Attempted to shift out 4-wheel high back into 2-wheel drive. On the dashboard, both 4 wheel high and 4-wheel low were flashing yellow/orange. Put truck into park to clear, nothing continued to flash. Put truck into neutral, nothing continued to flash 4 high and 4 low. Turned the truck engine completely off and started again. Both 4 high and 4 low continued flashy. Put truck into drive, 4 low and 4 high now became a solid orange/yellow, no flashing. Drove truck a mile and a half down the road and lost complete control of the steering. Ended up in ditch with several thousand dollars of damage. Contacted dealer where purchased. Explained what happened to the Manager of Toyota service department. He claims it has happened on other Tundra's, says it happened on his truck. Offered no explanation or fix to the problem.

- #11704036December 9, 2025ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, TIRES, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:ADAS:DRIVER MONITORING:CAMERA/SENSOR
The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated that the rearview camera displayed a frozen image or a black screen while the vehicle was in reverse(R). The contact stated that the failure obstructed the driver's visibility, which prevented the driver from safely operating the vehicle. In addition, the infotainment screen failed to function as intended. While the contact was using the hands-free phone, the call occasionally disconnected. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the hands-free phone disconnecting was due to the cell phone service. The dealer updated the software. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not inspected or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that prior to the failure, the tires on the vehicle showed inner sidewall damage. The tires were not replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer contacted the dealer, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 4,000.

- #11704017December 9, 2025POWER TRAIN, ENGINE, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL
I am experiencing an ongoing issue since the truck was new: the engine hesitates upon acceleration at any speed. When stopped this lag in throttle response makes it difficult to navigate in heavy or unpredictable traffic as the vehicle does not response to the pedal instantly and making intentional sudden speed changes is all but impossible to do safely. Depressing the pedal heavy to try and hasten the response makes the truck surge into hard and fast acceleration, worsening the issue. I have discussed this with the dealer and they said this is “normal” for this truck, and I have heard the same from numerous other 3rd generation Tundra owners. This is a safety issue because I don’t have adequate control of the vehicle’s dynamics as the computer is overriding my control of the acceleration, presumably to improve fuel economy. Ultimately this seems to be an intentional design decision by Toyota and puts me and my passengers at risk.

The vehicle does not predictably respond to throttle inputs (if it responds at all), when you come off the brake pedal it will begin rolling at "idle" speed as normal but when you begin to increase throttle input NOTHING will happen for several very important seconds as you roll into an intersection or need the vehicle to accelerate to maneuver. This had happened multiple times before scheduling service appointments. The day BEFORE my appointment while trying to make a right hand turn from EB 13st St in Lemont IL to SB Bell Rd, i had stopped for the red light, verified clearance to make the turn, and began my maneuver. Once I came off the brake pedal the vehicle began to roll into the intersection but as I began to turn the vehicle and try to accelerate though the turn it did not respond WHATSOEVER. I desperately tried to roll my vehicle into the ditch to make space the incoming vehicles to minimize danger, but had no power to do so and was violently T-boned. The vehicle was brought to the dealer for their analysis, the service manager initially claimed "I know exactly what it is" and continued to ask questions that prompted previous knowledge of this issue including what speeds and conditions it will occur at.. two weeks later the vehicle is "ready" and the manager claims the "eprom" had 2 pages of codes in it and that "got rid of the hesitation" I take him for a test drive with me and was able to recreate the issue a few times at which point he said "i understand your frustration with the truck but its a GOOD TRUCK" I drove the truck a few days and continued to experience dangerous and unpredictable delays in throttle response, one of which almost caused me to be rear-ended by a semi while merging from IL-rt83 onto I-55 nb The vehicle has been left behind on a family road trip as it is not safe enough for my family. In hind sight I wish I had the opportunity to submit it to NHTSA for examination after the crash rather than than Toyota. PLEASE DO SOMeTHING

On 11/28/2025 I was driving to work and all the warning lights on my 2024 Toyota lit up and the engine shut completely off. I had the vehicle towed to Performance Toyota Dealership in Bountiful, UT. I learned that there is a recall for the engine on these vehicles. The vehicle is still under factory warranty and had 34k miles on it. After a week of my truck sitting at the dealership they still are waiting on a decision from “Corporate” on whether they want to replace the engine under the factory warranty or they want to replace the engine under the recall which they are saying “no remedy” has been put out on the 2024 Tundra recall yet. The outcome of either remedy is a new engine. I also asked about just trading the truck in for a newer model which when I asked they took the Blue Book trade in value down $10k since it had a recall on it. This is no fault of my own and this is terrible customer service from Toyota. I also received a loaner car from them which I cannot drive because I don’t meet the age requirement so my dad has to drive the loaner vehicle which he is very unhappy about since I’m having to borrow his new vehicle to drive back and forth to work and putting miles on his new car. This whole process is very frustrating and unfair to not have a decision made on the engine replacement or being treated fairly on a trade in. Thankfully there was no accident with injuries.

