FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
While driving, the car started making a whining sound on acceleration. As I was driving up my street the car went into limp mode and shut down, only allowing enough time to park. If this had happened on a main road or freeway it could have caused an accident due to the sudden loss of power. The issue is the high pressure fuel pump and has been confirmed by a Chevrolet dealer service center. I reported the issue to GM asking for assistance with the repair and to explore whether or not this could fall under the power train warranty. Mileage at the time of the incident was 39113. The only warning lights that appeared came on as the car went into "limp mode" but no warning prior to this incident.

The contact owns a 2025 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while reversing at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered and stalled. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact became aware that transmission fluid was leaking from the bottom of the vehicle and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000.

Steering feels slightly loose and keeps drifting to the left. When I have people in the backseat and I take off from a stop, the vehicle swerves to the left. Hoping the dealership will do an alignment when I take it in.

POWER TRAIN
My new 2025 Equinox RS AWD ran out of gas entering a 55 MPH highway. I tried to roll to the shoulder, and I came to a stop half on the right shoulder and half in the lane. When a 2025 Equinox RS AWD won't run, in this case because it is out of gas, there is no way to shift the car out of Park and into Neutral so it could be rolled out off the road, or on to a Tow truck ramp. When a 2025 Equinox RS AWD isn't running, it's locked in Park, and in order to move it needs to be jacked up and set on wheel dollies, for all four wheels.

STEERING
The steering wheel seizes at highway speeds after driving for an extended period (2+ hours.) The steering seems to lock into a position so while approaching a curve you're unable to steer toward the center of the lane, requiring you to jerk the steering wheel towards the center of the lane to prevent going out of the lane. This issue was reported and taken to multiple GM dealerships to address and they keep insisting it's Lane keep assist, it is not as this issue happens when it's turned of, further more lane keep assist usually nudges a vehicle back in lane or vibrates to warn you're drifting out of a lane. It does not actively try to pull you out of a lane as We've experienced with this car. This is a deadly hazard that may cause an inattentive drive to over steer into an accident, and because of it's intermittent nature, It will be surprising and scary causing less experienced drivers to overreact to it. I'm afraid this may be a latent safety fault within the 2025 Chevy Equinox, that will eventually cost lives, and worst part, this cause may not be detected for a long time.. I hope more instances of this gets reported to force GM and it's dealerships to spend the proper effort to hunt down this safety issue and address it before it's too late

I want to explain my case to protect a future person with this problem and that they soon take action. This has happened to me on 2 occasions. [XXX], my vehicle suddenly stopped at a speed of 55 miles on [XXX] in Miami and the car dashboard showed a lack of gasoline power that the gas pump stopped working, braking the car abruptly and with a high risk that a vehicle could collide with me at high speed. I had to pay for a tow truck to the Chevrolet Auto National Doral dealership in Miami. The vehicle only had 28,000 miles and it took a month to repair the vehicle. Time passes and on [XXX] the same thing happens to me at a speed of 60 miles on [XXX] in the city of West Palm Beach, the vehicle failed and braked abruptly and stopped working with the same risk that a vehicle could hit me. I had to request a tow truck for the area dealership AutoNation Chevrolet Greenacres and they tell me that the warranty had expired because the vehicle has 54,000 miles explaining that the car has had the same problem on several occasions and that it was a factory problem and that it had been repaired recently in a year and they tell me that I have to pay $ 1,000 dollars for the repair and I want to file this complaint so that an inspection is done on that entire vehicle because they all have the same problem and they should not charge the customer for a problem due to factory defects in this vehicle. Started into traffic and vehicle quickly slowed way down and then started to move again. At next light power lost again. Do not remember if warning light came on but it was not there prior to the incident. Towed to dealer. Fuel pump replaced. One month later accelerating to exit in heavy traffic it lost power. Engine light came on saying something to the effect engine power lost. It Started back up quickly and I got safely where I was going. It was running ok so I finished another 400 miles of trip. Dealer service tech on phone said probably stabilizer did what it’s suppose to do and probably avoided something serious. Not too much driving since then but I can tell I don’t have the pick up I should have when accelerating. Afraid each time I give pressure to the pedal that it might stall again as it doesn’t pick up speed as I’ve been used to. Taking to dealer for 30,000 mile service and to check this out. Was told if no dash light warning they could check it out but probably will check out fine.

At a stop sign while waiting for passing traffic, the car shuddered and the engined died. Attempts to restart the car failed. The car had roughly 1/4 tank of gas. Towed to a mechanic who put 2 gallons of gas in it and started the engine. Two days leading up to this, with the instrument panel on the screen that shows estimated distance remaining and fuel economy, I observed the fuel economy number changing wildly as I drove, going up to 99 mpg every time I let off the gas and coasted to a stop. Seems to be an electronic component for fuel has failed. When the car had died, the engine light came on. It was off after adding more fuel and restarting the car. NHTSA website says there are 0 outstanding recall repairs for this VIN. So if the faulty fuel pump was replaced under NHTSA Campaign 23V013000, it has failed again. NHTSA website does not show any date/location of said prior recall repairs, so I have doubts whether it was ever actually repaired.

The car vibrates hard, like being on the rumble strip, but only while driving about 1.7 rpm to 2 rpm and only sometimes. The transmission light came on. The dealer said it was leaking and fixed it. A few days later, the vibrating is back. It's at the dealer again. Still don't know what's wrong. I only have 4,500 miles on the car so far.

The contact's wife's cellphone had alerted her to the update; however, she was unable to access the vehicle for 15 minutes. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse, the transmission failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the reverse symbol was displayed on the instrument panel, and there was an abnormal clunking sound coming from the vehicle. The local dealer was contacted, and informed the contact that the automatic update was normal. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 999.

While driving, all my displays which includes speed and car warning indicators, went blank and the red light (collision warning) started flashing as if there was something in front of my car, but my car acted fine. I pulled over and then everything slowly came back on. The car continued to run just fine. It was just both displays went totally black and then the red collision warning lights were flashing. Car never turned off. Never had to restart car. No resets performed. Displays came back on after a short period of time. Interesting, the radio and volume had to be turned back on. Acted as if displays rebooted, but did not affect car mobility.

Winter of 2023/early 2024- during very cold period, I was on the freeway where it is 70 mph, and received a warning of a power train underboost- car said low power mode. It was caused by water accumulating and freezing. According to the Cheverolet bulletin, it was a known issue and I had the car serviced with the wrap put on it required. This was a scary event because I was on the highway and could not go the speed limit and had to exit. Fast forward to this past winter: early 2025- very cold period. Again had a low power mode when I was accelerating to get on the freeway from the ramp, suddenly could not get to speed and was passed on the on-ramp- exceedingly scary and unsafe, had to drive with hazards on and exit next exit. It was an overboost error that caused it. Again, water froze in the valve. new fix is to put a "bra" on the lower part of the grill when it is below freezing and take it off when it is not freezing out. Ridiculous fix with 20 clips and it is a true safety issue.
