i brought my car to the Ford dealer for a noise it was making. Truck was to dealership and i have been called several times with new estimates for the repair. Dealership sent me a video after initially telling me it would be a $6500 repair, they called to tell me it would be an $8500 repair. Now they want $ 10,500 for the repair claiming the cam phaser was bad and now that the engine is back together a cyclinder is bad

I am filing a safety complaint regarding a known manufacturing defect in the Variable Cam Timing (VCT) system of my 2019 Ford F-150 equipped with the 2nd Generation 3.5L EcoBoost engine. The vehicle currently has approximately 80,000 miles. The vehicle is experiencing severe cam phaser degradation due to failing internal locking pins, a widespread issue previously acknowledged by Ford under Customer Satisfaction Program 21N03. This mechanical failure causes a violent rattling noise upon cold starts, indicating a lack of oil pressure retention. More critically, as the component degradation worsens, it causes significant engine lag, severe hesitation during acceleration, and intermittent stalling. This presents a severe safety hazard, as the vehicle has experienced sudden power loss and hesitation while attempting to merge into high-speed highway traffic and execute turns, creating an immediate risk of a collision. Despite this being a well-documented factory defect in the 2017–2019 model years, Ford corporate has declined out-of-warranty or goodwill assistance to resolve the issue. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this systemic powertrain defect, as the unpredictable loss of propulsion and stalling poses a direct threat to driver and passenger safety.

**Subject: Potential Engine Oil Pan Seal Defect — 2019 Ford F-150 2.7L EcoBoost — Ford TSB 19-2189** I am submitting this complaint regarding an engine oil pan seal leak on my 2019 Ford F-150 Lariat equipped with the 2.7L EcoBoost engine. The vehicle has approximately 172,000 miles. A mechanic has identified an oil pan seal leak. The vehicle is actively dripping oil, and I have observed a drop in the engine oil level. The leak has not yet been repaired. I have contacted Ford regarding the issue. My vehicle's reported build date falls within the production period addressed by Ford Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 19-2189, dated August 6, 2019. That bulletin states that certain 2018–2019 Ford F-150 vehicles equipped with the 2.7L EcoBoost engine and built on or before May 21, 2019, may develop an oil leak from the engine oil pan RTV seal. Ford's specified corrective procedure involves replacing the oil pan with one equipped with a press-in-place gasket. The similarity between the condition described in this bulletin and the leak on my vehicle raises concern that this may be a known design, sealing, or durability issue affecting multiple vehicles. An ongoing engine oil leak can require repeated oil replenishment and may lead to insufficient engine lubrication if the oil level falls too low. Depending on the severity and circumstances, an oil leak may also create additional hazards. I have observed oil dripping and a reduced oil level, but I am not claiming that my vehicle has experienced engine failure, a crash, a fire, or loss of control. I am requesting that NHTSA review this reported condition and determine whether the oil pan seal issue described in TSB 19-2189 represents a safety-related defect warranting further investigation or a recall. I also request that NHTSA evaluate whether the existing repair guidance adequately addresses the underlying problem and whether affected owners should receive a safety-related remedy.

So, the transmission is slipping and causing the truck to lose power and jerk and not shift properly. I have had it looked at found out that the same transmission that was on a recall for other trucks is the same that is in mine, yet NO recall has been made. I have had no warning signs or any warning before it started shifting different.

Check engine light on, engine is sluggish when accelerating especially from a stop. Cam phasers malfunctioning causing rough idle and issues with accelerating. This has posed a major issue when attempting to pull out into traffic and not being able to accelerate ahead of incoming traffic. Engine has actually stopped at intersections, while going through car wash, at a stop.

- #11771031October 14, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
Driving on two lane road, approximatly 45-55 mph, collision warning on dash and audiable message to avoid impending accident. There was no obstruction in the road. Has happened two times in the past 4 months. Once in daylight with clear weather, once nighttime and light rain. Both times temperature was 60-70 deg F. Concerned it could also apply the brakes accourding to Fords information. I have not had the problem diagnosed since it happens so infrequently.

Truck has 33,000 miles on it. Transmission finds numerous neutral gears while trying to go forward. Sometimes bangs into gear and shock loads the drivetrain. Other times it will start to accelerate then stop accelerating while trying to get up to road speed. Trans has been serviced, fluid and filter at 30,000 miles. Cdf drum failure. Would love to see Ford stand behind this unit.

Vehicle transmission slips in lowers gears and will not shift to help the vehicle accelerate. This put the vehicle at stand still on busy roads and will present a hazard. vehicle has approx. 86,000 miles. Called local Ford Dealerships (all are weeks behind) and vehicle will more than likely need a transmission rebuild or new/reman transmission.

While driving on a residential road, my 2019 Ford F-150 (10R80 10-speed automatic with 88k miles) lost power to the wheels – the engine revved but the truck would not move. It did not recover after I shifted to reverse, then park, then shut the engine off and restarted. The vehicle had to be towed. This followed an earlier event on or around July 7, 2026 (at ~86,500 miles) where the transmission failed to downshift from 4th gear at a stop and stalled the engine, recovering only after cycling the shifter. The truck has a history of hard shifting into and past 4th gear for over a year now. No warning lights appeared during these events. The safety risk is that the transmission intermittently loses drive engagement and can stall the vehicle in traffic. When the engine stalls, power brake assist is lost after one or two pedal applications. Had the loss of drive occurred in an intersection or on the highway rather than a low-speed residential road, it could have caused a collision. An authorized Ford dealer has twice been unable to duplicate the fault on test drives, consistent with the intermittent 10R80 CDF clutch cylinder hydraulic leak described in Ford TSB 25-2126. The dealer’s technician suspects an F-clutch concern.

The truck has 55,000 miles on it. The truck shifted very harshly when slowing down creating a traction hazard. The harsh shifting cannot be mitigated by adjusting how it is driven. After a few days a wrench symbol appeared on the dash screen while driving on the interstate, I immediately drove the truck to the Ford dealership after the wrench symbol appeared. Code P07F7 was recovered. I was told that the torque converter is bad and the CDF hub is failing. I was told that the transmission will have to be replaced or rebuilt. The Ford dealerships own transmission specialist showed me how the faulty design is the cause for the break and showed me the new design Ford uses for the replacement parts.