Several situations where the throttle hesitates when entering traffic or trying to come to interstate speeds on merge ramps. 1-2 sec delay has caused potential close calls while merging, when plenty of room existed to merge at speed.

Stopped at a stop sign at an intersection. Intersection is 4-way, with only a 2-way stop. After ensuring cross-traffic was clear, initiated a left turn from being stopped at the stop sign. Released the brake pedal and began to accelerate.Truck only accelerated to 5mph, and then began to roll/drift into the intersection with no power. No response from gas pedal. Drifted into intersection and was nearly struck by an oncoming vehicle. Accelerator finally responded, lagged once more when attempting to accelerate quickly to get out of the intersection, and then began responding appropriately. I could have been T-boned by another motorist while drifting without acceleration ability through an intersection. My foot was firmly on the gas pedal, with no response. This was only one of two occurrences of this, the truck has not been serviced by the dealer for this issue. No warning lights were displayed at the time, nor did any illuminate.

When making a left turn or pulling off from stop light the truck almost stalls out. Very dangerous when traffic is coming. Need a fix ASAP. Could cost people their lives.

This sunroof has a rattle that will not stop. I have taken it to a Toyota Dealer twice, and was told this was a known issue and will do what they can to help with the rattle. The sunroof shakes and rattles like glass hitting the tracks, or glass hitting metal when driving down the road. I am afraid one bump will shatter the glass. Will be returning to the dealership for a third time today to see if it can be fixed.

I was driving on the highway at 55 mph when my engine suddenly began making a loud knocking noise and lost power. I immediately pulled over, but as I was doing so, the vehicle lost all power and the engine light came on. This was a dangerous situation because I was in the middle of traffic and almost got rear-ended as I couldn’t keep up with the traffic speed. Let alone the warning light didn’t come on until I lost all power to the engine. This is a 2023 Hybrid Limited with under 15,000 miles! I could not believe it as I just got rid of my 2022 Tundra Limited with engine issues and purposely got a hybrid to avoid engine problems. Toyota, what on earth are you doing?!

While moving through an intersection the vehicle will occasionally loose power and the engine returns to idle. I will press on the gas for 3-4 seconds before the engine throttle reacts and the vehicle starts to accelerate. This has happened many times. The vehicle will turn or brake but it will not accelerate.

On Aug 1st I started noticing a slight shake in the vehicle on the way to work in the morning. I can best describe this shake or shutter like an imbalanced tire or a misfire. On the way home I noticed that the shutter was only present around 1,100-1,300RPMs while under gentle acceleration. About 6 miles from home I noticed the engine would bog down from time to time and shortly after I could hear a slight metallic sound. It was not until I got into town where I was set a slower road speed that I could clearly hear that the metallic sound was a rod knock. I have the hybrid model of the new Tundras, and on that last bit of stretch getting home in town the truck never threw an error or even understood that it was having an engine failure. Towards the end it would kick the engine on and off trying to flip flop between hybrid/EV mode and ICE mode. And some of those instances I think the engine was stalling out. Mine engine never seized up fully, but if it had I question whether or not the ECU would have understood this to disengage the engine from the drivetrain to propel itself only on the MG. As of today (12/5/25) my truck is still down at the shop because of this engine failure. Toyota originally covered a short block replacement under warranty. After the dealership assembled that new engine they are having nothing but one problem after another. After about a month to a month and a half of fighting the new engine Toyota's FTS got involved, were they ordered the new engine to be disassembled for investigation. They found that the new engine had completely destroyed itself, and they claim the cause was from the technician not applying assembly lube on the camshafts. After that Toyota blamed the technician at the dealership and refused to help fix my truck (which is well within the drivetrain warranty). I now have an open arbortation case with the NCDS for this.

THROTTLE LAG/LURCHING: When pressing the gas pedal at a full stop or pulling into traffic on the expressway the truck hesitates. it doesn't immediately go. This happens often...Transmission should be recalled. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC ON THE EXPRESSWAY
