I had found a leak coming from my 2021 Acura RDX early November. I took it into the dealership December 1st to get it diagnosed and they stated that the transmission and transfer case needs to get replaced. du The problem has been confirmed by the Bloomington Acura dealership on December 1st 2025. After doing research online it looks like this has happened to multiple people with different Acura Models, including newer models of RDX, TLX and MDX. No warning lamps, messages or failures appeared. Just oil leaking beneath the vehicle. It looks like Acura is aware of the issue. The metal shavings from the splines between the transmission and transfer case is destroying the seal. Causing the oil leak hence a new transmission and transfer case.

My car was parked in my driveway. After starting it up and closing my driver’s side door, the entire rear windshield spontaneously shattered without warning or any external manipulation/force. There was no way of knowing of whether or not this would happen. I fear that if I had my dogs in the car (or a child) someone could have been seriously hurt. Shards of glass went everywhere - in the trunk, all over the cargo area, and all over my driveway. I am now stuck without a car while I try to get this repair figured out. Acura/Honda needs to place a recall on this ASAP after seeing how common of an issue it is for many RDX (and other models) owners.

The transfer case began leaking between the transmission and transfer case. Upon taking it to a mechanic I’ve been told the entire transfer case needs replacement because it has prematurely failed. The repair cost is $5533.00. Through research I’ve seen there are many failing transfer cases on acuras with the SH all wheel drive systems. I believe Acura has a design flaw in the system and should be responsible for the repair.

- #11694373October 19, 2025STEERING, SERVICE BRAKES, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
The problem I am reporting I found reported on the internet. My dashboard lite up with power steering and brake warning lights and told me to contact the dealer. Power steering was lost and braking power diminished. Pulled over and restarted the car several times and steering and braking came back but the warning lights still on. After sitting for an hour while we ate the car started with no warnings and brakes and steering functioning. From what I saw on the internet the problem stems from when the LKAS system is turned on. I found on your site my VIN has the issue I described above. Why hasn't Acura contacted me about the problem ? Seems irresponsible.

exiting interstate 270 onto highway 40/64 when the dashboard lit. up and there was no power steering. Tuning the steering wheel very difficult. Luckily no accident occurred however in a different situation or location the results would have been disastrous. Wife was able to exit the interstate and get to a parking lot.

The windshield is distorted and when looking through it is like looking through a convex piece of glass. I went onto the Acura forum and there are numerous complaints. My daughter won't drive the car because its dangerous she said. Its like looking through a fish bowl. all forum complaints were similar to mine. driving for any amount of time is difficult.

As I was driving down the highway, I heard a loud noise that sounded like an explosion of some sort I was going about 65 miles an hour on the expressway [XXX] and [XXX], when I realized that my sunroof had to have shattered. I pulled off the highway and confirmed this. Luckily, my headliner was closed and all the glass that shattered was inside of that. The weather was sunny, I was not under an overpass or something fell on the glass nor did anything fly up and hit the glass. It just shattered for no reason. I immediately contacted the Acura dealership in Jacksonville, which was my destination and was informed in a couple days that not only was that not a warranty item but also the sunroof was on backorder with no ETA of its delivery The car is drivable obviously, but not if it rain as it would rain in my car and destroy my headliner. I went back to my home in Hendersonville, NC was able to find a sunroof repair company that had my sunroof model in stock and it was replaced. However, when I contacted the dealership in Hendersonville, they told me the same thing that they had no idea when the sunroof would be in so it was left to me to resolve the situation. I had filed a report with Acura asking them to replace and pay for a new sunroof. I have made a complaint and I have a claim number. I’m waiting for resolution. Complaint Summary I am filing this complaint regarding American Honda Motor Corp’s handling of a warranty claim on my 2021 Acura RDX. Despite being within the 4-year/50,000-mile warranty, I was denied full coverage for a well-documented defect: condensation/moisture in both headlight housings with no external damage. •Dealer (Rick Case Acura, Sunrise FL) confirmed the condition. •Technician Francisco documented internal moisture, no external damage. •Service Manager Wade Bell submitted goodwill request [XXX], which was approved at 70% only. •My out-of-pocket responsibility was ~$1,400. •I requested full coverage from American Honda, consistent with Acura’s warranty obligations and known issues with these headlight assemblies. On a recorded call, American Honda repeatedly stated my request was denied, refused to provide a written denial, and declined to issue a case reference number directly. Only after reviewing an email did I locate the case number ([XXX]). This refusal to document their denial is highly concerning. ________________________________________ Timeline of Events •[XXX]: Moisture first observed after rain; confirmed by dealer technician. •Dealer Request: Goodwill [XXX] approved at 70%. •Repairs Completed: Both headlights replaced; repair order available. •Sep 2025: American Honda denied my appeal verbally on recorded call; refused written denial. ________________________________________ Manufacturer Guidance Ignored Importantly: American Honda’s own dealer service bulletin (2023) regarding 2019–2021 Acura RDX headlamps explicitly instructs dealers to: •“Create an iN case number (via AcuraLink/Dealer iN) when moisture or condensation is observed inside RDX headlamp housings with no external damage present.” •“Submit for goodwill/warranty replacement of the affected headlamp assemblies.” This vehicle falls squarely within that guidance: a 2021 RDX, <4 years old, <50k miles, with moisture documented by the dealer. This incident happened on July 5th 2025. My 2024 leased Acura RDX front passenger seat caught on fire. The car was parked and not driven for two days before this happened. My educated untrained guess and the police officer on the scene guess was that this was an electrical fire. My Acura dealer refuses to repair this and deny that is the issue. Acura told me this never happened before to a 2024 RDX but I told them this problem happened to years past Acura RDX. There was no issues with this car. I had this car serviced at Acura in April 2025 for regular maintenance service. As of today Acura refuses to repair or replace the car or admit fault with the electrical issue. I was told by Acura this was a thermal event and nothing else. I have pictures of this and the car is at Acura service department for any inspection since it is untouched by them. Also as of today’s date Acura has not sent me any correspondence of anything to do with my leased Acura RDX. This is affecting my life and it is very stressing on my family.

