Started car. Would not accelerate past 30-40 miles an hour even when I pressed the Gas Pedal to the floor. I pulled over and turned the car off. On restart it seems to be fine. The Genesis GV 70 forum is replete with owners having the same issue. This is a 2022 with less than 25,000 miles on the Odometer. There are not many of these cars on the road and probably many owners are unaware that this seems to be a recurring issue on many of these models. I implore the NHTSA to look into this matter quickly before fatal accidents , if they haven’t occurred already, happen.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ENGINE, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I purchased this vehicle brand new in July 2023. By Jan 2024, it was already having major issues. The 2 major issues with this vehicle are 1) it had an engine misfire ( thus engine and fuel system issues) that cut the power to the vehicle and made it dangerous to drive and thus had to be in at the Genesis dealer service center 3 times (Jan, April and May 2024). The 2nd problem is electrical. On Oct 1st, 2024 the brake lights wouldn't turn off at all despite several troubleshooting attempts. That electrical problem drained the battery and after the car was jump started, after I started to drive, then the car cold died in the middle of the road. I had my 10 day old newborn in the car and I had to get out and stop cars that were driving towards me. Attached is the repair invoice for the engine misfire earlier this year and the car is currently at the repair facility for the electrical problem so no invoice has been generated yet.

I have been getting a number of safety warning lights since about 6 months after buying this car. It is new, under warranty and I am first owner. They were intermittent initially, but have become increasingly frequent and are now associated with a constant warning ping. I have taken the car to FitzGerald Genesis in Clearwater Florida 7 times for this problem. They can reproduce it (and have the codes) but they can not fix it (I took it to Crown Genesis of St. Pete twice for this problem) Genesis has not been interested in repurchasing this car under the lemon law - but offered me 2 car payments to sign a release of liability which I declined. They then called and asked if I could bring the car back for an 8th (really 10th) attempt to fix. They are aware that the safety features are not working (including Adaptive cruise control, lane sensing, forward collision detection, stability control among others) I am in Maine for the summer - but I arranged for a neighbor to drive the car to them. It was in an accident. I am offended that Genesis would ask anyone to drive that car in this unsafe condition. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

I was in a collision where another vehicle crashed into me at the driver's side front corner of my car. The other driver was going at least 30 miles per hour; I was probably going 10-20 miles per hour. None of my airbags deployed despite the collision resulting in a total loss to my vehicle.

The adaptive cruise control started pacing off vehicles in the right lane instead straight ahead. Then the vehicle's forward collision emergency brake system started engaging with no vehicles infront causing the vehicle to panic stop on its own for no reason. This panic stop could cause an accident, personal injury or death.

The display in front of the driver which includes speedometer and tachometer, and other info went completely black. A small air bag warning light was the only functioning part of the display, so I assume that the air bags were not operational. Most associated functions such as cruise control were lost. The center accessory display was okay: the radio and navigation seemed okay, for example. The dealer asked me to drive it in to the dealership, which I did with a certain amount of apprehension. He has provided me with a "loaner". He said that I was not the first such failure he has seen at his dealership.

