My 2014 Acura MDX had the same issue that it is currently being recalled (26V-365) except this happened to the front control arms. In August of 2024 I had to replace both the front lower control arms because the bushings were splitting. Had they split while driving I would've lost control of the car and crashed which is the concern with the current recall for the rear control arms. It was fortunate that this potentially dangerous crack was found during an unrelated service. I strongly feel that this recall for the MDX should be expanded to cover the front control arms too. This issue of dangerous corrosion is not limited to the rear.

On multiple occasions while my car is stopped at a light or stop sign the idle restart stalls and the car shuts off. I need to give it a few minutes and restart the car. It mainly happens when the auto shut off for idling restarts. I have had it happen more than 10X with my kids in the car. I have done all required work - timing belt & water pump replacement, transmission fluid flush, new times and new suspension. It continues to get worse.

VIN: [XXX]: 2024 Acura MDXComponents: Engine, Electrical System, Powertrain (Auto Idle-Stop)Ref Investigation: NHTSA EA25-004 (Upgraded from PE22-005) Dealer: Acura Carland ([XXX])SAFETY DEFECT SUMMARY:Severe safety hazard involving the Auto Idle-Stop system. The vehicle repeatedly shuts off at stops (intersections, traffic lights) and fails or struggles to restart, leaving it stranded with zero motive power in active traffic and creating immediate collision risk. DEALER FAILURE & PROTOCOL DEVIATION:Under warranty, Acura Carland diagnosed excessive starter electrical draw and replaced the starter motor. This was a superficial fix. Per Honda/Acura technical directives (e.g., TSB 23-009 / NHTSA [XXX] and [XXX]), high starter current draw during idle-stop restart stems from root mechanical drag (valve clearances) and faulty relays. Replacing only the starter ignored the root cause, leading directly to repeat failure. The identical failure recurred. Upon returning to Acura Carland, dealership personnel dismissed my concerns, disregarded published technical notices and federal investigation references, and refused to escalate to Honda Technical Information & Support (TIS) or a Field Technical Specialist.NHTSA EA25-004 NEXUS:Directly matches active investigation EA25-004 (2.2M Honda/Acura 3.5L vehicles). ODI specifically noted restart failures persist even after software updates and starter motor replacements. My vehicle demonstrates that 2024 MDX models suffer the identical vulnerability and dealers are performing inadequate component swaps. RELIEF REQUESTED:Incorporate VIN [XXX] into EA25-004.Mandate American Honda enforce root-cause dealer repair protocols (valve adjustments, starter relays).Compel a safety recall and full warranty extension covering all Auto Idle-Stop, ignition, valve train, and starter components. The contact owns a 2018 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power but was able to restart. On another occasion, while the contact's husband was driving 10 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power in the middle of the highway. The vehicle was unable to restart, and the contact's husband had to push the vehicle to the side of the road. The vehicle was towed to a service center, where it was diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure by telephone. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Acura MDX. The contact stated that while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle lost motive power, and the steering wheel became difficult to turn. The contact was able to steer the vehicle to the side of the road. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated during the failure. The contact disconnected the negative battery terminal and replaced the battery, and the vehicle restarted an hour later; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to three independent mechanics to be diagnosed, and it was determined that the fuel pump module had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while driving at various speeds. The manufacturer was notified of the failure by phone. The failure mileage was approximately 161,500.

The Auto Idle Stop has activated normally at traffic lights, but on two occasions the engine shut off and then failed to automatically restart when I released the brake. A yellow warning light with an exclamation mark also appeared on the dashboard. The most recent incident happened yesterday, 09/25/2026. There have also been several other times when the engine did restart, but it took noticeably more effort or longer than normal to restart from Auto Idle Stop.

