Back up camera is not shielded correctly and rain accumulates on the camera everytime that it rains. it does not matter if it is a light rain ir a heavy rain. This causes the image to be very blurry and creates a hazard.

On 11/14/2024 the windshield wipers started malfunctioning on my leased Toyota Tacoma. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. On 11/22/2024 I took the vehicle to Premier Toyota for service. I was told they do not have the parts, that was 9 weeks ago. This vehicle is unsafe with malfunctioning wipers.

The morning my transmission failed... I started the truck and put it in R, at which point the entire truck shuddered for several seconds. At this point many, many warning messages appeared on the instrument cluster screen as well as the infotainment screen - and the truck would not move in Reverse. After moving the shifter into P and back to R, the truck backed out of the driveway. When the truck was shifted to D - nothing happened. The truck was shifted back to R and then back to D at which point the truck moved forward but would not shift out of 1st gear. Placed truck back in P and then back to D two more times and truck would move forward but not shift out of 1st gear. Turned truck off and on approximately 3 times and it began to shift gears when driving. I drove the truck to the closest Toyota dealership where the warning codes were checked, and I was told that my transmission was bad and needed to be replaced. I was told that it would need a new Torque Converter assy, new Automatic Transmission assy, and a new Hybrid Module assy. Total cost for parts would be $27,504.29.... Covered by warranty. My truck was purchased brand new in Virginia, MN on [XXX], and the failure occurred on [XXX] with less than 800 miles on the vehicle. The vehicle has a vibration at speeds in excess of 40mph. The dealer has confirmed that the wheels are balanced and that the truck is in alignment. They have duplicated the issue on my truck and have driven an identical model and experienced the same inherent vibration. There are also mentions of this vibration in Tacoma forums online specific to the TRD Off-road variant

Stopping at a stop light, after coming to a complete stop, vehicle will want to slowly creep forward and you need to press a little harder on the brake pedal. If you don't pay attention, you will creep into the vehicle in front of you. I am in the transmission TSB range.

I started up my Toyota Tacoma early morning on [XXX] and noticed the engine light came on after it warmed up in the cold climate of Northern Arizona. As such, this occurred at 36,303 miles. The fault code stated the following: “A malfunction in the electronic control of the engine, throttle, or automatic transmission has been detected. Contact your Toyota dealer in order to have your vehicle inspected.” Later in the day, I scheduled an appointment for December 14, 2024 at Anderson Toyota. I explained the situation and was disappointed to get an engine light so early, as it didn’t make any sense. Afterwards, at 8:47 PM from getting off work, I intuitively decided to check the engine compartment as the lady with the dealership claimed if rats chewed up the wires it wouldn’t be covered under warranty. Lo and behold, I didn’t find any wires chewed up, but I did find the engine oil filler cap wholly missing! I documented this incident with my camera phone in utter disgust, my initial assessment is Toyota failed to reinstall the oil filler cap. I called the next day, and left a voicemail expressing my disgust and disappointment in their service. Upon arrival, Service Advisor Jennifer advised it is a known issue with the OEM oil filler caps coming off. The dealership claims it wasn’t their tech, but a faulty part. Again, (1) this puts me in danger on the road with open contamination occurring to the point, where my engine light is now activated and (2) Toyota should issue a lifetime replacement warranty for any engine issues for the 22’ model Tacomas as the damage has occurred, regardless of what the dealership claims. My 2024 Tacoma SR5 was stuttering and felt like the wheels are locking up when I accelerate I have to go very slow because when going anything over 30 MPH feels very unsafe and is hard to control and handle it shut off a lot of my systems like crash detection and 2-3 other ones are cut off on my dash it threw a check engine light so going to take it in to Toyota tomorrow to get it looked at I don’t know if I even want this truck anymore.

I am reporting a safety concern related to my Toyota vehicle involving the all-weather floor mat on the driver’s side. I have noticed that the mat consistently becomes caught on top of the clutch pedal when I press the pedal all the way down. This causes the mat to obstruct the pedal’s full range of motion, making it difficult to fully disengage the clutch. As a result, I have to be extremely cautious and pull over to manually adjust the mat whenever this happens, as it poses a potential safety hazard while driving. I have recorded a video showing this issue occurring, but the file size is too large to submit through the NHTSA portal. As an alternative, I have taken a screenshot from the video that clearly shows the mat interfering with the clutch pedal. I am concerned that this issue could lead to an unsafe driving situation, especially in emergency or high-stress driving conditions. I am requesting that this issue be investigated, as it may affect other vehicles with similar all-weather floor mats.

I bought the truck at 6 pm on [XXX] in Pennsylvania and drove straight home in Brooklyn, when trying to find a parking spot the truck started to act weird(10pm after 190 miles). The rpm was going really high with no power to the wheels and abruptly it seems to find gear and jumped off really fast a couple of times. I was driving in a residential area at low speed and was able to pull over to the curb. I could have hit a pedestrian, another car or lost control pretty badly if I was in a highway. After the initial incident all the lights came off (engine malfunction, brakes malfunction, collision system malfunction and others). The truck was towed and after a long wait, today the 5th of December, it was diagnosed as a transmission problem, Toyota is going order a new transmission and the broken one will be sent to Toyota for further inspection. My new 2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro with 2440 miles experienced a transmission failure as I was driving up a mountain highway. I lost most propulsion of the vehicle with no advanced notice. I barely was able to make it to a portion of the road with a shoulder. There was heavy traffic due to the thanksgiving holiday traffic. The error on the Vehicle indicated Hybrid System Failure. In the vehicle information I was able to access additional errors, “A malfunctions in the intelligent Clearance Sonar System has been detected”, and “A malfunction in the Drive Start Control System has been detected”. The vehicle was towed to a local Toyota dealer and the have diagnose that the transmission and a computer need to be replaced. The problem arose suddenly without warning and with out any prior issues.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle inadvertently drifted to the left and jerked while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the instrument panel was not functioning properly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the long block and torque converter had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 188,000.

The contact owns a 2022 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving through an intersection at approximately 25 MPH; another vehicle who ran the red light T-boned the contact's vehicle on the passenger side. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. The contact sustained pain in her back and was treated by her doctor for a torn disk. A police report was filed. The vehicle was initially towed to an independent body shop and was later towed to the dealer where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and was given a case number. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

Within 6 months the new vehicle showed significant corrosion on 80% of the frame welds where the frame is connected to other structural parts, suspension and steering. This was taken to Toyota as a warranty claim. Ultimately a Washington State lemon law arbitration awarded replacement of the vehicle (Wash State AG File# 240122 5 September 2024)