Been A Loyal Enthusiastic Hyundai & Genesis Owner For 22 Years. 6 Santa Fe's 3 Genesis. FRIDAY, AUGUST 30, 2024. Went to garage to start... "LIMITED SLIP" WARNING AND MULTIPLE DRIVER ASSIST WARNINGS FLASHING ON DIGITAL DASHBOARD. WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. TOWED TO DEALER SATURDAY MORNING. DEALER HAS NOT LOOKED AT GV70 TO DIAGNOSE IN 7 DAYS. 3 OTHER GENESIS HAD BEEN TOWED TO THE DEALER AS WELL AND WERE SITTING NEXT TO MINE. DEALER IS DOING WHAT THEY CAN BUT NOW HAVE MORE THAN 3X SERVICE FROM RECENTLY CLOSED GENESIS DEALERS IN A 60-70 MILE RADIUS. GENESIS DIFFERENTIAL ISSUES ARE REAL AND UNRESOLVED AND AFFECT A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF GV VEHICLES. GENESIS DEALER ISSUES OF TAKING ON SERVICE FROM CLOSED GENESIS DEALERS, NO APPOINTMENTS FOR MONTHS, NO LOANERS & UNABLE TO REPAIR AND/OR MULTIPLE REPAIRS FOR THE SAME ISSUE ARE REAL AND AFFECT A SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF GV OWNERS. These issues are now insurmountable for the near term and, at 72 years old, the "near term" is very important to me. GENESIS AND NHTSA ARE NOW WELL AWARE OF THESE DIFFERENTIAL ISSUES WHICH CAN RENDER THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE WHILE DRIVING OR PARKED. A NATIONAL RECALL IS REQUIRED AS WELL AS A "PERMANENT" FIX. CURRENT DEALERSHIPS ARE HEAVILY IMPACTED WITH PICKING UP MANY ADDITIONAL SERVICE CALLS FROM CLOSED GENESIS DEALERS. THEY DO NOT HAVE THE CAPACITY OR THE ABILITY TO PERMANENTLY REPAIR THESE ISSUES IN A TIMELY MANNER. A NATIONAL RECALL SHOULD BE ORDERED BY NHTSA / FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AND REQUIRE A "TIMELY PERMANENT REPAIR" OR A FULL COMPENSATION IMMEDIATE BUYBACK.

I had just started the car and driven less than half a mile in a 35 MPH zone when the acceleration gave out. Vehicle would not go over 20 MPH, engine did not rev up when gas pedal depressed. I came to red light and stopped, turned off the car and turned it back on and issue seemed to clear. I google and have learned this model and year are being recalled for this issue and fuel pumps replaced, but my VIN does not show up as under the recall. I'm now afraid to drive my car.

In April 2024, I was driving down a side street at about 30 mph. Suddenly there was a slam against the side of the car. I pulled over a block later and found that the passenger side mirror housing had gone into the "closed/locked" position, evidently at speed, dislodging the side mirror. The mirror had then slammed into the car door frame, denting it, and cracking the mirror, causing some of it to shatter away. Thankfully, my car windows were closed or I would likely have had glass shards flying into my car cabin at high speed. There is no damage at all to the mirror housing. I have no explanation for the sudden, fast closing movement other than something that caused it to think it needed to close. I took the car to a Genesis dealer. Without any examination, they told me it "could not be" a flaw in the car; that there must have been an impact. I asked how that could happen with no damage to the mirror housing at a high enough speed to completely dislodge the glued-in and fastened-in mirror and dent the window frame on the car. They had no explanation. I then reported this to Genesis. Their response was I would have to take it to a dealer to be looked at. Neither dealer in the area would sell me a new mirror to self-install and were "squirrely" about when a repair could be made, citing "supply chain" problems getting a replacement mirror. Three weeks ago (late June), while driving on a highway at approximately 70 mph, the same passenger side mirror housing suddenly slammed into the closed position. There was no damage to the car because the mirror was already missing. But this makes me very concerned about replacing the mirror if this intermittent problem is going to recur. I have an appointment at a different dealership scheduled for the end of this month and (along with the open recall and standard service) am asking them to look at this problem again. Pictures provided are of damaged mirror, dented car window frame, and undamaged mirror housing.

The contact stated while the dealer was servicing the vehicle, the contact was informed that there was a hole in the turbo cooler and that the turbo cooler was leaking. The dealer informed the contact that the failure was caused by a rock that was able to pass through the front grill because the front grill holes were large. The contact was awaiting an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 14,500. The VIN was unavailable.