My 2025 Acura MDX completely stalled in active roadway traffic and failed to restart. The failure occurred during a routine stop in traffic, tied to the Auto Idle-Stop / restart sequence: when releasing the brake pedal to accelerate, the engine did not restart, leaving the vehicle completely dead and stranded in the travel lane, creating a severe risk of a rear-end collision. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Acura dealership for repair. The dealership diagnosed the issue and replaced the starter motor under warranty. However, shortly after picking up the vehicle, the exact same failure occurred again in traffic. The vehicle was brought back in, and the 12V battery and charging system were tested and deemed functional, but the vehicle continues to stall and fail to restart. Replacing the starter and testing the battery has not resolved this recurring defect, which leaves the vehicle intermittently immobilized in active traffic lanes.

I was driving and my AWD sistem made a shader sound and right after that the vehicle went on two wheel drive, the clang it made cause the vehicle to swerve in the highway which could have caused an accident. Yes the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The vehicle hasn’t been inspected by the dealer or anyone yet, but the SH-AWD light came on after the sound and the vehicle stayed on front wheel drive only. If this system fail the way it fail on my vehicle at a higher speed it could have caused a fatal accident!

I am reporting a manufacturer's failure to provide a safe remedy for recall 26V365000 (Rear Subframe Corrosion) on my 2015 Acura MDX. Acura Client Relations explicitly stated they cannot confirm if my vehicle is safe or unsafe to drive without an inspection by an authorized Acura dealer. Despite admitting they cannot confirm its safety, they completely refused to provide towing accommodations or a safe local inspection option. I live in [XXX], and the nearest Acura dealership is over 3 hours away. Acura is requiring me to drive a vehicle that they themselves refuse to certify as safe for a 3+ hour highway trip just to receive a legally mandated safety inspection. This is an immediate public safety hazard and a failure to execute a recall remedy I have also filed a formal consumer safety complaint regarding this matter with the North Dakota Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. The contact owns a 2022 Acura MDX. The contact noticed quite a bit of water leaking into the trunk of the vehicle. The contact stated she was able to find a smell of mildew. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where a leak coming from the trunk was confirmed. The dealer diagnosed the failure to be caused by defective drain tubes on both sides of the trunk. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

Engine compartment started emitting smoke and hot air coming out of the vents instead of cold air while driving. Smoke partially obstructed my view. I had to stop on the side and look where smoke is coming from. Smoke is coming from AC compressor inside the engine compartment. Vehicle is less than 5 years old and has 47129 miles on it. Defective AC compressor caused a safety issue.

My 2016 Acura MDX (VIN [XXX]) is covered by Acura safety campaign 4170A8. The campaign covers rear subframe corrosion at the suspension mounting points that can cause the rear wheels to become misaligned or inadequately retained, affecting handling, stability, and braking. On XXX, I brought the vehicle to Sunnyside Acura, [XXX] (Repair Order XXX). The dealer did not perform the recall remedy and noted "cannot complete as rear toe arms are seized." They ordered replacement rear toe arms (52370-TZ5-A91 and 52375-TZ5-A91) that day. More than a month later, the recall repair has still not been completed: I filed a complaint with the dealership. They called me but did not follow through. On XXX, the dealer postponed the repair because no loaner vehicle was available. The repair was rescheduled for XXX. The dealer did not contact me. I contacted Acura Client Relations more than a week ago and have received no response. I am driving a vehicle with a known, open safety defect that Acura has acknowledged but has not repaired. I am asking NHTSA to help ensure Acura and its dealer complete the recall remedy promptly. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Car engine went into idle mode while the Idle Stop was engaged while stopped on an expressway off ramp. Car engine did not turn back on and entire car shut down. It took about 1 minute to re-start the car and engine. Safety was compromised because car shut off in an unsafe location. No accidents or injuries occurred. This happened about a year ago and car battery and starter were replaced by the Acura Dealer November 2025. There were no warning lights or messages prior to this problem appearing. Prior to this event, car had been slow to turn over for about 1 week. I previously submitted a complaint to NHTSA in Fall 2025, case #11694662, when this happened the first time.

Discovered leaking fluid on 9/12/2026. Scheduled service with local Acura dealer on 9/15/2026 and found that the leak is AFT from unserviceable seal between the transmission and transfer case. The recommended repair from dealer is to replace both transmission and transfer case for $15,000. This is a significant issue for a vehicle that had been well maintained.
