Ignition Switch/Steering/Transmission??? When I went to start my truck the key would not turn. I tried to jiggle the steering wheel but it was locked up tight. I checked to make sure that it was fully in park and it was. As a last resort I kicked the front tire as the wheel was turned slightly. I tried again to jiggle wheel and turn key, after several attempts key finally turned and started. I moved truck forward straightening wheels then shut truck off and went inside to gather my things to run errands. When I came back out the ignition once again locked up on me. After numerous attempts I was finally able to get the key to engage. When I ran my errands I left the keys in the ignition and in the accessory position instead of fully shutting the engine off. THIS IS MY SAFETY CONCERN 1) My battery could run down leaving me stranded, 2) My truck could be stolen 3) I could have removed the keys and taken the chance that I MAY or MAY NOT have gotten the key to engage again, potentially leaving me stranded with groceries, etc. Dealership cannot get me in for more than a week from now, 9 days actually. It will be a Friday... who knows if they will even get it repaired in one day.

- #11572767February 19, 2024SERVICE BRAKES
I went to a Chevy Dealership, Ed Morse, Sunrise Fla. for an oil change and they told me I need all 4 new brake pads at estimated mileage of 27000 miles. I was shocked because I never needed brake pads that soon. I called Chevrolet corporate to see if there was something defective that they could tell me about. Chevrolet Customer Service filed a case and told me to take to a dealership in my home town, Tallahassee Florida. I scheduled an appointment with Dale Earnhardt Chevrolet. When I went there they told me it would be $199.00 on my credit card. I told them it under warranty and they told me that was their policy. I called Chevy CS and they said that there was nothing they could do. I did tell them this is a safety issue but they didn't care. The brakes are completing worn so there must be an issue with the system for the vehicle to go through brakes so soon. It is driven mostly highway and I am [XXX]. The steering lost power. It has happened three times now. It could be moved to the side but only with a lot of manual turning. We took it to the dealership after the first time. They wouldn’t do anything, not even an assessment. I am blind and my caregiver drives me with this vehicle. I need it to be safe not only for myself but for those who help me as well.

While driving at highway speeds the power steering suddenly stopped working. It was definitely a safety hazard as I had all I could do to get off the road!

At the beginning of November I was out shopping, when I returned to my vehicle, the driver side door would not open. Luckily I was fit enough to crawl through from the passenger side. I promptly called the Chevy dealership for an inspection/ repair. I feel this was an emergency situation. I didn’t even want to think about what would happen if I were in a vehicle accident, and couldn’t get out, or, no one could get in. I was able to get an appointment at the dealership for November 16, 2023. My Chevy is always parked in covered garage, there was no warning sign of anything going wrong. They checked it at my appointment, but because they couldn’t open it, they decided to order all the assembly parts, which I had to pay for ahead of time. My next appointment for the repair wasn’t set till January 31, 2024. I never knew how important a functional door would be. Very inconvenient, and dangerous.

Transmission shudder unless I put vehicle in tow haul. Shudders at a out 35 40 miles per hour. Seems to be a recurring problem from 2018 forward. This vehicle has only about 25 000 miles on it. I researched and also spike to a transmission person and they think it may be a computer issue. Supposedly they replace transmission fluid if that doesn't fix they replace took convertor. The problem I have is this is a long time recurring problem that should be identified and fixed by General Motors. A vehicle with such low miles built 2 years after they are aware these transmissions have the what's called dreaded shudder shouldn't still be happening.

February 2023 my son was driving 40 mph (approx) and the power steering became disabled. We took the truck to Landers McLarty Chevrolet. They never mentioned a known recall for this issue on previous year models. The Truck only had 27,000 miles but was out of warranty for the 3 years had expired in August. They gave an initial estimate and repair of $750. Picked up the vehicle and on the way home same thing happens again - lost power steering and then had warning lights on dash after it went out. Took it directly back to dealership. 3 attempts and 5 weeks later including +-$5K cost for 3 different repairs - issue seemed to be resolved. The issue returned today as my son was driving 55 mph (approx) lost power steering in extremely heavy traffic. Knowing what had happened before he was able to navigate to an exit without having an accident. There seems to be a known issue with the power steering on the Colorado. There was a previous recall on earlier year. I had made complaints and spoke to GM multiple times and they said it needed to go through the dealer. GM never mentioned any recall issue with power steering on previous years and offered no direction on possible issues as the truck sat for weeks on end with no resolution.

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The power steering and stabili-trak warning lights were illuminated. The contact veered to the side of the road. The contact stated that he was able to continue driving by using physical strength to steer the vehicle. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle later that day, the power steering was functional and the warning lights had disappeared; however, the failure recurred while driving. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving. The dealer was not notified the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.

- #11570408February 6, 2024FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
The Automatic Emergency Braking System failed me today. The truck is available for inspection. I was driving at about 45 mph, when a car pulled out from a driveway infront of me when it probably should have waited, but there was still time for me to brake safely. I started to apply the brakes and the truck slammed on the brakes, no red lights on the dash flashing, no warning beep. I pulled my foot off the brake because I wasn't sure what was happening but, the truck slammed the brakes to a full STOP.. instant stop! If there had been a car behind me, I would most certainly have been rear ended. The seat belt locked up, my body was thrashed forward twice because of the quick slow down and the stop. I'm sore, scared and not sure what to do. This isn't something that can be recreated without putting someone else in danger. This is not a safety feature, it's an accident waiting to happen!

The check engine light came on because the coolant fan runs for a while after vehicle is shut off. This ended up being due to a thermostat failure. I did have this repaired in Novemver 2023 but what is interesting is that one of my sisters, who also owns a Chevy Captiva had this same thing repaired earlier in 2023 and now my other sister who owns a Chevy Equinox has this same issue now, 2/5/24, and will look into having it repaired. Is this just a coincidence or is this a defective problem that the manufacturers should address?

Vehicle panic braked for absolutely no reason at all. I was rounding an ascending curve, there were no vehicles within sight in front of me. Fortunately there were none directly behind me either.

While I was driving on the highway all the sudden an error came up with Stabilitrac and Power Steering. The steering wheel became insanely stiff and hard to turn. I pulled over and powered off the car, turned it back on and the issue was gone. Intermittantly this has been on-going for awhile where the issue will not occur for a few days or weeks and then randomly pop up whenever it wants. Could be when you start the vehicle it will immeditely identify the issue but it other cases while driving which is the most serious issue I have with this. There is no controlling when or how it happens, its just random.

I lost power steering! I was going up a hill with lots of turns, no place to pull over and the steering was worse than anything I have experienced in power steering loss! But my destination was not far away and I could barely turn into the parking lot! I shut off the truck and restarted and the steering came back. I had my truck in for repair for an unrelated problem but had mentioned what happened. While the technician was working on the unrelated problem, the truck lost steering for him! At a standstill he could not turn the wheel ( a very muscular guy). I hate to think what could have happened if my wife who doesn’t have the strength, would be driving if this happened! GM HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH THE 2015 model but claims it’s not on the 2026 model. ITIS TIME TO HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE BEFORE DEATH OCCURS IF IT HASNT ALREADY! The garage has done the things that GM calls for on this, but all that didn’t do anything! THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE STEERING RACK AND PINION, BUT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY IS GOING TO COVER IT! THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SHOULD NOT BE WHO HAS TO PAY FOR IT GM SHOULD!