I was sitting at a stop light waiting to make a right turn. When I pressed down on the accelerator the car just inched forward. I let off the gas and pushed the accelerator again and again before the car would accelerate. This has happened several times, once almost causing me to wreck. This has happened since the first month I purchased the vehicle. I have had it for a year

The contact owns a 2022 Genesis Supreme Vortex Toy Hauler equipped with Sailun Tires, Tire Line: S637, Tire Size: 235/85/R16, and DOT Number: XXXX that was hitched to a 2006 GMC Sierra. The contact stated while driving at approximately 50 MPH, the front driver's side tire tread had separated off the tire and would not retain air. The failure occurred during a long-distance camping trip and fortunately, the RV had a spare tire. The contact replaced the front driver-side tire with the spare tire. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21T018000 (Tires) however, the tire line was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. 2024 GV70 makes loud noise (whirling, whoosing type) at highways speeds 65-70 mph. Noise was present immediately after purchase, intermittently, and became more constant but only at highway speeds. At first it sounded like it may be coming from under car, but localized to top of car sunroof area after some months. Dealer uncooperative about repairs. Inspected three times with no current resolution, although the tech agreed on test drive he did hear the noise complaint at highway speeds.

Was driving on the highway at 70 mph. Oil light came on, noticed it without any loss of power. Within the next mile the cars rpms started to increase very quickly with little pressure being applied to accelerator and power loss started to begin. As I tried to get over and get to the next exit the car completely shut off in the middle of the road with little to no warning or time to react. Very dangerous. Thankfully was still able to steer and brake. I called help and had the state trooper blocking me on the road until the tow truck arrived. Massive puddle of oil & fluid on the ground under car.

[XXX] At approximately [XXX] pm, while driving to Dallas, Texas, the car bucked numerous times while attempting to pass another car at approximately 65 mph. The GV70 then started to deaccelerate. The speed dropped to around 50 mph. I continued to press the accelerator, but the car would not accelerate but the engine was revving (RPM hit around 5000) and then dropped back down. I continued driving with the speed varying between 45 and 55 mph even with the accelerator floored. As I got closer to Dallas, I could get the speed up to 60 - 65 mph with the accelerator floored but then on any incline, the speed would drop back to 45 - 50 mph. I had to turn the hazards on several times as the speed was well below the other vehicles. There were no warning lights. I was able to get the GV70 into a dealer the next morning who kept the car for 2 days. They ran diagnostics and drove the GV70 but could not replicate the problem nor did the diagnostics sow anything. They thought that maybe the car reset when it was turned off. The contact's father-in-law owned a 2022 Genesis GV70. The contact stated while the driver was driving at an undisclosed speed during rainy weather conditions, the driver crashed into a Ford Fusion at an unknown location and there was a third vehicle impacted that crashed into a wall. The driver of the vehicle that crashed into a wall sustained fatal injuries and no further information was available. The driver's seat belt was fastened however it failed to restrain him during the impact. The air bags deployed. The contact stated according to the police report filed, the fatality of their father-in-law was caused by seat belt failure. The contact stated the father-in-law hit their head on the steering wheel causing blunt force trauma on impact to be the cause of death. The vehicle was towed and deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was unknown.

I purchased a new 2023 Genesis GV70 on [XXX] from the Genesis Janesville dealership. Within 3 months of driving the car, and less than 5,000 miles on the car, the breaks started to squeak. After approximately 8,000 miles, the all audio in the car malfunctioned and has not worked properly since. Additionally, I was driving on the interstate and the E brake engaged automatically (without engaging myself) and the car immediately deaccelerated from 75 miles to 35 miles within 3 seconds. Fortunately, it was early in the morning and there was no traffic, but if there was, it would certainly be life threatening. I immediately scheduled an appointment with Genesis dealership after the incident in Waukesha and dropped it off with their service team on [XXX]. The service manager (Derek) called me after dropping the vehicle off and noted that the emergency brake also malfunctioned when he was taking the car to the technicians. The service team indicated on [XXX] that they still have not found a solution to the audio issue. They also said they simply reset the car and after a 25 mile test drive the emergency brake did not go off and therefore the car should be safe to drive. Given the car has less than 10,000 miles and is already experiencing several issues, I strongly caution anyone from buying this vehicle. Car was coasting into a resteraunt chain drive-thru lane, coming to a slow when the car very quickly excellerated. A quick application of the brakes stopped the rapid acceleration. Neither foot was on the gas, one was resting over the brake pedal in order to stop the car before reaching the car ahead of us. I have OEM floor mats that do not sit on the pedals. I was not using the Paddle shifters. This has happened on more than one occasion in similar conditions.
