I own a 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe – VIN: [XXX] . I previously brought the vehicle in for a recall related to the high-voltage battery. Months later, I received another safety notice instructing me not to charge the vehicle and to park it outdoors away from structures due to fire risk. This indicates the original recall service did not resolve the defect. My vehicle is currently unable to perform its intended function (EV charging/commuting functionality) and may pose a safety hazard when parked. I am requesting NHTSA oversight to ensure FCA/JEEP provides an available remedy and that owners are informed and supported. Subject: Safety Complaint – 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe (VIN: [XXX] ) – Recall 68C High Voltage Battery Fire Risk Dear NHTSA Office of Defects Investigation, I am filing this safety complaint for my leased 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Plug-in Hybrid (VIN: [XXX] ) regarding Safety Recall 68C (NHTSA Campaign Number 25V-741) – High Voltage Battery Defect. The recall notice states that the HV battery may become damaged during normal vehicle operation, leading to internal short circuit, overheating, and potential vehicle fire – even when parked or not charging. This poses a serious life-threatening risk to occupants, family members, and bystanders. Current interim remedy is insufficient: Owners advised to refrain from recharging and park away from structures/other vehicles. Permanent remedy (battery replacement) is still under development as of December 2025. Vehicle is effectively unusable for normal family use (cannot park in garage, constant fire fear). I operate in E-Save mode only (no charging), but risk remains per manufacturer notice. Family details: Wife and two children – safety severely impacted. I request NHTSA to: Escalate investigation into this defect. Pressure Stellantis/FCA US LLC for immediate permanent remedy by way of lease termination. Consider expanding recall scope if needed. Attached letter addressed to co-signee. Thank you for your urgent attention to this life-threatening safety issue. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] Lease through Chrysler Capital INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The contact owns a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at approximately 75 MPH, the vehicle shuddered. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering damper needed to be replaced. Upon researching online, the contact related the failure to an unknown recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised that the vehicle was not under warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.

Two months ago the vehicle decided to not work at all. Couldn’t turn it on couldn’t move it. Had to have it towed where they kept it for 3 weeks and said it was main battery and replaced it. Fast forward to yesterday 12/29 and the engine light came on again. Waiting for dealership to contact when they’ll have loaner vehicle. But this is the second time in 2 months the engine light has come on. We bought the vehicle in September a month later in the shop. Now again going back to the shop. This vehicle has UNDER 30k miles and I’m not a a very happy customer right now.

On Thursday, December 18, 2025, while driving approximately 70 mph on US-30 in Indiana, my vehicle suddenly displayed a warning indicating speed would be limited and that I needed to place the vehicle in Park and restart it. At the time, I was traveling in the left lane with semi-trucks beside and behind me. The abrupt loss of speed and ability to accelerate created an immediately dangerous situation. Luckily, I was able to maneuver across traffic to the right shoulder. After placing the vehicle in Park and attempting a restart, the vehicle did not recover as expected and could not be shifted out of Park. I was stranded on the shoulder of a high-speed highway with heavy truck traffic. I have an open case with Jeep Customer Care and have made numerous calls. I have been routed between Customer Care, the Recall team, and Roadside Assistance. The vehicle currently has multiple open recalls, including those for potential power loss due to software defects, engine contamination with debris that can cause failure, fire risk, or loss of drive power, and fire risks from the hybrid battery system. No representative can confirm whether these recalls are related to my failure, despite the symptoms (sudden speed limitation, failure to restart, and inability to shift out of Park) closely matching descriptions in the power loss and engine failure recalls. On December 18th I was promised a case manager callback within one business day. That did not occur. I called again 12/22 and was routed to Roadside Assistance again, which cannot help me, and then to Recall and I just received a supervisor callback from the Recall department, and he provided no additional resolution. I have repeatedly requested escalation in all of my calls and have been continuously told there is no escalation. Not only is this a serious safety risk, but a complete failure by Stellantis/Chrysler/Jeep to provide any resolutions to a very serious problem.

