SummarySome 2015-2019 vehicles may experience a no crank concern due to a security access key table error. When attempting to program keys or perform a parameter reset, the procedure may fail and the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool may display an error 232: Key Table Not Allocated. If this error message is encountered, the body control module (BCM) is internally damaged and requires replacement. The BCM should only be replaced for this condition when the 232 key table error message is present. If the 232 key table error is not present, follow normal diagnostics for the no crank condition. For claiming, use causal part 15604 and applicable labor operations in section 10 of the Service Labor Times Standards (SLTS) manual.

SummarySome 2017-2019 F-150 and 2018-2019 Expedition/Navigator vehicles built on or before 1-Apr-2019 and equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit excessive oil consumption with no visible oil leaks with or without diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0365 and/or P0369. This may be due to a concern with the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) system. To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to verify the condition and replace the valve covers.

Summary2019 F-150/Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with four-wheel drive (4WD) have a revised transfer case control module (TCCM) strategy that will affect integrated wheel end (IWE) operation after initial start up. The TCCM will not energize the solenoid to supply vacuum to the IWEs after the initial key cycle and a driven gear is selected. The IWEs will remain engaged for 0.8 km (0.5 mi) when the temperature is above 0Ã âC (32Ã âF) and 3 km (2 mi) when below 0Ã âC (32Ã âF). The strategy changes were implemented to improve vacuum supply management and axle warm up in cold temperatures. The engine must run for a minimum of 5 minutes to build sufficient vacuum before performing any vacuum related testing. Refer to the Workshop Manual (WSM) Section, 307-08A - Four-Wheel Drive Systems - System Operation and Component Description for additional information.

SummarySome 2015-2018 F-150/Expedition/Navigator vehicles equipped with a 3.5L/2.7L EcoBoost engine and four-wheel drive (4WD) may exhibit an intermittent grinding type noise while driving in two-wheel drive (2WD), most commonly on acceleration. This noise could appear to be turbocharger related. After engineering analysis of returned turbochargers that have been replaced for this condition, no concerns were identified with the turbochargers. The grinding type noise may be related to the 4WD system integrated wheel ends (IWE). To aid in diagnosis, shift the vehicle to 4WD and attempt to verify the condition. If the grinding noise no longer occurs with the vehicle in 4WD a IWE vacuum system and/or mechanical fault may be present.

SummarySome 2015-2019 F-150 vehicles may exhibit a glove compartment door that appears misaligned along the storage tray or right side instrument panel when closed. This may be due to the position of the glove compartment storage tray rubber mat or the seating of the glove compartment door strikers or glove compartment door hinge pins. To resolve the condition, follow the Service Procedure steps to reposition or adjust the affected component.

SummarySome 2018-2019 F-150, Expedition, and Navigator vehicles may exhibit a concern of inoperative adaptive cruise control with no associated diagnostic trouble code (DTC). This concern may occur if the hot in run or start switched power is not present at the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module on circuit CBB17. A load test is recommended to test the ABS module power and ground circuits.

This may be due to the incorrect positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve installed. If the PCV valve is brown in color, refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for normal diagnostics. If the PCV valve is gray in color, replace the PCV valve, clear the DTC, and retest. If the DTC returns, refer to the PC/ED for normal diagnostics.

SummaryOn vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission it is imperative that the converter pilot hub be greased with Motorcraft Multi-Purpose Grease Spray XL-5-A even if grease was not applied from the factory. Also verify that the engine/transmission alignment dowel pins are present as well as the engine crankshaft dowel pin, if equipped, when installing the transmission. Failure to adequately lubricate the converter hub greatly increases the likelihood of the flexplate cracking in the future. Missing dowels may cause a misalignment issue also resulting in a premature failure. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01.

SummarySome 2018-2019 F-150 and Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine may exhibit a light to moderate knocking type noise at idle (600-700 RPM) that is sometimes described as a quiet diesel type sound. The noise is usually more prominent on the passenger side of the vehicle toward the rear of the engine. As the engine comes up to operating temperature, the noise level increases slightly. This noise is not detrimental to engine function and has no short or long term effects on engine durability. This an operating characteristic of the 5.0L engine and no repairs should be attempted. Refer to the Service Procedure

SummarySome 2018-2019 F-150 and Mustang vehicles equipped with a 5.0L engine built on or before 30-Apr-2019 may exhibit a chirping type noise from the upper engine front cover area at warm or hot idle. This noise may sound similar to a front engine accessory drive (FEAD) chirp noise. This may be due to the primary timing chain tensioner oil pressure relief valve. To correct the condition, replace the primary timing chain tensioners. Follow the Service Procedure.

SummarySome 2013-2019 vehicles equipped with a EVDC air conditioning (A/C) compressor may exhibit poor A/C performance/improper climate function and/or a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P06A0 in the powertrain control module (PCM). To support the proper diagnosis of this compressor, the EVDC control valve tester has been developed and is available from Rotunda (339-EVDC100). A tester has been provided to each U.S. dealership free of charge with shipments completed 19-Apr-2019 (reference EFC07013 on FMCDealer.com). This tester will help reduce the potential for misdiagnosis and unnecessary compressor replacement. Make sure that this tester is used for warranty repairs and document the test results in the Technician Comments field. Refer to the Rotunda catalog for a video and user manual which provide detailed operating instructions.

SummarySome 2018-2019 F150, Expedition, and Navigator vehicles equipped with a 3.5L EcoBoost engine may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P0365 and/or P0369 stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to low engine oil level, low engine oil pressure, or worn/damaged variable camshaft timing (VCT) units. Before performing Powertrain Control and Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual diagnostics, inspect the engine oil level and evaluate any abnormal VCT noise conditions. If engine oil level is correct and no unusual engine noises are present, proceed with normal diagnostics per PC/ED pinpoint test (PPT) DR.
