Driving on a farm to market road, I passed a slow dump truck, when I let off the gas, every light on my dash came on, I lost all power and my engine started knocking. I Had 60662 miles on it. I bought it with 442 miles on it. The rod bearing went out and threw the rod thru the block. Complete engine replacement. The issue is not only on the 6.2 motors, I know many 5.3 ecotec owners that have had this issue as well as me. gm file # 9-13551227044.

- #11656337April 23, 2025SERVICE BRAKES
When going at low speeds like through a parking lot when I apply my brakes they get rock hard and do not want to stop. I can get it stopped but just barely. When going at normal driving speed 30mph plus they are fine and stop fine. I almost pulled into a car in a parking lot because I almost couldn't stop due to my brakes failing. This happens every time I go at low speeds 25mph and less

Engine (v8) lost power and made terrible noise at 72,000 miles. Dealer installed a remanufactured engine and charged me $5109 and took 12 weeks to complete the work. GM claimed there were “unaware” of any issues with these engines even though an internet search showed tons and f people with the same problem.

While driving on the highway the engine shimmered and shut down. I lost all steering and braking power. After 20 minutes I was able to restart and drive off the highway at a reduced speed. upon exiting the engine died again. The following day I took it to sunrise Chevy in Glendale Hights IL as this was just down the road from where it sat all night. Service rep called and said I need a new engine with only 81000 miles. It was major lifter failure he said. Job was done at a cost of 9417.89. With less than 1000 miles on the new GM engine I was coming home on [XXX] at night when I lost all power to steering and brakes, dashboard lit up. Made it to the shoulder and towed back to the dealer. Once again major engine failure. At least this one was under warranty. but still very dangerous on the highway. Needs to be a recall please. Number 7 cylinder valve failed. “Good Morning Mr. [XXX] . I have some updates on your vehicle. Based on my technicians inspection cylinder 7 is misfiring. He removed valve cover and found a stuck rocker arm caused by collapsed lifter. may need camshaft will know further when engine is tore down.” Then they quoted an outrageous bill. This is an on going issue with General Motors. Why is this not being fixed by the corporation? The truck doesn’t even have 100k miles on it and it’s been kept up routinely. I am the original owner and feel that problem has been going on for over 10 years now. GM should be held accountable. At 383 miles the engine started a ticking noise. Around the same mileage the transmission would also start make hard down shifts, especially into 1st gear. At around 27000 miles transmission would also shutter at light loads and low speeds. Attempted to take it to dealer 2 different times, but they had no loaner cars and needed it for more than a day. At milage 28,251 I drove to the dealership an insisted that it needed to be fixed. They were able to provide loaner car at that time. Engine ticking noise was cylinder number 7 lifter stuck closed. Transmission was unable to be checked due to engine needing repair. The Dealer replace all 8 lifters on drivers side of engine. Upon the fix they test drove for the transmission problem and noticed noise coming from the water pump. Replaced the water pump and was told transmission needed a new valve body. Those parts were on back order for over 3 months. They found a service bulletin to reprogram the transmission so they could release the truck to me instead of hold months for parts. After more than 30 days in shop picked up truck. After driving around for a few hours noticed engine noise again but different. Like a bearing? Dealer had already closed so took it back the next day. Couple days later was informed that the head gasket was installed wrong? REALLY. Went to the dealer's new car manager and asked to be traded out of it and into a new truck. Dealer offered me 10,000 below blue book for trade in! They didn't even want their own product back. Picked up truck couple days later and drove straight to Toyota and traded it in I needed a reliable truck. The dealer's service department was great with the problem. But it's the product that really [XXX] and had the potential to be very dangerous. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

03/09/2025 Purchased 2005 Chev Silverado 1500 from Tony's Trade Co, Inc. Owner stated he had been a highly respected licensed used car dealer 34 years. AutoCheck had no issues. 1-Component: Right Rear Shock absorber--critical suspension part (49 CFR Section 570.8 Suspension Systems)-mechanic agrees. Upper mounting bracket to frame totally rusted away. Bottom of shock absorber attached--top floating in the air. Shock absorber is untouched and available for inspection. 2-Truck was driven at highway speeds several time before unattached shock absorber noticed - found. One trip included a medium load for the truck. 3-Free floating shock absorber top is apparent in pictures. I sent the used car dealer a photo of the detached shock absorber top and mount. Will pay for a professional view and statement of the shock absorber if requested by you. Heavy rust under the truck bed/frame will require extensive metal replacement to make a hard connection bracket for attachment. 4-No manufacturer, police, etc inspection. Detached and severely rusted shock absorber top and frame bracket are obvious in pictures. Will get reports if needed. 5-No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem until I tried to remove the spare tire to fix and clean it. Spare hoist was severely rusted and unable to lower--cut hoist cable tip and let drop on floor. That is when I was able to see the detached right rear shock absorber. 6 EXTRA: Seller quote: "this is a good truck. I would sell to anyone. Like new tires and does not need one thing mechanical and in excellent condition." Tires range from DOT 2622 to DOT 1323-not new. Extreme frame rust. I drive truck 35-45 mph twice/week on low traffic highway to keep truck running and battery charged. Reported to AL Dept of Revenue 8 Apr 25--ALDOR-127348-said I would get response in 24 hours, none yet. I called seller was told truck was sold "as is". Seller will not answer phone or text messages.
