Component is transmission. Stutter vibrate shift while driving. There is a recall on the 2021 Chevy 1500 Silverado which is exactly the issue we are having from our 2021 Silverado. The VIN for our truck is falling under the current recall. Chevy wants to charge to even diagnose the problem which has to be done with a dealer and not a private place. That is absurd and puts our safety at risk should the vehicle stop functioning while driving it. The dealer ship has inspected the vehicle for the yearly inspections which is interesting since this has happened and been complained about since purchase.

Since brand new engine has had oil consumption issues. Countless times I have been told it is ok and there is no problems with it. I took it to a different dealer and I am now being told I need to replace pistons and rings.

"The vehicle has developed a recurring ticking/knocking noise in the engine, worsening under acceleration, accompanied by excessive oil consumption. This is a repeat issue after a warranty repair on June 6, 2022, where all 8 lifters on the right bank were replaced due to AFM/DFM lifter failure. I believe the current problem is caused by metal debris from the initial failure scoring cylinder walls, rings, and bearings, leading to lower-end damage. GM denied coverage under Special Coverage Adjustment N242498000 despite the prior repair and matching symptoms in bulletin PIP5623. Johnson Motor Sales quoted $14,893.89 for engine replacement. The noise and oil loss pose a safety risk of sudden engine failure or loss of power while driving, potentially causing a crash."

I own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 35 MPH entering the flow of traffic, the vehicle lost power with the engine misfiring. The messages "Service Parking Brake" and "Service ESC" were displayed. The check engine warning light was also illuminated. I drove to the nearest dealership the vehicle was diagnosed that cylinder #5 lifters had collapsed. The dealer informed me that the cylinder lifters needed to be replaced. Additionally, the camshaft would be replaced as necessary. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer will be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000. and I was informed that my service contract had expired less than 2 months ago

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 30-40 MPH, the check engine warning light and other unknown warning lights were illuminated, and the engine was running rough. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was informed that the vehicle could not be diagnosed due to a lack of equipment. The vehicle was then taken to Gary Sapp Automotive, where it was diagnosed with engine failure. The mechanic determined that the engine needed to be taken apart for the repair or replacement. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under an extended warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that while slowing down and coming to a stop, the accelerator pedal was depressed while in drive; however, the vehicle started to roll backwards. The contact depressed the brake pedal to prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards, and the RPM became elevated to 5,000 RPM. The contact immediately turned off the vehicle to prevent the RPM from continuing to increase. The vehicle was shifted to park, restarted, and then shifted to drive(D) and the brakes released. While releasing the brake pedal, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was immediately turned off and towed to the residence. The dealer was informed of the failure of the clutch pack, which was welded together from friction. The dealer scheduled an appointment; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

The rear window of my 2017 Chevy Silverado exploded. I had the rear defrosters on, and they malfunctioned. I thought I smelled something hot before this happened. I am surprised this didn't cause a fire. I have researched this issue, and it appears to be an ongoing problem with the 2014 - 2019 Silverado and Sierra trucks. In fact, Canada has a recall on this issue, but the U.S. does not. Why is that?

- #11698917November 12, 2025ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
The contact owns a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as needed, and the vehicle lost motive power and came to a stop in the middle of a four-lane highway. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was unable to pull over to the side of the road, and the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, where it could not be serviced. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where metal shavings were found in the oil pan, and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle remained at the dealer for a month, and the dealer was in the process of ordering the part. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V274000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that assistance would not be provided because the vehicle was purchased used and was not covered under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

The transmission quite working while I was driving down the road. Took my foot off of the gas pedal and my truck bogged down completely and had no power to it. It is at an auto repair shop so I am unaware if it could be inspected under request. Took time but was able to safely get off the roadway and out of traffic. It did the out of no where. Started having some issues this summer but no warnings lights ever came on, so I didn’t think much about it. Completely stopped in the middle of the road and had little to no power from the transmission to the truck to move off of the road. My truck is currently in an auto repair shop waiting on a new transmission to be installed. I had it towed to an independent auto shop from where it stalled. There were not warning lamps or anything at the time of my transmission quitting. Truck started to run rough and shifting hard this summer but without warning lamps I didn’t take it anywhere. When running on the interstate it was shuttering which I thought was due to possible tire out of balance. It would also hesitate to take off when put into drive. It had several of the same issues that Chevy had on other transmissions that were recalled within this same time frame.
