The vehicle intermittently and unexpectedly shifts itself from Drive (D) into Park (P) while completely stopped in active traffic. When traffic moves and the accelerator is pressed, the engine revs safely in place, but the vehicle does not move because it has uncommandedly entered Park. The driver must quickly apply the brake and manually shift back into Drive to avoid being rear-ended. This has occurred on 6 separate occasions within the first two months of ownership, creating an immediate, severe collision hazard at active intersections. Dealer/Manufacturer Actions: The vehicle is currently on its 3rd service visit at Genesis of Lindon for this exact issue and has been out of service since August 10, 2026 (accounting for 11 business days on this visit alone, and over 20 calendar days total across all visits). The dealership has been unable to replicate the intermittent electronic/software fault during limited 15-mile test drives. No error codes are stored, and no dashboard warning chimes or lights appear when the uncommanded shift occurs. A corporate case has been opened with Genesis Motor America, and a formal written notice under the Utah New Motor Vehicles Warranties Act has been submitted. The vehicle is currently deemed unsafe to drive by the owner and remains at the dealership.

My AC in my 2023 GV 70 stopped working. Apparently this is a known defect but I was never notified. Im currently in NC, 3 hours from my home in [XXX] where the heat index is 110 degrees. Now i have to drive home to get service without AC. I reached out to the dealer four times today including the service manager, service coordinator and Anthony the GM but no one has returned my call. I called Genesis customer service and their response was “sorry no appointments until late next week and we have no loaners until late September”. Clearly, no one at Genesis at the dealer level or corporate cares enough to help me solve this problem so I am forced to find an independent mechanic who can work on my vehicle and rent my own car until it’s repaired. This is completely unacceptable especially for a luxury vehicle. First, not being notified of a problem Genesis has known about for a long time so i could repair it before it’s become a calamity (where i am now). Second, no one cares enough to help me solve their defective parts problem! I expect Genesis to pay for both the repairs and my rental plus any additional out of pocket expenses. - #11756637August 13, 2026VISIBILITY/WIPER
Component Focus: ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING / VISIBILITY/WIPER/DEFROSTER (HVAC) Description of Safety Defect: My brand-new 2026 Genesis GV70 Turbo (under 5,000 miles) suffered a sudden, catastrophic cooling system and heater core failure while in operation. The vehicle has a severe design defect: it completely lacks a low-coolant fluid level sensor in the expansion reservoir. Because of this engineering omission, the vehicle dropped its coolant level completely below the minimum safety line and filled the enclosed passenger cabin with highly toxic, atomized ethylene glycol (antifreeze) chemical vapors through the HVAC vents without triggering a single dashboard warning light, chime, or error code. The climate control system simultaneously malfunctioned, dropping fan speeds when stopped and forcing occupants to breathe in the concentrated toxic fumes. This is a severe health and safety hazard. A driver could easily be overcome by hazardous chemical vapors or experience sudden engine failure at highway speeds because the vehicle provides zero electronic warning of a critical coolant loss. Local authorized dealerships refused to accommodate the vehicle or provide a safe loaner vehicle despite the car being completely undriveable and chemically hazardous to sit inside. The vehicle is currently disabled at a dealership

My tracking number assigned by NHTSA for this issue is XXX. I am adding additional pdf.s to this original safety On page 4 of 8, the attachment MIP from Genesis on HHI does not provide a reason for this concern: High Pressure Fuel Pump With Seal Cam Lobe Bucket HPFP Bolts Fuel Rail Pipe Intake Manifold Gasket Throttle Body Gasket Item Description: Speak with your service advisor for more information on this recommended service. Reason: Left blank Service Advisors' texts attached: 1, 2, and 3 from [XXX] of Genesis/[XXX] of HHI: The dealership’s verbal assessment was that the fuel pump area bolts sheared off due to "outside work" or "over-tightening, I asked for photos to provide visual, metallurgical proof of tool marks or cross-threading to back up that claim, and [XXX] verbally stated they had submitted those to Genesis. I never received the photos. The last attachment (Diagnostic Check). **RESPONSE to dealerships' speculation: ** Under Federal Recall 033G (NHTSA Campaign 26V229000), which directly involves the failure of fuel system retention fasteners, the Insufficient torque on the stabilizer bolts is prone to a bolt backing out even a fraction of an inch; the fuel assembly begins to vibrate violently against it. This creates immense lateral (sideways) fatigue stress on the bolt threads. Eventually, under that continuous vibration and stress, the metal fatigues and shears (snaps) completely off. [XXX] - GMA Case Management - [XXX] assigned me Case #XXX. Provide all requests for completion and docs. An inspection is to take place. While driving at 35mph on a straight section of road the warning sounded, the display said "steering wheel locked" and I could not turn the steering wheel for about 5 seconds, then it returned to normal operation. We bought the car new in July 2025. I found numerous posts on line describing similar or worse experiences. The dealership performed tests and could not determine a cause.