The dealership refuses to perform the 68c recall for my 4xe wrangler, [XXX] They said they are worried that there will be a glitch with the recall and they will have to hold on to my jeep for 3-4 weeks until a battery replacement is available. They don’t want to do this because there are already 3 cars in the dealership awaiting the same battery replacement. Given the seriousness of the recall (battery fires), this seems like an unsafe response to the recall. They mentioned they’ve been turning multiple cars away with this recall and that they have other recalls for other models to also worry about. Problem Description (very important): My 2018 Jeep Wrangler experiences a severe and violent front-end shaking commonly referred to as “death wobble.” This occurs while driving at highway speeds and makes the vehicle difficult to control until I slow down significantly. The shaking feels dangerous and unpredictable and creates a serious safety risk. I transport my children in this vehicle, and this issue is frightening and unsafe for passengers and other drivers. My dealership states there is no recall, but I am aware of widespread consumer complaints, documented defects, and lawsuits involving death wobble in Jeep Wranglers, including the 2018 model year. I believe this is a known steering/suspension defect and not normal wear and tear. I am reporting this for safety reasons.

- #11707646December 29, 2025VISIBILITY/WIPER
I am reporting a defect with the driver-side sun visor on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The sun visor mounting mechanism is faulty and has broken/detached during normal use. When this occurs, the visor drops down unexpectedly and obstructs the driver’s forward view. This creates a serious safety hazard, as the visor can suddenly block visibility while the vehicle is in motion, increasing the risk of a crash. The failure happened without excessive force or misuse, only routine flipping and positioning of the visor. I am aware that many other owners of 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited vehicles have experienced the same sun visor failure, suggesting a widespread defect in the design or materials used. This appears to be a known and recurring issue affecting multiple vehicles of the same model year. I believe this defect should be investigated as a safety-related issue and considered for a recall, as it directly impacts driver visibility and safe vehicle operation.

The high-voltage battery system on my Jeep Wrangler 4xe malfunctioned and is subject to Recall 25V-741 (68C). The vehicle has been under safety recall for battery fire risk for months, with instructions to park outside and avoid charging due to fire hazard. On December 29, the recall remedy failed and the vehicle was rendered completely undrivable (“bricked”) at the dealership. I was informed that hybrid battery components/repair parts are not available and there is currently no way to return the vehicle to a safe, operable condition. The vehicle cannot be moved or driven and remains stored outside. This defect creates a direct safety risk to me and others. I am unable to charge or operate the vehicle normally, and I have been advised by the dealer that the recall repair cannot be performed because there are no available batteries or parts. This leaves me without transportation and continues the safety risk identified by NHTSA, with no practical remedy or timeline. The problem has been confirmed by a Jeep dealer, and I have written documentation showing the vehicle is non-drivable due to the recall condition. I have also attempted resolution with Stellantis/Chrysler Capital without success. I request NHTSA investigate the lack of remedy availability and failures related to Recall 25V-741/68C for affected owners whose vehicles are now immobilized.

- #11707654December 29, 2025SUSPENSION, STEERING
On Monday, December 15th at approximately 4:30pm, after having turned East onto highway 556, aka Roy Avenue, accelerating to the speed limit of 45 mph, I crossed over a "seam" connecting the roadway to the bridge, which immediately set off the infamous "death wobble" on my 2024 Jeep Wrangler JLU. I was unable to control the vehicle, and I had to slow down while wrestling with the steering so that I could pull off to the right hand side of the road. Had I not been able to react in such a quick manner, I could have easily collided with oncoming traffic, killed or injured others, or been killed myself. I took the vehicle to the dealer two days later, who said that the issue was a "steering stabilizer", which appears to be the default response from Stellantis as all steering stabilizers are on back-order. There were no warning lights, no indicators that this event was imminent and the dealership indicated that all other parts were in normal working order.

This vehicle had multiple issues as a 1 year old vehicle. Shaking in the front end on the highway, leading to replacing front sway bar and dampeners. Now multiple fire hazard recalls for the battery and for engine while driving, charging, and just being parked. The vehicle has shut off while driving placing my life and others at risk in the road. No warning lights prior to any of these issues.

My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is affected by multiple active safety recalls, including recall 25V-741 related to a high-voltage battery fire risk, recall 25V-710 involving software issues that may cause loss of propulsion, and recall 25V-766 concerning potential engine contamination from casting sand that could result in engine failure. These defects place my safety and the safety of others at risk due to the possibility of sudden loss of power, vehicle immobilization, or fire, including while the vehicle is parked. The vehicle has not experienced a fire or complete failure to date; however, the recalls have been confirmed by the manufacturer and dealer, and I have been informed that no permanent remedy is currently available, with estimates extending into 2026. I have received recall notifications and operational guidance, including limiting battery charging and taking safety precautions, which restrict normal use of the vehicle. No warning lights or fault messages have occurred beyond standard recall notifications, and the vehicle remains available for inspection upon request.

