

I was driving my 2023 GMC Sierra pickup (26,634 miles) while towing a trailer. I also had three of my children with me. I was in the fast lane doing approximately 65 miles per hour when the vehicle suddenly started to lose power. The Low Oil Pressure light came on the engine started to make a banging sound. Then the vehicle said to turn it off. We immediately started working our way across three lanes of very busy traffic to get to the side of the road. We were almost hit by several semi-trucks and barely made it to the side of the road as the engine turned off. We could not get the truck to start again. It also would not go into neutral. We were in a very dangerous position due to semi-trucks going by us at a very high rate of speed. I had to call a friend to come get my children because I was fearful, we were going to be hit. An officer luckily came by and assisted us. The engine was replaced with a remanufactured engine by the dealer. The technician who worked on the truck said that the bearings failed causing the engine to fail.

Assure Guard (877-831-3077) Contract number [XXX] GMC Customer Care Melissa (866-790-5600 Ext [XXX] ) Case#[XXX] Dealership: Phil Moore GMC (601-956-0150) My truck is barely 4 years old. I should not have this problem . Why is it no one guarantee the product they make? I paid too much money for this vehicle financing it as a new truck. I paid 766.95 to replace/install the shark fan antenna on the roof of my truck because it literally came loose on his own. No one (dealership, GMC, Assure Guard) would assist with repairs. The shark fin antenna started leaking water and it was wobbly where, it was no longer sealed on the body of the truck. Water leaking through out the ceiling/roof. I didn’t do anything to cause this! GMC Customer Care refused to refund nor, help with the cost of repair. I tried to file a claim with my extended warranty company(Assure Guard) contract number [XXX] - they refused to cover the antenna. I have owned several 1500 truck models, and none of them has had the antenna to fall off the vehicle. I had to return to Phil Moore, GMC a second time because they did not properly seal the antenna. This caused the whole interior of my truck to be drenched with rainwater. I am upset with the dealership, GMC and my extended warranty(Assure Guard) because I spent too much money on my vehicle to have this happen and I would like to be refunded. My check engine light came on so I stopped at a dealership to have it checked out. The dealership in Louisiana said it just needed to be updated. So I made the trip to Laredo, Texas to go to work. The next day the truck went into reduced acceleration and nearly caused me to wreck on the interstate. I had the vehichle towed to the closest GMV dealership. It turns out these vehicles have a faulty engine coolant control valve. The part is on national back order with no ETA. GMC is knowingly allow their customers to operate the trucks with this part that is know to fail. I am currently stranded in South Texas and I will have to purchase a rental vehicle to get back home to Louisiana. GMC will not help me at all with this situation.

Truck with >15000 miles on it suddenly stops on highway (Dec 6, 2024). Engine won't start but all electrical components work, retractable steps, radio, bluetooth etc. When attempted to start, all electric went black and "push to start button again" came on display. Towed to dealer and after 3 days, advisor says it's not the battery but it might be something electrical. After six days I trade this truck in as they "don't" know what is wrong. After I trade they tell me that the truck needs a new engine but don't why. While taking my new 2025 truck in for a computer problem (500 miles) they tell me they found metal shavings in the oil. I find out two weeks later that there might be a problem with 877,710 6.2L engine with the same problem as mine. Sales says he doesn't know what problem is but he says he may be stuck with the truck for 30 days or more so I should trade.

Engine knocking and metal in oil. Been to the dealership and even though it's under warranty they will not act on it due to no check engine light present. It's making it difficult to trust driving the vehicle anymore because of the thought of the engine shutting down without warning anytime. This complaint is documented and confirmed by a dealership. They made me pay the check out fee and recommended i keep driving the vehicle until the motor locks up.

2020 GMC Sierra Denali – VIN [XXX] On [XXX] while driving the 2020 GMC Sierra to work I noticed a strong gasoline smell inside the cabin. I immediately returned home and parked the truck in the street. Inspecting the driveway where the truck was parked over night, I notice large gasoline spot. The following day I had the truck towed to Boyds Tire & Service center to have the truck inspected. On January 20 Boyds called me and shared the truck had experienced a failure of the High-Pressure Fuel Pump which has been recognized by GM as a recall under N192283991. I called a local GMC dealership about this failure and they stated it would cost $300 to review and would not perform any work under a recall. Also, the dealership stated they could not service the truck for another two weeks, which I cannot be without the truck that long. So, I had Boyds perform the repair the same day. Unfortunately, GM has not listed my truck on this recall. This is the reason for my submittal and request for a full refund of the repair service due to the failed part. This being a very High Risk of Fire and injury and death, I decide to have the repair completed immediately. I have since contacted GM about this incident they will not consider my request for recognizing and reimbursement for service repair. Transmission, rear wheel lock up issue. Dealer performed recall notice work. Truck still has same issue after dealer visit. When issue starts, feels like you ran over something in the road, All warning lights are on, loss of power to engine and the engine did quit working once. Door locks continue to cycle repeatedly, multiple screen warnings appear on dashboard. It appears that everything that could go wrong happens at once. Have heard transmission valve control modules is a major problem with GM 10 speed transmissions.