CORRECTION TO NHTSA COMPLAINT 11754243 (8/2/2026). That complaint was submitted late at night with assistance; several fields were entered wrong and the electrical failure history was omitted. Apologies for the error. Please associate this with XXX. CORRECTIONS: Vehicles towed - YES, TWO, not "No"; my Genesis is still at the dealer it was towed to in [XXX]. Injured - THREE, not 1. Police report - YES, not "No". Mileage about 23,500. Speed at T0 per the EDR - 23 km/h, about 14 mph. OMITTED AND MATERIAL: Before this crash the vehicle STARTED ITSELF TWICE WITH NO HUMAN COMMAND - no key press, no remote start, nobody in it. Separately the entire system went completely black, causing TOTAL ECU AND ECM FAILURE. The vehicle lost electrical integrity. WHY THAT MATTERS: Genesis Service Campaign 914G is "ECM Update - P030X Misfire"; its remedy is "Update the ECM (Engine Control Module) software." It covers 2022-2023MY GV70 (JK1) built 3/29/2021-3/4/2025, VIN starting KMU. My VIN is [XXX], a 2023 GV70. Owner notice was due September 2025. The campaign was still open and unremedied when the car crashed 12/3/2025. THE EVENT: Exiting a highway at low speed with no impact, collision or obstacle of any kind, the airbags deployed spontaneously. The deployment caused loss of control and a three-vehicle collision. The deployment caused the crash. No warning lamp or symptom preceded it. FAULT HISTORY: B139500 cross coupling (SRS firing-loop interconnection fault), B1650 (airbag control unit fault history), and multiple LOW VOLTAGE codes. An electrical system that starts an engine uncommanded and blacks out an ECU can fire a restraint with no crash. EDR: The report states the EDR is part of the Air Bag Control Unit and that if ACU power is lost during an event, all or part of the data may not be recorded. Manufacturer closed its claim with no repair or explanation. Vehicle and ACU remain available; no dealer diagnostic was done on the ACU. While exiting a highway at normal speed and with no impact, collision, or obstacle of any kind, the airbags in this 2023 Genesis GV70 deployed spontaneously. The unexpected deployment caused me to lose control of the vehicle, and a three-car collision followed. I sustained a head injury and aggravation of a pre-existing traumatic brain injury; I remain under medical care. There was no crash before the deployment - the deployment caused the crash. No warning lamps, messages, or symptoms appeared before the failure. The vehicle was reported to the manufacturer, which opened a claim and later closed it without repair or explanation; a second manufacturer case review is open. I have demanded preservation of all vehicle data, including event data recorder and telematics records, and independent inspection was arranged. The vehicle and the airbag control unit remain available for inspection on request. The problem has not been reproduced by a dealer, and to my knowledge no dealer diagnostic has been performed on the airbag control module.

Subject: Vehicle Safety Incident Report – Fuel Pump Disconnection and Oil Leak To: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Date: July 27, 2026 I am submitting this report to detail a recent vehicle malfunction that posed significant risks to my safety and that of others on the road. While driving to work, I experienced a situation where my vehicle was unable to shift gears properly or accelerate as expected. This loss of acceleration and responsiveness created substantial control problems, making it difficult to maneuver safely in traffic. Notably, no dashboard warning lights were illuminated at the time, which gave me the false impression that the vehicle was operating correctly. Initially, I perceived a dragging sensation in the car, which I believed was manageable. However, the situation quickly escalated when I observed smoke coming from the vehicle. The presence of smoke not only impaired my visibility but also posed a serious risk of fire or engine failure. The danger was heightened as I attempted to drive uphill; the car struggled even more, increasing the potential for an accident or collision due to impaired maneuverability. Following this incident, I had my vehicle towed to an auto repair shop for a diagnostic check. The diagnostic report revealed that the fuel pump was not attached to anything and that oil was leaking into the pan. These findings confirm that the issues were real and not just perceived. The disconnected fuel pump and oil leak represent systemic failures, which could have had catastrophic consequences if not addressed promptly. In conclusion, this experience highlighted grave risks to both personal and public safety. I urge vehicle manufacturers and regulatory bodies to prioritize detecting and preventing such malfunctions.

