While driving my car it stopped all of a sudden leaving the car behind to slide out of control so not to hit me. A light came on. when I read the code it said vehicle ignition switch. This also happened a year ago only the car didn’t stop it slowed down to 5 miles an hour. I did repair it a year ago only for it to happen again. This is a very serious thing as I had my grand babies with me and the car behind me had three children.

I was driving from getting my daughter from school and felt heat and saw smoke coming from under the dashboard. I immediately pulled over and pulled my daughter out of the car the dashboard became engulfed in flames. I was told by the fire department that it looked like and electrical and fuel issue under the dash. There are known problems with this vehicle catching fire but my cin number when I looked up recalls did not have any on it. My insurance company also stated they had many claims against the make model of vehicle regarding fire issues do to manufacturers issues.

While driving at highway speed, 65mph, the 2013 Town and Country shut down. The dash instruments and all internal lighting shut off, the radio shut off and the blower fan for heat shut off. I lost the ability to steer and brake (power steering went out) but managed to maneuver the vehicle to the right lane. The car would not respond to any acceleration attempt. I tried turning the key while coasting down the highway, the vehicle did not restart. I then put the vehicle into neutral and tried turning the key and it did not restart. I then turned the key to the off position and then tried to restart and it successfully started. My dash instruments illuminated, the radio and heat blower came back on and I was able to regain control of the vehicle.

2014 Chrysler Town & Country – VIN [XXX] Both front active head restraints (driver and passenger) have self-deployed without any crash or impact, on two separate occasions about 3–4 years apart. The first occurred around 2019. Each time we were driving normally with occupants seated. We heard a sudden “pop” and the head restraint opened, exposing the internal mechanism. No one was struck or injured, but the unexpected deployment was distracting and occurred close to an occupant. After each event, the head restraint could not be reset or closed and remains deployed. The vehicle now has an airbag/SRS warning light that stays on, suggesting the restraint system may not function properly in a crash. There were no warning lights or symptoms before deployment. The deployed head restraints are still installed and available for inspection. A Chrysler dealer previously acknowledged the issue and ordered a replacement head restraint, but the repair was not completed due to relocation during the COVID period. Fuel Relay System Failure When searching online apparently this is such an extremely common issue there is a special bypass part that was made, and part of a recall for durangos and jeeps but not the town and country, even though this part is failing all the time in this vehicle as well. Before it went completely dead, it did fail once when I was driving, which is a huge safety issue. I was lucky it started again and that I wasn’t going very fast. I didn’t know at the time that is was the fuel relay system failing until it finally stopped working and my car no longer started. Once bypassed with the bypass part it started immediately, however I had to buy the bypass part to confirm. This should be a recalled issue though, since it is an extremely hazardous issue if it causes failures while driving

2015 Chrysler Town and Country lost propulsion power while driving, endangering 2 occupants and surrounding drivers. While driving on a residential road, vehicle came to a stop at intersection. Upon attempting to accelerate from stop and applying gas, vehicle jolted and would not accelerate past 5 miles an hour with transmission engaging and disengaging while shifter was in drive. Vehicle's transmission would intermittently engage and disengage for 1/2 mile with no warning lights or error messages. Vehicle idled as normal, but vehicle would not engage transmission properly when shifter set to "Drive" position. Vehicle was then parked in driveway off of the road.

After the Chrysler dealer in Glendale CA completed Recall S44 – Transmission Oil Pump on my 2016 Chrysler Town & Country in October 3 2025, the transmission began to malfunction and eventually stopped shifting completely. The dealer drained the transmission fluid, removed both front axles, removed all transmission components, and replaced the transmission oil pump, seals, bolts, and torque converter as required by the recall. The transmission is available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: The vehicle became unsafe to drive when the transmission began shifting erratically and then failed to shift at all, causing sudden loss of acceleration in traffic and posing a risk to myself and others. Diagnostic Codes: Before the recall, the vehicle had code P06DE (Engine Oil Pressure Control). Chrysler has a documented TSB for P06DE requiring a PCM software update, but the dealer did not perform this update during the recall. After the recall, the vehicle developed new code P0760 (Shift Solenoid C Malfunction), which was not present prior to the recall and appeared only after the transmission was reassembled. Inspection and Confirmation: The dealer confirmed P0760 but refused further inspection or repair, stating it was “not related,” despite the failure occurring immediately after major recall-related transmission work. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer. The failure is reproducible: the transmission will not shift. Reason for Complaint: This failure happened shortly after the S44 recall, which involved complete transmission disassembly. The combination of new post-recall transmission codes, the absence of a required PCM software update, and the sudden unsafe failure raises concern that the recall work may not have been performed correctly. I request NHTSA review whether Recall S44 repairs are causing secondary failures or being improperly completed

I have had two 2016 Town & Country’s both of which have the same issue of the automatic high beam occasionally not turning off for oncoming vehicles. I have in fact been pulled over because they failed to turn off for a Michigan state police officer. The problem occurs most when on a large divided highway such as an interstate or in curves. This has been an issue ongoing with both of them and the sensor has been since discontinued by Chrysler so I can’t try replacing it anymore however the fact that both of mine have done this indicates to me that this is a larger problem.

The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed in traffic, the vehicle stalled. The contact shifted to neutral(N) and was able to drive to the intended destination. The contact stated that while driving and attempting to stop the vehicle, the vehicle required to be shifted to neutral(N) repeatedly. In addition, the contact stated that on another occasion, the vehicle independently accelerated, prompting the contact to immediately depress the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had occurred several times. In addition, the check engine warning light later illuminated. The contact used a fuel treatment to clean the fuel; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with thermostat and transmission failure. The contact was provided DTC: P0128 with DTC Severity of 2 of 3. The contact was informed that the thermostat and transmission needed to be replaced. The contact stated that only the thermostat was being replaced. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not associated with any recall. The contact referenced an unknown recall with a similar failure description, but the VIN was not associated with the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Chrysler Town and Country. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 35 MPH, the charging port located between the 2nd and 3rd row seating on the driver’s side caught on fire. No warning light was illuminated before the failure. The contact pulled off a busy roadway and pulled into a parking lot, all while her 3-year-old son was seated in the 2nd row rear driver's side seat and was being surrounded by smoke. The contact stated that it took approximately 10 minutes to pull over and safely exit the vehicle to remove her son from the vehicle. The contact's son received medical attention for smoke inhalation. The Police and local Fire Department arrived on the scene and extinguished the fire. A Fire report was filed however, the Fire report number was not provided. The origin of the fire was the 110-Volt charging port due to an electrical failure. The contact stated that the child seat was also damaged and needed to be replaced due to the plastic being burned. The vehicle was towed to the residence, where it remained for several weeks. However, the vehicle was later towed back to the local independent dealer where the vehicle was purchased and remained at the dealer for further investigation. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.