It states that our vehicle is not on the recall list for death wobble, however, when we go over a bump or over 60 mph our Jeep vibrates and shakes (feeling it in the steering). We took to have tires checked, even rebalanced and they checked stems.

When braking since these lights are on it will cause issue with the brakes themselves as if they don’t want to brake fully. Now I’m a 32 year old man and am aware of making sure your brakes are good and fully functioning. I’ve noticed also the steering when slowing down too from this. Nothing underneath the vehicle is an issue for steering. All steering components are fully functioning. I’ve noticed issues with the clock spring in the Jeep as well. Sometime it comes and goes (most likely and electoral problem) geez who knew! Haha, however when I’m turning the airbag light will stay on then go off and the lights on the steering wheel themselves with turn off. They’ve been off for awhile now. Since this is happening on a daily basis. When owing down it’s cause a very big issue for me because it will make the jeep want to turn in any direction it may feel and sometimes that direction is in another lane mostly on coming traffic! I have not had the jeep looked at by a dealer but has been by a mechanic with a $3000 scanner and he still has the codes stored for me. No and no.

Concern: Suspension, steering, and electrical system malfunction Description of the Problem: While driving at highway speeds (approximately 75 mph), the vehicle experiences a wiggling or unstable sensation in the suspension, making the car feel unsafe. At the same time, the steering wheel becomes stiff and difficult to turn. Additionally, a warning message appears stating “Service Shifter.” When this occurs, the electrical system freezes, affecting vehicle functions. This electrical malfunction lasts for 1 to 2 days, during which systems do not respond properly before eventually resetting on their own. Safety Concern: The suspension instability, loss of steering responsiveness, and electrical failure at high speeds present a serious safety risk to the driver and others on the road. Request: Requesting a full inspection of the suspension, steering system, shifter system, and electrical components, including any sensors or modules that may be causing these failures.

The entire instrument cluster failed on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler and had to be completely replaced at the dealer. One day, when starting the vehicle, the entire cluster was off with no advanced warnings, no speedometer, no fuel gauge, no warning lights, no odometer, and no information display of any kind. The vehicle would still operate, but all gauges and dashboard functions were non-functional. To make matters worse, this occurred as we were leaving the hospital with our [XXX] child during a snowstorm. Our child had just been admitted for three days to the PICU for RSV-related issues. The safety of our infant was directly put at risk due to the complete loss of all dashboard and warning information while driving in hazardous conditions. We took the vehicle to the Plainfield, Indiana Jeep dealership and were informed that the entire instrument cluster needed to be replaced. We were charged $1,526 for this repair. Now, approximately one year later, the replacement instrument cluster is exhibiting similar issues. While driving, the cluster will randomly flicker or blink, indicating the underlying electrical or instrument-panel defect was not fully resolved. During these events, visibility of speed, warnings, and vehicle status is temporarily lost. This remains an ongoing safety concern. Given that NHTSA has opened an investigation into Jeep instrument-cluster failures, I believe this issue represents a systemic defect rather than an isolated incident and warrants further review. My 2018 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has experienced repeated no-start failures and electrical/CAN-bus communication issues. The vehicle has intermittently failed to start and ultimately became completely inoperable. Due to the electrical failure, the vehicle was towed to an authorized Jeep dealership on June 8, 2025. Despite remaining in the dealership’s possession for several months, no diagnostic testing or repairs have been completed. The electrical failure prevents safe and reliable operation of the vehicle and poses a risk of being stranded without warning. As of December 2025, the vehicle remains inoperable and unrepaired.

My vehicle, a 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is subject to Recall 25V-741. This recall involves a serious safety defect with vehicle’s charging system, posing I fire risk when charged. This renders the vehicle unsafe to operate. At this time, there is no available repair remedy. While the official Jeep Mopar website states that repairs parts are available but the Jeep dealership states they don't have repairs available for my vehicle. I have called two different dealerships one month apart and still received the same answer. As a result of this recall, I am unable to drive or reasonably use the vehicle. The vehicle is effectively inoperable, and I am incurring ongoing financial harm, including loan payments and loss-of-use expenses, for a vehicle that cannot be safely driven. I purchased the vehicle in good faith, and shortly after purchase learned of the open recall. Stellantis has not provided a repair timeline or alternative resolution. This situation leaves me without safe transportation and no practical remedy.
