- #11588301May 12, 2024FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Fuel leak in line. There is a pin hole in the line spewing fuel under pressure when running. The fuel flows down the side of the tank as I reported in Complaint Number 11587383 on May 7th, 2024. Now I have removed the bed to discover said leak. Adding picture of the leak spewing fuel from line, by "P E" lettering on the line This is a major concern as any flame near the vehicle would cause it to go up in flames. The manufacturer should correct this problem. I see no reason why this hard plastic pipe developed a hole. It is product defect.

The brake pedal suddenly became very stiff with no warning while driving at highway speeds. Braking was very difficult and required me to swerve into another lane to not impact a car and run a red light. I managed to stop afterwards. This was caused by the cam driven vacuum pump failing. No warning of any kind was given.

Power steering assist is occasionally lost and makes vehicles hard to manuver. If the car is turned off and restarted the problem is momentarily fixed but happens again at random.

* Smell gas and discover leaking down driver side of fuel tank after parking, so something on top. Maybe fuel pump or ?. It is available for inspection. *Fuel puddle under vehicle in parking lot. *Have not contacted dealer, just noticed and found lots of others with same issue online with the Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon. *I am the only one who has inspected to date. *No warning of any kinds, except stepping out of truck and heavy GAS smell, and seeing a shine of color in the rain water going to parking lot drain.

Randomly over the past 2 years, the power steering fails while I’m driving the vehicle. This has happened at start up on occasion, in town, and at highway speeds. Power steering fails and I get a stabilitrak warning message. Turning the engine off and then back on again generally clears the issue, though it has persisted at times where I have to restart the car 5-6 times over the course of 10 minutes to regain the ability to steer the vehicle. It is the same issue as the 2015 model year had a recall issued for, confirmed by the dealership. Why is there no recall for 2016 when it’s the same problem, requiring the same fix, on the same model?

Loss of power steering assist multiple times now (about 20 times overall). Power steering is available upon vehicle startup, but soon after it turns off with a message on the dash saying to "drive carefully" and that "stabilitrack" is also disabled. This first started in April 2022 with 114,250 miles on the odometer. Here are the other times: May 2022 with 115,000 miles, December 2023 with 149,725 miles, March 2024 (3 times in one day) at 153,700 miles, several days in April 2024, and now it is occurring every time I drive the vehicle (since April 25, 2024). It usually happens at lower speeds (only occurred once on the freeway), and it only happens so far when the steering wheel is straight (has not turned off during a turn). Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. It is extremely hard to turn the wheel and if someone cut in front of me I would not be able to turn to avoid. I've read online about many others having this issue. The 2015 Colorado was recalled for this issued, but the 2016 hasn't been.

My power steering system failed again while driving. The car became very difficult to control, especially at low speeds, and poised a safety concern for myself and drivers around me. I had it inspected, the service center recreated the issue and confirmed the electrical connections have failed, as outlined in the recall cited below. The year, make, model and issue is the same as the information included in campaign 21V213000, however Chevrolet refuses to include my VIN in the list of recalled vehicles.

- #11586223April 30, 2024ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Got a letter that my vehicle had a recall on adas system. Took it in to get fixed. A week later was driving home from work on a straight away and Trucks brakes slammed from 50 to 15 then let up. The impact was like Someone hitting me from behind. Strained my neck and wrist. Because I was in shock it happened so looked around and there was only one truck 2 lanes on side of road. When the brake released I started driving again. 3 min later It then happened again. I was scared it would happen again so I drove home real slow. We took it back in to get fixed on [XXX] at the chevy service in hemet. Roger used a sensor reader showing brakes locked up twice. They said they checked it and because there was no issues showing. They didn't fix it. Roger said they drove it 10 miles and nothing happened I explained I have driven it 11000 miles and nothing happened until Last week. How can they send me away without fixing a very dangerous issue. As of today [XXX] it can still happen. I was lucky there was no cars behind me that day it would be a different story. Now I have to call GM to try and get them to tell hemet chevy to fix it so no one gets killed or hurt next time it happens. What ever happened to fixing the issue? Date: [XXX] | Location [XXX] Leaving Costco 1 ½ after entering entrance headed to Savannah. I was traveling at approximately 60 miles a hour with heavy traffic alongside me and a tractor trailer behind me when I felt my Truck quickly de-accelerate on its on. Then I saw the “Sudden Warning on Dashboard, “Reduced Acceleration – Drive with Care” then the 2nd Warning on Dashboard, “ Service Traction Control.” I was almost REAR ENDED by the Tractor Trailer. I was never so startled but I keep my nerve….got over to the right lane at slowed speed (It was weird. Speed slowed but felt like I was in high gear….) I droves about a ½ mile …. got off at next exit and pulled over at gas station. I turned car completely off and tried to reset computers, but it would not. I decided to drive under 35 miles a hour on side streets to Dan Vaden dealership. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
