The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while driving at 7 MPH, the rear windshield glass shattered. Neither the dealer nor an independent mechanic was contacted. Additionally, after shifted to drive from reverse the back over prevention camera screen failed to immediately turn off. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

WHILE COMING FROM THE GROCERY STORE TO MY APARTMENT I HEARD A LOUD POP AND I SAW THRU MY MIRROR THAT MY REAR WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. I. STOP ON THE NEXT BLOCK AND PARK TO SEE IF SOMEONE OR SOMETHING HIT MY WINDOW BUT NOTHING... I NOTICED ON THE SIDE OF THE SORROUNDI WINDOW THE WINDOW WAS SEPARATED FROM THE WINDOW FRAME... I DID SOME RESEARCHED AND FOUND OUT IT HAS HAPPEN TO OTHER NISSAN OWNERS .... I WILL BE CONTACTING MY NISSAN DEALER TO SEE IF THEY WILL REPAIR IT FOR FREE... I CAN'T DRIVE IT BECAUSE THE WINDOW CAN FALL TO THE STREET... I CAN'T PUT NO PLASTIC AROUND IT BECAUSE ITS BEEN RAINING ALL THIS WEEKND.... THIS HAPPEN ON FRIDAY THE 16, 2026 AROUND 430PM

I was driving to work around 3:15 am on 1/20/26 when my back windshield exploded! There was no warning. I did have my defrost on. I thought someone had shot or thrown something at my car. I called the service department at my dealership and even spoke the Service Manager. He recommended that I speak with consumer affairs, which I did. I was told to file and insurance claim. Not only that, my window cannot be replaced with an identical window. Mine was tinted from the factory and they do not sell that window. I'll have to pay even more to have my window tinted to match the rest of the car. I did Google this subject and I see that many Nissan vehicle owners have had the same thing happen to their cars. Also I see where a class action lawsuit has been opened. I want Nissan to take responsibility. I was driving on a bridge in the dark - the noise it made was LOUD.

On or about 01/13/2025 my windshield cracked spontaneously during normal highway driving. As this is a brand new vehicle I find that Nissan needs to investigate the quality control of their windshield installation for the 2025 Kicks models. I have found many people online via facebook or reddit who have made similar complaints regarding their brand new 2025 Kicks windshield cracking within the last 3 months. As well as reports from Nissan's parts centers and Safelite regarding a delay in replacement windshields for this specific car due to increased demand.There were no warnings or symptoms of the problem prior.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who replaced the ABS and Forward-Facing Camera. The dealer diagnosed that the ADAS needed to be replaced; however, the part was on back order. While awaiting parts for the repair, the battery started to lose power and needed to be jump-started several times. The manufacturer was informed of the issue. The contact owns a 2025 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that she had remotely started the vehicle, preparing to drive her children to school. The contact stated that one child had forgotten a school item inside the home. The contact exited the vehicle with the key fob and had left the vehicle turned on. The contact stated that the parking brake was not engaged. The contact stated that as she returned to the vehicle, she saw that the vehicle was rolling down the slight grade of the driveway by the tail end. The contact estimated the speed at approximately 10 MPH. The contact stated that her children were strapped into the rear passenger seats by the seat belts. The contact stated that the vehicle rolled across the road and into a neighbor's yard and crashed into a tree. The vehicle had damage to the passenger side bumper and the passenger side taillights. The bumper had a large dent, and the passenger side light assembly was shattered. The contact stated that the children were not injured. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer. The dealer had not diagnosed the vehicle and had the vehicle taken to a collision repair center. The vehicle was not repaired due to parts being on back order. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V969000 (Electrical System). The contact had discussed the recall with the dealer and the manufacturer and was advised that her VIN was not part of the recall selection. The failure mileage was approximately 50.

The rear body vent seal failed, allowing water to enter the vehicle interior. This component is available for inspection. I noticed a sloshing water sound, and over time there was excess interior moisture, including repeated interior window frosting that required scraping for visibility. A Nissan dealership later confirmed water intrusion and interior mold contamination affecting the driver-side floor, rear seating area, and trunk. The presence of mold inside the cabin poses a health risk to occupants, and ongoing water intrusion creates a potential risk to vehicle electrical systems and other components. The issue was confirmed by a Nissan dealership through inspection and diagnosis. The vehicle has been inspected by Nissan service personnel. No police or insurance inspection was related to this issue. There were no warning lamps, messages, or alerts indicating water intrusion prior to discovery. The only symptom was the sloshing water sound, which prompted inspection.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, the contact became aware that the instrument panel was blinking on and off several times and then went dark. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the instrument panel needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on three separate occasions. The vehicle was not repaired; however, the dealer was currently waiting for the part to repair the vehicle. FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, SERVICE BRAKES
While I was driving, my vehicle’s Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) suddenly stopped working. At the same time, the Automatic Emergency Braking / Forward Emergency Braking (AEB/FEB) warning light turned on. While the vehicle was in motion, warning messages appeared on the dashboard, including: “Unavailable: Front Radar Obstruction,” and/or “Forward Driving Aids Temporarily Disabled – Front Sensor Blocked. See Owner’s Manual.” These warnings appeared even though there was no visible obstruction to the front radar sensor. The sudden loss of Intelligent Cruise Control and forward safety features while I was driving reduced my ability to rely on these systems to help maintain a safe following distance. The unexpected warning lights and messages were distracting and created a potential safety risk. This issue occurred during normal driving conditions. I had to take the vehicle in for inspection to determine whether there was a malfunction with the front radar sensor or related safety systems.

FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING
The first time the errors (front collision, traction control/slippery road) happened, I was driving my 2019 Nissan Kicks on a dry night in October (10/23). I was going down a medium sized hill with my breaks slightly engaged, about to run into my apartment complex. There was no one in front of me. Lights lit up with an error that said 'Malfunction: See Owner's Manual.' When I went to back into my parking place, it was like I was trying to dry with my parking break engaged--the car was fighting me for every inch. Turned the car off, left it over night; came back in the morning, no more errors. Drove normally. On 12/10, I was going down that same hill, almost same conditions--shortly after sunset, dry road, no one in front of me. Drive down the hill, breaks slightly engaged, Front Collison and Traction controls light up, malfunction. Park the car, leave it overnight, get ready to take it to work in the morning, seems okay. On 12/11, I make it about 2 miles and I'm in similar conditions--Pre-dawn darkness, dry road, no one in front of me, going down a hill with the breaks slightly engaged. They all light up again, this time with the check engine light. Take it to the dealership, they say it's a P0101 error and I need to replace the Mass Overflow Filter and the battery. If it did the parking break-like issue from the first time it happened again, I'd be afraid that I couldn't get my car parked and out of traffic if I was in a public place.
