5-year-old child buckled in back seat with his booster. Vehicle put in park and went to try and get out of the vehicle. Went to unbuckle and it wasn't working. Trying to adjust and wiggle it it got extremely tight on child and after several attempts to unlock it wouldn't. The seatbelt needed to be cut. It turned into a emergency fast with a child hurt. Several people tried to get him out and unbuckle the seat and it wouldn't. The child's got red markings over his waist now and could have made things worse if not cut. The seat belt in the back seats need to be checked for this issue. The police were called to cut the seatbelt. Bringing the vehicle to the dealership to replace parts.

Two issues involving fuses at approximately 135,000 miles. The fuse for my backup camera has not worked since I bought the car at 130,000 miles. There is no light for this. I have tried any at home remedies to no avail. This could pose to be an issue as I cannot see if a small child is behind my car. A couple of months later (around 135,000 miles) the fuse for my tire pressure sensor stopped working as well. There is a light for the tire pressure system that actually interferes with the light for if the tire is low. I now have to go by sight because the light is always on due to the sensor malfunction. My tire was at 22 psi, but I did not know because the tire light flashed for the sensor rather than indicating it was low. This is only an issue because the sensor light is the same light as the pressure. No professional has checked either issue to my knowledge.

The 2025 Toyota Camry SE Hybrid suffered a catastrophic electronic brake-by-wire and computer network failure during a low-speed stop. The brake pedal went completely mushy, and the vehicle registered zero deceleration for a full second, causing a collision. Immediately after impact, the dashboard displayed systemic failures across multiple ADAS and safety networks, specifically throwing explicit alerts for 'Airbag Malfunction,' 'Headlight Malfunction,' and 'System Malfunction.' The vehicle is currently held at Toyota Carlsbad under Corporate Case 261007001900. Local dealer mechanics have already officially inspected the footwell and ruled out any driver floor mat obstruction. A minor child was injured and evaluated at the Tri-City Medical Center Emergency Room."

The driver's seat causes severe pain and numbness during normal driving, making it difficult to maintain a safe and consistent driving position. I experience significant pain, and my leg can become completely numb while driving. There is also a hard piece of plastic or metal that can be felt through the bottom of the seat. When it presses against me, it causes pain, numbness, and a significant distraction while driving. The lumbar support also feels extremely hard and positioned too high. The seat padding also appears to shift or move underneath me when I accelerate or brake, further changing my seating position. I have had to purchase and use pillows to sit on and place behind my back just to make the seat tolerable enough to drive. While they provide some relief from my leg going numb, they raise my body too high and move me too far forward, significantly changing my normal driving position and causing my head to almost touch the top inside of the car but without the added padding, the resulting pain and numbness can become severe enough that I am concerned about my ability to operate the pedals and safely control the vehicle. I initially thought the seat simply needed time to break in. However, I have now owned the vehicle for almost a year, and the problem has not improved. The dealership inspected the vehicle but stated that they could not find anything wrong with the seat. The exact component or cause of the problem is UNKNOWN. The vehicle and seat are available for further inspection upon request. There have been no warning lights or messages associated with this issue. I previously owned a 2025 Camry LE and experienced none of these problems. That vehicle had noticeably better padding, cushioning, lumbar support and overall seat comfort. This is not simply a comfort issue. The severe pain, numbness, seat movement, and distraction interfere with my ability to maintain a proper driving position and could affect my ability to safely operate the vehicle.

I brought this car in recently for a Toyota recall back in late September of this year. After getting the car back, I noticed that the left front bumper cover was separted from the car near the headlight. On 10/2, I returned the car to the dealership to have this looked at and they said it was repaired. After getting home, the bumper cover had separated again. I went back to the dealership on 10/6 and, after sitting for two hours, the repair consultant came back to say they couldn't fix it and I would need to go to the collison center for repair. The manager is always busy when I call and the admin person arranged a time for me to bring car in to have it assessed. I filed a complaint with Toyota and will hear back from them this Thursday. I'm afraid that when they fixed the recall they may have loosened the bumper cover as I've done nothing to make to loose from my end. I'm also leery that Toyota is going to claim it's my fault and charge me to have it fixed.

The dealership wanted to charge me $300 to replace the handle for a fourth time, but they refuse to look at the internal sticking latch defect mentioned in Toyota TSB T-T2-0323-19. I could not safely drive a car with a broken door while waiting for a approval process, so I am having a local mechanic fix it. / want to submit my receipt to this case file for a corporate reimbursement check.

I do not know if this is safety or not but my car has repeatedly asked to have a PIN entered while driving. This was so annoying I canceled the free Drive Connect service early. However I am now receiving ads for "Experience Drive Connect" while driving. On occasion I have the infotainment lock up with a white screen when attempting to clear the ad. This required me to stop and reboot (restart) the car. I have since found out that I can reboot the infotainment by holding the "power button" for a time and waiting for a restart. This inhibits viewing of all items on the infotainment Maps, music controls, phone controls, ect. The "power button" is not a power button but a reboot button as it will never power off the infotainment system. This is an ongoing issue. I canceled the free service in May of this year with the assistance of Toyota phone tech support. This stopped the request to log in with my 6 digit pin while driving but replaced it with a more frequent ad. The "head unit" has been replaced July 17, 2025, but did not solve the issue. Dealer is requesting to replace it again.

