1. Obtain Download Link: Contact Audi's Technical Assistance Center (TAC) to receive a download link and instructions for the current MIB3 navigation database.
2. Download Files: Download both navigation database files from the provided link. Avoid using Internet Explorer and save them to a designated 'download folder' on your PC, then move them to the PC's C drive.
3. Prepare USB Drive: Format a 32GB or larger USB drive to the NTFS file system. If the drive is formatted in FAT32, it may not allow the vehicle update via the customer update menu.
4. Extract Files: Use 7-zip (or similar software) to extract the NAV files from the C drive. The extracted content should include 'Data' and 'Meta' folders, along with other potential files.
5. Copy to USB: Copy the extracted 'Data' and 'Meta' folders, and any other associated files, directly to the root directory of the NTFS-formatted USB drive. Ensure they are not placed within a single subfolder.
6. Eject USB: Safely eject the USB drive from your computer.
7. Erase Navigation Database (ODIS): In ODIS, navigate to Guided Fault Finding/Guided Functions. Select and execute the test plan: Self test >> Diagnostic capable system >> 005F - Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794- (MIB2+ or MIB3) >> 005F - Information Electronics 1, functions / 005F - Basic Setting >> Erase navigation databank.
8. Vehicle Sleep Cycle: End the diagnostic session and allow the vehicle to enter a sleep cycle.
9. Perform Software Update (MMI): Insert the prepared USB drive into the vehicle. Access the MMI settings section, then go to MMI Settings >> system maintenance >> software update. The software update option should now be available.
