Vehicle Information Year/Make/Model: 2022 Ford F-150 Mileage: 38,488 Component: Sunroof / Visibility / Water Leak Complaint Description I am filing this complaint regarding a recurring safety issue with my 2022 Ford F-150 equipped with the optional sunroof. The sunroof has a persistent water leak that occurs during rainfall. This leak drips directly into the cabin area, creating a significant distraction while driving and fogging of the windshield. The distraction is especially hazardous during inclement weather when driver focus is critical for safe operation. The vehicle has been taken to Suburban Ford for service on three separate occasions. The first two service times the vehicle was returned with the vehicle issue not corrected. It is currently in for service for the third time. I have been informed that the entire sunroof system, the headliner and seat will need to be replaced. This condition is a known issue affecting F-150 vehicles with the optional sunroof. The repeated failure of the sunroof system to remain watertight, combined with the lack of timely repair parts creates an ongoing safety hazard for its drivers. Safety Concern The water intrusion causes driver distraction and could lead to loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash. Request I urge the NHTSA to investigate this issue as a potential safety defect affecting Ford F-150 vehicles with sunroofs.

The daytime running led lights on the headlights stopped working on my vehicle. First it was the passenger side and a few weeks later the driver’s side. As that happened to my vehicle, I noticed that many other Ford F150s have the same issue. When I took my vehicle for service, I was told by Ford Maxwell here in Austin Texas that this issue is not covered by my warranty. This is a safety issue because these are the lights that turn on during the day to make the vehicle visible.

Transmission malfunctioned leaving me with stuck in an intersection with no power, has down shifted unexpectedly on the highway causing the truck to slow down out of nowhere, also very rough shifts at low speed. No warning lights on the dash, problem appeared intermittently but was confirmed by AutoNation Ford St Petersburg location by Ford tech. Took it to an independent transmission specialist and they also confirmed the failure and found large metal chunks in the transmission oil pan. I am out of warranty and even though it was still drive able and not giving a check engine light, I opted to replace the transmission out of pocket due to safety concerns.

I bought the truck and two months later as I was driving the vehicle the rear defrental went out and caused the wheels to improperly balance the speed of all tires as I turned and cause my truck to turn roughly and I almost got in a wreck. I brought it to ford and they seen it needed to be replaced. Mind you its only been a few months. About a year later it has issues again as im driving and I also noticed it was leaking def oil really bad. I brought it in and they said they fixed it. About 7 months later I had issues with it again and they had to repair again. Its very concerning and is a big issue and safety concern.

I have a 2022 f150 2.7l with 46000 miles. I have had issues with the truck ever since I bought it. The safety issue is a few things. One when I put it in reverse my truck shudders and acts like I pressed on the break really fast several times. I also havr an issue with a cold start when I start it up the truck it acts like it wants to die or looses rpms. I here a paddling coming from the intake valves possibly. Im not sure what part is broke but it makes a rattling sound. Iv brought it to the dealership that I bought the truck from and they say we domt notice anything and its been a struggle to get them to actually thoroughly look into it. Im concerned it will lead to an engine failure because it also loses power and wants to die at times. Iv taken excellent care of the truck and always change oil and any parts on time. It also when I put it in drive makes a loud clunk sound and has a very hard time shifting gears between 3 and 4. Very rough shifting and very concerning.

Ford BlueCruise cut-in non-response Incident date/time: September 29, 2025, ~6:15 PM Location: US-290 East, near Waller, Texas Vehicle: 2025 Ford F-150 Lightning System: Ford BlueCruise (hands-free driver assistance) While traveling eastbound on US-290 with BlueCruise engaged (hands-free with lane centering and adaptive cruise), an 18-wheeler flatbed changed into my lane directly ahead. The system did not decelerate or otherwise respond to the cut-in and continued closing speed on the truck. After a couple of seconds, I manually and rapidly disengaged and braked to prevent a rear-end collision. No contact occurred, but the lack of deceleration created an immediate crash risk.

