POWER TRAIN
I was driving down the interstate, traveling around 70MPH and my check engine light came on as well as a notification to my phone. The phone notification from the Ford Pass app read: POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION / REDUCED POWER What is Happening?: Illuminates when the system has detected a powertrain or a four-wheel drive fault. What should I do?: A powertrain or all wheel drive/four wheel drive fault has been detected. Contact your authorized dealer as soon as possible. The vehicle wasn't responding to me pushing down on the accelerator, as if the engine had just stopped working. I bought this truck new in October of 2021 - it is a 2021 F-150 and currently has only 9,500 miles on the odometer. As soon as this happened, I thought back to an article I saw recently about the Ford Broncos failing.. connecting the dots, the same engine that is failing in the new Broncos, the 2nd generation 2.7L V6 is the same engine in my 2021 F-150. It has not been diagnosed as of this moment, it will be diagnosed tomorrow; however, I am afraid this case is the same as the others reporting issues with the 2nd generation Ford 2.7L V6 - I may need a new motor!

WHEELS
The bolt holding the hub to the axle sheared off. THis truck is less than a year old with 95% highway miles so, not sure what the cause is other than negligence on Ford's end. Without this bolt, the wheel could separate from the axle while driving and cause a serious incident. There was no indication other than a slight rattling I could hear while driving slow with the windows down. It is possible there are many people out there with the same serious issue without knowing. This seems to be a common issue looking through forums of people with the same truck and Ford is giving everyone the run-around. This is too serious of an issue to be taken lightly and an official recall should be made.

VISIBILITY/WIPER
While driving on the highway, the sunroof spontaneously exploded, sending small pieces of glass everywhere including at the vehicle driving behind us. Fortunately our sunroof screen was closed, otherwise the glass would have shattered into the truck on me and 2 kids as well. The loud “bang” caused us to duck and swerve as it sounded like a gunshot. This occurred on a new truck with only 5,000 miles on it. The dealership currently has the truck and upon replacing the sunroof noticed that no sunroof drains were ever installed on the vehicle. We don’t know if this is related to causing the sunroof to explode, but the dealership claims it does not have anything to do with the sunroof shattering.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated that on three separate occasions, the windshield wipers failed to operate as needed without warning. After the second failure, the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where a fuse was replaced; however, the failure returned despite the repair. The contact stated that only wiper fluid would release while attempting to clean the windshield. The contact then took the vehicle to a dealer where they acknowledged that the wiper failure was a known issue; however, replacement parts were not available. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.

This vehicle has a transmission problem relating to how it shifts gears at low speeds. This results in delayed shifts, missed gears, and sometimes a jerk and loud "clunk" when the shift occurs. This is not only distracting (the first time I literally looked back to see if I had hit something, or if something had broken off). This will likely contribute to premature wear and failure which could happen at an inopportune time.

3 weeks after purchasing my truck, I tried to turn on the windshield wipers and they did not work. Later that day I tried again and they worked. Fast forward 3 more weeks and now they do not work at all for. Sometimes I can spray windshield wiper fluid but it will not wipe. Other times spraying doesn’t work neither does the wipers. Been 2 days now. Appointment next week.

The contact stated that several warning messages appeared on the instrument panel as he had stopped the vehicle on the highway shoulder. The contact was able to drive to dealer where he was informed that the failure was a commonly known issue. He was informed that the wiring underneath the engine was soy based and had been eaten up by rodents and other outdoor creatures. The contact was given an estimate for the cost of the repair. The bolt on the end of the axle on the right side sheared off. When this happened the only thing holding the wheel on is the brake caliper. The oil from the broken axle seal leaked onto the brake pads and rotor which reduced their effectiveness. The vehicle is not safe to drive.

Truck check engine light came on and started to blink. The truck would shake when trying to accelerate. Pulled over, turned truck off and the light went off. When started back up it was gone. A few days later the truck did the same thing, but the light did not go off. It remained on, when accelerating the truck began to shake. When I took to the dealer, they mentioned they this truck had a check engine light on when they received, they replaced the ignition coils (under warranty) before purchasing. It’s believed the coils may have gone again. The truck is currently at the dealers getting repaired. For a brand new truck, the coils have already needed to be replaced by dealer.

SERVICE BRAKES
My emergency brake engages in its own. It has done it more than 20times since I have owned the vehicle. The first time it happened was about a month after purchasing. The last time it engaged I was pulling into a parking spot a couple weeks ago. Sometimes it come on when parked and other times The brake light on the dash will flash at me if I am in motion as it engages. When I disengage the brake I can hear the noice as it retracts. I assume typically there is a safety if it engages at high speeds but If this can have a glitch it makes me nervous if it would engage at highway speed and cause an accident. I have small children that ride with me and makes me nervous. I have brought it to the attention of the dealership I bought the vehicle from and they could not find anything wrong. I plan on taking it to a Ford dealership closer to my home as I drove a distance to purchase my vehicle. I believe this to be a huge risk if it would lock up while driving.

The contact owns a 2021 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving approximately 45 MPH at night, the low-beam headlights were very dim. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle back to his residence and noticed that both headlights were completely fogged over. The contact drove the vehicle to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the fogging was normal. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2021 Ford-150. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the under-body panel, power train malfunction, and engine malfunction warning lights illuminated. The contact then heard a scraping sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact was able to safely exit the highway. The vehicle was driven back to the residence with no further issues. On another occasion, while stopped in a parking lot, the check engine and power train warning lights illuminated. The contact’s daughter exited the vehicle and the vehicle lost motive power. The vehicle was restarted and driven back to the residence. The vehicle was then taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. A multipoint inspection was performed and the contact was informed that the waste gate actuator needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact requested a buy back which was declined. The approximate failure mileage was 3,032.
