Summary
Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L PowerBoost engine may experience a loss of engine coolant with possible engine overheat and/or illuminated malfunction indicator (MIL). This may be due to a crack in the exhaust heat exchanger coolant spigots on the top of the exhaust heat exchanger. The exhaust heat exchanger coolant spigots are now released and should be serviced in pairs. It is no longer necessary to replace the muffler inlet pipe assembly for this type of concern. Workshop Manual, Section 309-00D has been updated to include a new service procedure. For claiming, use causal part 18663 and applicable labor operations in Section 05 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. Heat exchanger coolant spigots - NL3Z-18663-A (2 req).

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with light duty electric park brake calipers (minor feature code FAJAK) may exhibit a squeal noise from the rear brakes after sitting for 8 hours or more. To confirm a vehicle is built with minor feature code FAJAK, review the build information by double-clicking the vehicle identification number in the upper left-hand corner in the Professional Technician System (PTS). To correct this condition, replace rear brake disc (ML1Z-2C026-C) and rear brake pads, caliper pin bolts, brake pad clips, and retraction springs (ML3Z-2200-E) on both sides of the vehicle. Refer to Workshop Manual Section 206-04 Rear Disc Brake. For claiming, use causal part number 2552 and applicable labor times from Section 02 of the Service Labor Times Standard Manual. NOTE: Using incorrect service parts on the braking system could impair brake performance.

This may be due to the software in the PCM and the auxiliary battery isolator. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM and replace the auxiliary battery isolator.

Some 2021 F-150 vehicles built on or before 01-Feb-2021, 2017-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine, 2018-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 2.7L EcoBoost or 5.0L engine, 2019-2020 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.0L diesel engine may exhibit a high pitched squeal or whistle type noise from the engine compartment after the engine is shut off. This condition may be due to the air conditioning (A/C) low side system pressure exceeding the high side pressure resulting in equalization of A/C system pressures through the A/C compressor. An updated A/C compressor has been released to resolve this concern. Some 2021-2023 F-150, 2021-2023 F-Super Duty, 2021-2023 Ranger customers may have concerns including, but not limited to: no power to the distribution box, rear camera inoperative, rear park assist inoperative, box lights inoperative, power up/down tailgate inoperative, unable to open tailgate by tailgate switch, and no tailgate ajar message when the tailgate is ajar. These concerns may be caused by faulty connections between the pickup bed, tailgate, rear lamp assemblies, or bumper where connectors are disconnected, damaged, or coated with bedliner. Prior to performing any warranty diagnosis or repairs, verify if the vehicle had an aftermarket spray-in-bedliner. Any repairs resulting from aftermarket products/installation, including but not limited to a spray-in bedliner, are not covered under warranty.

This may be due to a crankshaft front oil seal that is out of position and leaking. To correct the condition, replace the crankshaft front oil seal. Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles equipped with On-Board Scale may exhibit DTC U3000:54 stored in the VDM after replacement and will not clear. This may be due to the configuration data for the VDM. To correct the condition, download and run the VDM - Vehicle Dynamics Module Configuration app using the latest level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). After the VDM configuration has completed, download and run the VDM - On Board Scales Calibration app and perform the Vehicle Payload Update and the Height Sensor Calibration to complete the repair. The Vehicle Payload Update entry in FDRS should correspond with the rating shown on the Tire and Load Information label found on either the B-pillar or the edge of the driver door. For claiming, use causal part 18B008 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards Manual.

Some 2022-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with single exhaust may have various symptoms relating to parking brake, ABS, Traction Control, AdvanceTrac, Park Aid, and/or Locking Differential functionality. Vehicles may also exhibit one or more of the following DTCs in the ABS module: B1111, C1013, C1034, C2005, C2006, C2007, C2008. This condition may be the result of a wiring harness chafing on the left tube of the rear axle. Visually inspect the wiring harnesses in close proximity to the left axle tube, and if damage is found, repair the affected wiring harness following Wiring Diagram Cell 5.

Summary
Some 2017-2023 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with a 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmission may exhibit a whine noise at idle and/or while driving. This may be identified as coming from the bellhousing and the front of the transmission fluid pan. The whine noise may become louder when the transmission is at operating temperature and may increase with engine revolutions per minute (RPM) in the park (P) position. A small amount of whine noise is considered to be characteristic of the 10R60/10R80/10R80 MHT/10R100 transmissions due to the offset gear drivetrain in the front support and has no effect on durability.

Some 2021-2022 F-150 vehicles may not be able to communicate with some emissions testing equipment. Engineering is aware of the concern and is currently working on a solution expected in 2nd Quarter 2023. Monitor OASIS for updates. As a temporary corrective action, technicians may attempt one of the following: (a) Leave the engine running when performing the emissions test, even when the machine prompts to shut the engine off. (b) If a Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) tool is available at the same location as the emissions testing equipment, use the FDRS tool to download and run the On-Demand DTC self-test on the audio front control module (ACM) and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) in the ACM, even if none are present. Then within the same key cycle, connect to the emissions test machine and perform the emissions test immediately.

Some 2023 F-150/Bronco customers may experience inoperative remote start and/or remote lock and unlock through the FordPass application. Diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) U0146:09 may be stored in the telematics control unit (TCU), and U2402:00 and/or U2402:92 may be stored in the gateway module (GWM). Inform the customer they can continue to drive the vehicle. A solution is planned for deployment via Ford Power-Up software updates delivered over-the-air (OTA) beginning June 2023. Software will update automatically on vehicles connected to FordPass. Monitor OASIS for additional information. Schedule a service appointment in late June 2023 for customers that are not connected to FordPass once the repair becomes available.

Some 2021-2023 F-150/Transit, 2022-2023 F-150 Lightning vehicles may experience issues utilizing the Smart Hitch, ProPower Onboard or Onboard Scales features (if equipped) in the FordPass app. Symptoms may include inability to connect, incorrect data displayed in the app, no weight displayed, unable to power on/off the feature, unable to turn on generator mode (gas vehicles only). The connection for these features has been removed from the Android version of the FordPass app, and will soon be removed from the iOS version. The Smart Hitch and Onboard Scales will also be removed in a future FordPass release expected no later than March 1st, 2023. Full functionality of these features will remain in vehicle, but will not be controllable from FordPass. Advise the customer of the FordPass changes and do not perform any repairs for this concern.

Some 2021-2023 F-150 vehicles equipped with BLIS may experience inoperative blind spot monitoring with a Blind Spot System Fault message in the instrument panel cluster. This may also be accompanied by diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) B118C:11 and/or B118C:15 stored in the driver door module (DDM), and/or B118D:11 and/or B118D:15 stored in the passenger door module (PDM). This may be due to the connector going from the mirror to the BLIS module (C576 for driver side, C676 for passenger side) having a pin out condition. To correct this condition, inspect the connector on the side experiencing the issue for a pin out condition and repair the circuit as necessary. Refer to Wiring Diagram, Cell 005, Connector Repair Procedures. If there is no issue with the connector or circuit, continue with normal diagnostics.