- #11691905October 7, 2025FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Our 2022 Ford F-150 lost power while trying to proceed into an intersection. I was turning right, exiting a parking lot onto a main road trying to go north. There was a good amount of time with no traffic so I pushed the gas to proceed with my right turn. When I pushed the gas, the truck responded bringing me out into the intersection however before I could get turned the gas pedal stopped responding so I was stuck straight out on the main road with traffic that was heading north coming straight toward my driver side of my truck. I almost got T-boned by multiple vehicles. Traffic slowed and had to stop to move around my truck while I was attempting to get the truck to respond. The truck responded after about 2 minutes of being stalled. We brought the truck into our local ford dealership again (had brought it in before for this same issue described below), they kept it for about a week to try to reproduce the issue again however were not successful again. The dealer said that the truck did not throw any codes when the stall happened and there were no warning lights or messages in the vehicle at the moment that it happened to me. They are now telling us that we need to pick up our truck which we truly do not feel safe in. This is a family vehicle and our daily driver that we drive around our 3 year old child in. It not only put my life in danger that day by stalling, but it put all of the others cars headed toward me - almost T-boning me - in danger. I had a previous instance of this same issue where my truck was non-responsive, but was not on a main road so it wasn't as scary. There were also multiple other times where it experienced the same issue, but did not fully lose power (just kind of lagged when the pedal was pushed). We brought my truck into a local ford dealership for these instances of the issue but they could not reproduce the issue, therefore did not fix it. There was a recall issued for this a couple months back, however currently no fix.

- #11691812October 7, 2025EXTERIOR LIGHTING, STEERING, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
At a stop light vehicle will turn off and nothing electrical will work. It will have to be restarted, While turning at low speeds the electronic steering completely stops working and almost hit another car. All electrical power failure until modules reset then will start. This all happens randomly so it could happen at any point and cause serious injury. Ford can't seem to find a repair for the intermittent issue.

The third brake lights on this generation Raptor are very, very dim. There are three individual/small LED lights, and when the tail lights are on, which includes the third brake light on these vehicles since they act as marker lamps due to the vehicle's width), the third brake lights are not noticeable. This is especially bad in the daytime if the headlights are on, because there is almost no difference in luminescence between the tail lights and brake lights.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle made an abnormal clunking sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The contact stated that the failure progressively worsened. The contact stated that the vehicle made an abnormal grinding sound and jolted erratically while driving, and upon coming to a stop. The dealer diagnosed that the transmission had failed and needed to be replaced. The dealer replaced the transmission; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the transmission, the catalytic converter, and other unknown parts had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150.

- #11690924October 2, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING
Vehicle: 2021 Ford F-150 Component: Exterior Lighting – Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) / Headlights (High Beams) Safety Concern: Vehicle visibility and forward illumination Both daytime running lights (DRLs) on my 2021 Ford F-150 have failed completely. After the DRLs stopped working, the high beams also became inoperative, leaving only the low beams working. The Ford dealer attempted a repair by replacing the control modules, but that did not fix the issue. They advised that the entire headlight assemblies need to be replaced. However, these assemblies are very expensive, so I have not replaced them yet. I am currently limited to using only the low beams. Without DRLs, the truck is less visible during daytime driving, increasing the risk of a collision. Without high beams, nighttime visibility is reduced, especially on rural or dark roads. This failure affects federally required lighting functions, compromising safety in both day and night driving. The problem is not normal wear: these are sealed LED assemblies that should last the life of the vehicle. The fact that both assemblies failed strongly indicates a manufacturing or design defect. Owners face high out-of-pocket costs because the only fix offered is full assembly replacement. Other 2021 F-150 owners have reported similar failures of DRLs and headlights online, showing this is not an isolated incident. I request that NHTSA investigate this issue as a safety defect and require Ford to issue a recall to replace the defective headlight assemblies at no cost to owners.

Low pressure fuel pump failure Yes check engine light is on. Manufacture says there isn't a fix available yet and they have no idea when it will be available. My truck is missing and loosing fuel pressure. This is a 2021 truck and its now 2025. This needs to be fixed or another vehicle if they can't fix , but they have offered no solution.