Hello [XXX], I was wondering are you handling the case against Hyundai/Genesis. I own a 2022 GV70 43K on it, took it to the dealer on 7/24/26 photos on file at the dealer in Dublin, Ca. Got home in the evening, and parked my car in my garage, then left the next evening 7/25/26 to a wedding got home late, 7/26/26 drove my card to get a bite to eat and seen this, (see photos) I reviewed on line and this a known issue with Hyundai/Genesis a well documented factory defect. That the paint just lifts off due to no being cured properly. That it prematurely oxidizes and weakens and peels off, mine is not oxidized but it just has peeled straight off the hood. This is like toyota white tacoma Trucks issues, with paint. Are you handling this and where do I get in on the claim or start one? for a 60K vehicle this is unacceptable. I also have a video. My# is [XXX] if you need to reach out. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

- #11752400July 23, 2026STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
This supplements my prior complaint, ODI #11751961, for the same vehicle. Following that complaint, an authorized dealer performed front camera and front radar ADAS calibration on 7/21/2026 and returned the vehicle as operating as designed; the manufacturer's representative confirmed in writing on 7/22/2026 that the camera had been within specification. On 7/23/2026, approximately 1:21–1:35 PM, driving in the left lane of a divided parkway with a concrete median barrier, with HDA2 and Lane Following Assist both active and indicating green, the steering wheel turned the vehicle toward the concrete barrier at least seven times, requiring manual correction each time. This occurred both with a lead vehicle approximately 4 seconds ahead and with no vehicle within more than 10 seconds ahead. Earlier the same day, driving the opposite direction with both systems active and green, the vehicle applied hard automatic braking twice with no vehicle within more than 10 seconds ahead (traffic present only in the adjacent lane); I had to manually accelerate because a following vehicle was close behind. My original complaint reported the automatic braking failing to activate; the system now also activates falsely. Additionally, the hands-on-wheel warning repeatedly illuminated while my hands were on the wheel, taking approximately 30 seconds to detect them. I have stopped driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified in writing the same day, and a second repair visit is being arranged. No crash or injury has occurred.

- #11752125July 22, 2026ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, STEERING, POWER TRAIN
The vehicle has experienced a pattern of recurring electrical failures beginning shortly after purchase, involving driver door controls (window, lock, mirror, and interior lighting functions), which have required four separate repair attempts over approximately three years, including replacement of a door module, a wiring harness, and a door switch assembly. Despite these repairs, the same driver door electrical failure has recurred multiple times. The vehicle has also experienced a seat memory module failure (module was replaced), and a persistent rear hatch malfunction that has never been resolved. The most serious concern is that the vehicle has, on multiple occasions, unexpectedly shut down while being driven, including instrument cluster and infotainment screens going dark, occurring when the automatic engine stop/start feature engages at intersections. The vehicle has restarted on its own after acceleration in some instances. Power steering assist has also been affected during at least one of these events. Most recently, the vehicle failed to start at all on one occasion, requiring roadside assistance to jump the battery; the dealer diagnosed unstable battery voltage but did not identify a root cause connecting this event to the prior shutdown incidents. This creates a significant safety risk due to potential loss of vehicle control or loss of power while operating in traffic. The problem has been reproduced and confirmed by the dealer on multiple occasions (door module and wiring harness failures were diagnosed and repaired), though the shutdown-while-driving events specifically have not been duplicated by the dealer despite multi-day testing. The vehicle has been inspected exclusively by the authorized dealer; it has not been inspected by police or independent parties. Warning symptoms (flickering door lights, dead door controls) preceded the shutdown/stall issue by roughly a year before the stalling symptom began.

- #11751961July 21, 2026STEERING, LANE DEPARTURE: ASSIST, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
When Highway Driving Assist / Lane Following Assist is active — confirmed by illuminated green HDA and lane assist indicators — the vehicle applies uncommanded steering torque, to the left or to the right, strong enough to force the vehicle out of its lane. This occurred on every drive, daily, from delivery on 7/2/2026 (approximately 23,200 miles) until the vehicle was brought in for service on 7/13/2026. The behavior was identical regardless of lane markings (solid, dotted, or absent) and road geometry (straight or curved), at highway speed and on local roads at approximately 30 mph. On multiple occasions the vehicle was pushed toward highway barriers (concrete median and metal guardrail, on both left and right sides) and into the oncoming traffic lane; avoiding barrier contact or returning from the oncoming lane required forceful manual correction, during which the rear of the vehicle oscillated side to side before directional control was fully regained. This occurred regardless of speed. Separately, the forward collision-avoidance / automatic emergency braking system failed to activate on multiple occasions when approaching stopped or slowing traffic, requiring hard manual braking by the driver. No warning lights displayed. An authorized dealer inspected the vehicle 7/13–7/21/2026: scans found no stored diagnostic trouble codes, road tests did not reproduce the behavior, and the dealer performed front camera and front radar ADAS calibration on 7/21/2026. I am currently monitoring the vehicle to determine whether the calibration corrected the behavior. A comparable loaner vehicle of the same brand exhibited correct HDA/LFA operation, which is how I confirmed my vehicle's behavior is abnormal. No crash or injury has occurred.

