The vehicle is demonstrating clear signs of engine failure based off the symptoms Hyundai states on its website for the rod knock bearing recall (no power, enters limp mode, white smoke out tailpipes, etc.) Hyundai states vehicle passes testing. Engine also has oil consumption issues, has had its PVC value fail twice in ten months, and burns through 1.5 qts of oil every 496 miles (has failed all 3 consumption tests). The vehicle has stalled out on multiple occasions and risked my/my child's life, has required cylinder cleanings and fuel injection cleanings, and the engine gets extremely hot. This is the second failed engine in the Sonata, and Hyundai has not stated if they will replace it.

My car's battery dies 2 or 3 times every week. I have to enter into the the car with the manual key that is inside the key fob then hit the 12v rest button to start my car. I have been to two Hyundai dealerships and they both tell me nothing is wrong. I just picked it up a week a go and it has died twice since I picked up. I see many complaints on reddit about the same issue, even some with car dying while driving. This is a serious that Hyundai needs to figure out.

10/31/23 Car lost power on freeway. Dash lit up and stalled, I took picture brought to dealership. Could not find any issues or codes. 11/12/23 Driving on Pacific Coast Highway car started making knocking/ticking noise. Pull off to a side street and car hesitated and check engine light came on. Had it towed to dealership. Still waiting on assessment. Was told will take 2-3 days due to backlog. Clearly a known Engine issue dating back to recall campaign 132 Engine/inspection/replace. (I brought into dealership on 2/9/16 to perform checks on the 132 campaign - shows completed).

Was serviced by Hyundai in March 2023 to for oil sensor light but was really the oil was being burnt inside the engine Hyundai ran 2 oil consumption test in May 2023 and June 2023 which the car failed both. Service manger sent paperwork to Hyundai letting them know that engine was faulty because paperwork was summited with the wrong mileage the replacement of the engine has not happen. So Service manger has asked me to continue driving 1k miles and checking if engine is still burning oil which it still is I continue to write the service manger and sending pictures I can not drop my car off because we only have one car and they rarely have loaners and we are in bankruptcy so renting a car with a debt card is expensive trying to let people aware that this is a problem that Hyundai knows they have on these Sonata since 2015

I am writing to bring to your attention a critical issue affecting Hyundai car owners that warrants investigation and public awareness. Hyundai cars are currently plagued by oil consumption problems that ultimately lead to engine failure, a concerning issue that remains largely unknown to most customers. When these issues arise, car owners are often left to grapple with uncooperative dealerships that either deny the problem or offer minimal assistance. Even Hyundai corporate and extended warranties fail to provide adequate support, frequently citing owner negligence as a reason for denial. This occurs despite the fact that engine sludge buildup is inevitable, even with consistent car maintenance. Furthermore, car owners are forced to endure long waiting times for their vehicles to be inspected and, if approved for an engine replacement, face additional months of delay. The situation is exacerbated by the lack of loaner vehicles and no assurance of rental reimbursement. This leaves countless individuals burdened with car payments for vehicles either stranded in garages or idle in driveways. My personal experience has been with First Hyundai, and many others have voiced similar grievances. Numerous complaints have been filed with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA), yet little action has been taken to aid the thousands of people who lack the resources to rectify this issue. It is imperative that attention is drawn to this matter as Hyundai's approach to selling cars with hidden engine issues puts customers at risk and places them in dire financial straits. I implore the Boston Globe to conduct an investigation into these concerns and help shed light on a situation that demands immediate attention

I was driving on the freeway and the car went from 70 mph to 60 then 50 then 40 slowing on the freeway each second. This has happened multiple times, each time taken in Hyundai and “repaired” only to happen a couple months later.
