ONCE THE APM WARMS UP, IT WILL INITIALIZE AND PERFORM AS DESIGNED. HOWEVER, DURING THE TIME THAT THE APM IS NOT OPERATIONAL, IT COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST AND THE BATTERY MAY NOT CHARGE. IF THIS CONDITION OCCURS, THE SERVICE POWER STEERING, SERVICE HYBRID SYSTEM, OR SERVICE BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM MESSAGE WILL APPEAR IN THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER, THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP AND RED BATTERY TELLTALE MAY ILLUMINATE, AND DTC U1821 AND U182A WILL BE PRESENT.   This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a vibration that is felt between 1200 ? 1400 engine revolutions per minute when in active fuel management V4 mode. Technician will need to use J?38792-A Electronic Vibration Analyzer 2 or CH?51450-NVH Pico Oscilloscope Diagnostic Kit to measure the frequency of the vibration. Technician will need to remove and replace the exhaust muffler clamp that joins the three-way catalytic converter assembly to the pipe of the muffler assembly. After the exhaust is reinstalled remove and reinstall each cab mounts and retest.

Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes C0398, C038D or C0397. Technician will need to reprogram the Transfer case control module with latest software available through tis2web. If the vehicle has Regular Production Option Code (NQH) and has a Diagnostic Trouble Code C0398 setting after being Dinghy towed please see the latest version of PIP5217. If the vehicle has a Diagnostic Trouble Code C0398, inspect circuits 7477, 7478, 7479 for any terminal or connection issues between the B2227 Gear Position Sensor and the Transfer Case Control Module and repair as needed.

  This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that are travelling from Canada to the United States. While in the United States they are unable to receive Turn-by-Turn directions. Due to the existing cellular provider not having roaming agreements in areas outside of Canada to support transmitting of the packet data required for Turn-By-Turn feature to operate. The customer has 3 options while traveling through the United Sates. First if the vehicle is equipped with a navigation radio they can request a "Destination Download" to the vehicle. Second if the customer uses the OnStar RemoteLink app they can send the directions to the vehicle. The third option would be to have the vehicle loaded with a ?500 phone number? The customer will no longer be able to use their Hands Free Calling minutes when the new 500 phone number is loaded. If a customer chooses to restore Hands Free Calling in the future a new phone number will be assigned to the vehicle; previous phone numbers are not available.

THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE LOOSE SPARK PLUG WIRES THAT ARE NOT SECURED AT THE SPARK PLUG OR COIL ATTACHMENT. LOOSE SPARK PLUG WIRES CAN CAUSE A MISFIRE CONDITION RESULTING IN P0300 DTC BEING SET WITH MIL (“SERVICE ENGINE SOON” LIGHT). CONTINUED OPERATION WITH THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER."
