SummarySome 2018-2019 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.0L diesel engine built on or before 19-Oct-2018 may exhibit an illuminated MIL with DTC P2457 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to missing or loose screws in exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system bypass module. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 303-08E. If no concerns are present with the bypass module screws, refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for normal diagnostics. Engineering is investigating, monitor OASIS for updates.

SummaryFor 2010-2019 vehicles equipped with turbocharged engines, when diagnosing and/or replacing turbo related concerns, all steps within the Workshop Manual (WSM) procedure must be followed including replacement of all mandatory discarded parts. For all turbocharged engine applications, the turbocharger oil supply filter (6C683 gas engine/6L625 connector style or 6A968 diesel engine) must be replaced whenever the turbocharger or the turbocharger oil supply tube are replaced. Turbocharger bearing failure may occur if oil starvation occurs due to a restricted filter.

SummarySome 2011-2019 F-Super Duty, 2015-2019 Transit, 2016-2019 F-650/F-750 and 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 6.7L, 3.2L or 3.0L engine may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P207F, P20EE, P229F, P2201 and/or P24AE. This may be a result of using aftermarket cleaning liquids or tools for the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler or intake. Ford does not recommend the cleaning of diesel intakes or EGR coolers using any aftermarket tool that injects a cleaning foam or liquid substance into the EGR cooler or intake. Using these types of fluids can result in sodium poisoning of the NOx and particulate matter (PM) sensors resulting in degraded operation and permanent damage to the aftertreatment system. Use of these cleaning tools may void the emissions warranty of the hot end aftertreatment exhaust system and the attached emissions sensors.

Summary2013-2019 vehicles equipped with a LKS system with customer complaints of steering wheel vibration, steering pull or vehicle drift may be due to an alert and/or steering aid input from the LKS. The LKS system detects unintentional drifting toward the outside of the lane and alerts and/or aids vehicle to stay in the lane. Be sure the customer understands how the lane departure warning feature settings work for Alert (steering wheel vibration) and Aid (steering input toward lane center). Further information on the LKS can be found in the owners manual. If the customers concern is due to the LKS functioning as intended, do not attempt to repair.

SummaryWhen connecting the Vehicle Communication Module (VCM) and Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) to the DLC located on the driver side under the steering column at the GWM, make sure that the ignition is off before connecting the VCM. If the ignition is on or the engine is running during the connection, it can result in various warning lights being illuminated with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), no start, no crank conditions or the IPC inoperative. If a vehicle displays these issues, disconnect the equipment from the DLC and disconnect the vehicle battery. Wait 10 minutes and reinstall with the ignition off. Clear any DTCs present and retest.

SummarySome 2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 3.0L diesel engines which have experienced fuel system contamination may have damaged fuel system components including the high pressure fuel pump and injectors. Fuel and additives which do not meet the minimum lubrication, cooling, and anti-corrosion properties required by the high pressure fuel system components may cause symptoms including, but not limited to crank no start, long crank hard start, runs rough, low power, engine knocking, exhaust smoke, and or fuel rail pressure slow to build. The Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 310-00E has been updated to include service procedures to address fuel system contamination.

SummarySome 2017-2019 F-Super Duty/2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with the 6.7L or 3.0L engines may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with DTC P208E in the powertrain control module (PCM). When performing pinpoint test RK, the results of the selective catalyst reductant (SCR) dosing measurement test (RK7) may be zero or below the specified 40-50mL requirement due to urea crystals plugging the DEF injector nozzle. If the measurement is below this specified amount, perform pinpoint test step RK7 two additional times. If the specified amount is met, reinstall the reductant injector. If after three attempts the dosing measurement remains below the specified amount, the DEF injector should be replaced. The DEF pump should not be replaced for DTC P208E. Engineering is investigating. Monitor OASIS for updates.