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the service I received, and the dealership’s failure to address what I believe is a serious safety issue following recall repairs performed on my vehicle. On XXX, I brought my vehicle for a routine oil change and to complete three mandatory recall campaigns, including an ECM software update related to a misfire recall. Prior to this service, my vehicle had never exhibited any misfiring, transmission, or drivability issues. However, on Sunday, XXX, and again on Monday, XXX my vehicle began experiencing dangerous driving symptoms that started only after the recall work was completed. Specifically: The engine RPMs surge while accelerating, but the vehicle does not increase speed accordingly. The vehicle jerks when braking. The vehicle hesitates and feels unsafe while driving at highway speeds. These issues did not exist before Genesis performed the recall repairs. On XXX, I contacted my service advisor, to report these safety concerns. He assured me that a manager would contact me ASAP and determine the next steps. No one ever called me back. I called again that same day. During that conversation, Rick suggested that my worn brake pads and rotors were the reason my vehicle was “misfiring.” This explanation makes does not explain why my engine RPMs are flaring and the vehicle is failing to accelerate properly immediately after an ECM recall update. Once again, I was told someone would follow up, and again, no one did. On XXX, at approximately 9:00 AM, I called Genesis of Danvers again and spoke with Rick who told that if I dropped the vehicle off today, nothing could be done with it today, and that a manager would call me back. Got vehicle towed XXX. As of today XXX I still have no update on my vehicle. No phone card no email no loaner. I am becoming increasingly concerned by the lack of communication surrounding a vehicle that was towed because of a significant safety concern. On XXX while driving at approximately 5mph in a parking lot my Genesis GV70 shifted from Drive to Park by itself causing the car and my wife and I to lurch forward and come to a stop! The car would not come out of Park and a warning came up after the fact saying to contact immediate service. My wife and I were in the car and there were no injuries. If this occurred at a higher rate of speed on a busy highway I cannot imagine what would have happened. I immediately called Genesis Road Assistance for a tow. The car was towed by flat bed to the dealer in [XXX], where I purchased the car, approximately 10 miles away where it sits today waiting for service. My wife and I are afraid to drive this car ever again as it is brand new with only 250 miles on the odometer. *No warnings of any kind prior to the incident. On June 8, 2026, while driving home from work and actively entering the freeway, the vehicle experienced a sudden, severe, and catastrophic loss of propulsion. Despite pressing the accelerator, the vehicle completely refused to accelerate beyond 30 mph, forcing me to navigate active highway traffic at a dangerously low speed. This sudden failure to accelerate while merging onto a high-speed interstate created an immediate, life-threatening situation, leaving the vehicle highly vulnerable to a severe rear-end collision. The vehicle was towed to an authorized Genesis dealership on June 9, 2026. Genesis Motor America (GMA) corporate customer service was notified, and Case #42801757 was opened. On June 25, 2026, the dealership stated they performed code scans and test drives but could not replicate the intermittent symptom or find any stored fault codes, declaring the vehicle ready for pickup without identifying or correcting the root cause of this severe defect. When challenged on the phone regarding the severe safety risk of driving a vehicle that unpredictably loses highway propulsion, the service advisor dismissed the life-threatening concern as "hypothetical." On July 3, 2026, GMA Customer Service provided their assessment on Case #42801757, rigidly stating the vehicle is not eligible for Lemon Law relief and instructing me to follow the dealer's advice to pick up the un-repaired car. Genesis is actively using the threat of immediate loaner car charges to force an unsafe vehicle back onto public roads. I am uploading the full email correspondence as evidence that Genesis corporate is forcing a vehicle with an unaddressed, life-threatening propulsion failure back into service.

Auto Start Stop seemed to have malfunction and shut the car off completely. I had to restart the car in traffic to get going. This happened twice, once going to work and once on a weekend trip to New Jersey. The only thing that's preventing an accident is you have to stop for the auto start feature to even activate.