- #11768868October 4, 2026FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
I am filing a formal complaint regarding a severe safety recall compliance violation and predatory conditional repair tactic committed by an authorized Toyota dealership. My vehicle exhibited severe engine sputtering and stalling symptoms. This vehicle had an active, federally mandated safety recall for a defective low-pressure Denso fuel pump known to cause engine stalling. Upon presenting the vehicle for the safety recall, the dealership's service advisor explicitly and verbally stated that they would not touch, service, or perform the open fuel pump safety recall until I first authorized and paid for an out-of-pocket throttle body replacement. The vehicle was throwing diagnostic trouble codes P2117, P2190, and P2197. While P2117 relates to throttle performance, codes P2190 and P2197 indicate severe fuel delivery, fuel starvation, and air-fuel ratio calculation failures. Low fuel pressure from the recalled, defective fuel pump causes the engine to sputter and die, which forces the electronic throttle body to scramble to catch the dropping RPMs—subsequently tripping the secondary P2117 code. The dealership used this secondary symptom code to withhold a federal safety recall and force a highly inflated $1,351.00 customer-pay repair under duress. To get my vehicle repaired and safe for the road, I was forced to pay for the throttle body. Both the $1,351 throttle body repair and the free fuel pump safety recall were completed on the exact same visit on the exact same day, creating an undeniable paper trail of a forced conditional repair. Holding a critical safety recall hostage behind a costly commercial repair violates federal recall regulations under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. I am demanding a full corporate goodwill reimbursement of $1,351.00 from Toyota Motor North America and a formal compliance investigation into this dealership's service department practices.

- #11768872October 4, 2026EXTERIOR LIGHTING
I am reporting a serious nighttime visibility and roadway-safety concern involving excessive glare from modern LED headlights while driving my 2003 Toyota Camry. When vehicles equipped with extremely bright LED headlights approach from the opposite direction or follow behind me, the glare can temporarily impair my vision and make it difficult to see the roadway, lane markings, pedestrians, hazards, and other vehicles. The effect is especially severe when the headlights are very high intensity, have a high color temperature, or are mounted on taller vehicles such as SUVs and trucks. This is not simply a complaint about brightness or personal preference. The glare creates periods of significantly reduced visibility while I am actively operating the vehicle. At nighttime driving speeds, even a brief loss of clear forward vision presents a meaningful safety risk.My 2003 Toyota Camry was designed in an era when vehicle lighting was substantially different from today's increasingly common high-output LED systems. I am concerned that current federal lighting standards and testing procedures do not adequately account for the real-world glare experienced by drivers of older, lower vehicles. I ask NHTSA to investigate whether current headlamp standards adequately control glare from modern LED lighting, including headlamp intensity, color temperature, aiming, mounting height, and the effects on drivers of lower/older vehicles. I also ask whether existing testing accurately reflects real-world nighttime conditions. The purpose of this complaint is to bring attention to a growing safety issue: lighting intended to improve one driver's visibility can, when excessively glaring to others, reduce another driver's ability to see the road safely.

I own a 2024 Toyota Camry LE. The vehicle has an intermittent and unpredictable hesitation when I press the accelerator. At times, the vehicle does not respond normally to accelerator input and hesitates before providing power. After the hesitation, the vehicle can suddenly surge forward. This creates a significant safety concern because predictable acceleration is necessary when merging into traffic, entering an intersection, making a turn, or accelerating from a stop. I have experienced situations where I could not rely on the vehicle to accelerate when needed, followed by an unexpected surge in acceleration. The problem appears to involve the vehicle's powertrain/transmission and/or its electronic control system, although I cannot identify the specific cause. I am reporting this as a safety defect because the unpredictable loss of acceleration followed by sudden acceleration could increase the risk of a collision. The vehicle is available for inspection. I request that NHTSA investigate whether this condition represents a safety-related defect affecting the 2024 Toyota Camry.

While driving, the front seatback exhibits an unstable internal structure. Whenever I shift my body weight or lean into the seat during normal driving maneuvers (such as turning, accelerating, or braking), the seatback pops and pokes my upper and lower back. It feels as though the internal frame, springs, or structural components are slipping, adjusting, or failing to remain securely locked in place. This is very distracting while driving. The location of the popping and internal shifting moves around.

2018 Toyota Camry approx 126,000 miles. Transmission had always been rough-- previously jerking and was told by dealer technician that shocks needed to be replaced soon. While out of state and traveling in remote area, the car gave out. Was advised by out of state Toyota dealership technician that the transmission had blown and the inside of the mechanism had imploded and the car could not be moved at all. According to review of other consumer complaints Toyota was aware of the mechanical defect with transmission and related defective software but failed to disclose to the consumer. Toyota has failed to issue a recall.

The dashboard on my 2010 Toyota Camry has deteriorated and developed an extremely shiny, sticky, wet-looking surface. During normal daytime driving, sunlight reflects off the deteriorated dashboard and onto the windshield, creating significant glare that interferes with the driver's view of the roadway. The condition occurs routinely when driving in sunlight and is a visibility and safety concern, not merely a cosmetic issue. Toyota previously established a Customer Support Program for sticky/melting dashboards on affected vehicles. The vehicle was purchased new by my father and remained in our family, but he was unaware of the program while coverage was available. The vehicle is now being passed to my son. On September 30, 2026, I contacted Toyota regarding the condition. Toyota opened a customer case but advised that the prior coverage period had expired and declined assistance. My concern is that the deterioration of the dashboard creates substantial windshield reflection that can impair driver visibility. I am requesting that NHTSA document and evaluate this condition as a potential motor-vehicle safety defect.