August & September 2025 The power steering stopped while driving and without warning, causing the car to be almost impossible to steer. I happened about 3 weeks ago and the dealer replaced the power steering unit after consulting with the Acura techline. Then after the power steering unit was replaced, it happened again, the same problem. Both times the Lane Keeping Assistance was engaged, so it might be related. The first time I was on a curve and it forced the car into the oncoming lane at night. Fortunately, there was no oncoming traffic or a could have a head-on collision. The second time I was on a highway and moving into the Exit lane, so I was able to pull off the road. Both times, when I stopped the car and turned the engine off and back on, the problem went away, but I got a brake warning that did not seem to affect the driving or the brakes. This is a serious safety problem that is very dangerous and must be fixed by Acura immediately. The local dealer seems to know nothing about the problem. Online there are multiple customer complaints being reported of the same problem. While driving at highway speed, all of a sudden I lost all power steering and multiple system failure warning lights appeared on the center dashboard including power steering failure, brake system failure and collision mitigation system failure, among others. With great difficulty I was able to steer the car off the highway and was towed to an Acura dealer. The car was 5 months old with just over 3000 miles at the time and there were no prior issues and no advanced warning when this happened. The dealer (Acura of Berlin in CT) stated they have seen this issues several times. The battery voltage was low (11.98-12.09 volts), although the car was being driven at highway speeds for at least 45 minutes before the incident. They charged and tested the battery, and their diagnostics said the battery was good. They also found a code "DTC U3000-49 EPS CONTROL UNIT INTERNAL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION". The dealer opened an incident with the Acura Tech line, who indicated that if the problem happens again they should replace the steering rack. No repair other than battery charging was performed. This is an unacceptable safety risk waiting for it to happen again. There are many reports of this exact problem online from 2025 Acura RDX owners. We need an immediate recall.

- #11684165August 31, 2025STEERING, SERVICE BRAKES, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
Automatic braking system came on when the vehicle sensed another vehicle. As the breaking system turned on, the steering wheel locked and did not allow for the driver to steer in order to not avoid a collision. This happened in the streets. It is currently under investigation with insurance. The vehicle had applied the emergency breaks system a few days before, in the highway, while the driver already had the foot on the break and the steering wheel had locked, preventing the driver to change lanes. No collision on this day.

While driving my 2025 Acura RDX A-Spec Advance (approx. 5,000 miles) at about 40 mph through a light curve, the vehicle suddenly lost power steering mid-turn. The dash displayed: “Electric Power Steering System Problem. Steering Assist Not Available. Do Not Drive.” This was not just a loss of assist. The wheel felt like it was resisting input and was nearly impossible to turn, locking the car into an off-road path. I narrowly missed a curb and a large tree by inches, only avoiding collision by forcing the wheel with maximum effort while applying heavy brakes. If this had occurred at higher speed or on a mountain road, the result could have been catastrophic. Once stopped, five additional warnings appeared: Brake System Problem, Lane Keeping Assist System Problem, Collision Mitigation Braking System Problem, Road Departure Mitigation System Problem, and Low Speed Braking Control Problem. After restarting, most warnings remained, though steering assist and brakes seemed temporarily normal. I cautiously drove to a nearby lot, then to the dealership. At the service center, the errors cleared only after shutting down the engine. Staff first suggested a “loose battery cable.” When I mentioned that other 2025 RDX owners have reported the same issue, I was told not to trust the internet. They kept the vehicle overnight under warranty. Initially no loaner vehicle was available, which forced my wife to leave work for daycare pickup. After she called management directly, a loaner was provided. At the time of this report, no diagnosis has been given. Service staff speculated it could be nothing or it could be a failed steering column, which matches reports from other owners. This sudden steering failure, combined with simultaneous warnings across multiple safety systems, created an immediate risk of serious crash. The incident occurred only two days after routine service at the same dealership.
