Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) My 2019 Honda Odyssey slammed on the brakes while traveling 70+ MPH on a clear freeway. There was no warning and nothing in the road. I have also had issues with the braking warning light flashing for no reason while traveling down the roadway. I called the Honda dealership and inquired about the braking issues and was told unfortunately it can happen, especially if I drive on windy roads.

Internal failure of the multipurpose camera/millimeter wave radar unit with code U300-49; available for inspection upon request. All safety features linked to multipurpose camera such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, auto high beam, collision mitigation system, and road departure mitigation system are no longer functional. This problem has been confirmed at the local Honda dealership in addition to the numerous forum posts made by like Honda Odyssey owners with this same reoccurring issue. There were no warning symptoms or messages prior to failure.

The moonroof on my 2025 Honda Odyssey spontaneously exploded while I was driving it on [XXX] between New Orleans and Slidell, LA. The date of the incident was [XXX]. I was traveling at about 65 mph, the outside temperature was 93 deg F and the sky was clear. The highway was smooth and there was no construction in the area which would have produced loose pebbles or rocks. The explosion was like an artillery piece had fired overhead. I was lucky to have maintained control of the vehicle and the moonroof sliding cover was closed preventing broken glass from showering down on my wife and me. The next day I brought the car to the dealership (Royal Honda, Metairie, LA)to report the defect and to have the car repaired. I was told by the dealer that the manufacturer does not inspect failures such as this one and that Honda declined to repair the damage under warranty even though the minivan had less that 4,000 miles on it and 3 months old. My wife was driving our 2025 Honda Odyssey on [XXX] on a neighborhood road around [XXX]. She came to a stop sign and stopped to turn right. Upon accelerating to turn right, the emergency braking system activated slamming on the brakes and bringing the vehicle to an immediate stop. There were no other cars, pedestrians or other obstacles with any line of sight. The sudden stop caused her to whiplash hurting her shoulder. We brought the vehicle to Joyce Koons Honda of Manassas. They downloaded the data and confirmed that the emergency braking system had activated but there were no reason codes given. They couldn't find any other issue and test drove the vehicle for 10 miles with no incident. My wife was really shaken up by the incident and refuses to drive the car until an actual cause is found and fixed. The Camera Assembly Monocular (part 36160-THR-A81) is shorted out causing multiple safety system failures from collision warning, lane departure, emergency braking, etc. Confirmed by local mechanic and then Honda dealer (Merrillville, IN). I still have the part, not yet replaced. Quoted $2K to replace. While driving multiple warning lamps went off and cruise control disengaged. No signs of issues prior to this occurrence. Now none of the safety features related to the ADAS system work.

On September 1, 2025 the front windshield camera on my 2018 Honda Odyssey failed, part #36160-THR-A03-M1, resulting in the loss of many of my vehicle’s safety features including: adaptive cruise control, emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and lane keep assistance. The camera is available for inspection. Now when I start the vehicle it displays warnings that none of the above safety features are functional. I contacted 2 local Honda dealers, Bellingham Honda and Burlington Honda in Washington State. Both dealers said they could not fix my car since the camera is not available, since it is not in stock and on national back order, with no date of when a new camera would be be available. I have also contacted 2 online Honda parts distributors and they also say the camera is in national back order and not available, with no date of when it would be available. The result is that my vehicle has most of it’s safety systems inoperable and it can not be repaired, since a new camera is not available, and Honda cannot provide me a date when the part is available and my vehicle can be fixed. I see on the internet the front camera failure is a common occurrence in 2018 Honda Odyssey’s and request NHTSA investigate make Honda recall these vehicles to fix the safety problem.

The camera sensor is malfunctioning. It is affecting the collision sensor and lane assist sensor. Also adaptive cruise control, road mitigation and auto high beams. My vehicle is scheduled for diagnostics with a dealer, but seeing the many, many cases and videos online of the same problem, i am certain of the problem since it has been confirmed by others who have already paid for this costly repair. My warning lamps come on every time I start my vehicle. This is a definite safety issue since the issue is with the safety sensors.

My can intermittently fails to start after the auto idle start system has engaged. I am stopped at a light on a busy road. When the light turns the car tries to start but fails. Some times it is able to start but I get warnings that multiple systems had an issue or at disabled. Other times it fails to start completely and I have to cycle the power off and open my driver door before I can start the car. This has been happening for more than a year and the battery has already been replaced.

At a stop, the fuel save system shut the car off. When you take your foot off the brake the van fails to restart. If you try to restart using the push button the car will still not start because the transmission is still in drive. Then it takes awhile to get the transmission into park/neutral and then the van will start. The problem is intermittent 3 times in the last 2 months. No accidents just blocking traffic. My wife doesn't like that.

While traveling in my 2019 Honda Odyssey (40,000 mile) the vehicle completely shut off and placed itself into neutral. The warning lights for emissions system problem, brake problem, and parking assist problem lit up on the dashboard. The vehicle went into neutral and would not allow me to drive at all. Then the vehicle shut off all within 30 seconds. The vehicle would then not restart and now i have to get the vehicle towed to the Honda Service Department. After looking through other complaints there is a known recall for manufacturer defected fuel injectors for my year model odyssey but does not appear when i search for recalls. This was an insanely dangerous situation here in Oahu where the traffic is very bad. The vehicle gave no warning or check engine light and we have completed every service for the vehicle. The vehicle just randomly completely shut off and would not restart leaving my family of 5 stranded.

Multipurpose camera behind the front windshield was inspected by Honda dealership. They were able to verify it had a fault and needed to be replaced at a cost of around $1700. This camera controls many of the safety features this van advertises such as the the Lane Keep Assist and Collision Mitigation. While researching online, I was able to find multiple owners of the 2018-2019 Honda Odyssey that have had this same issue. Ebay has recently sold 3 of these cameras that have been salvaged from donors. This is an ongoing issue that Honda has not rectified. I believe this should absolutely be recalled.

I have a 2018 Honda Odyssey, with 66,855 miles. I maintain my vehicle with regularity at my Honda dealership. On [XXX], I was driving home from Las Vegas, NV to Pasadena, CA, when near the state line at Primm, NV, I started hear sounds from my engine and it started losing power. I had to pull over and then had my van towed to a dealership in Las Vegas, NV. The van is available for inspection. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer where i paid for a diagnosis to be performed. The engine light did turn on prior to me noticing the engine problem and a low oil light came on later. On [XXX], while driving in traffic, my 2018 Honda Odyssey suddenly and without warning shifted itself into Park. The vehicle slammed to a stop in the middle of an intersection, stranding my family and creating a serious risk of collision and injury. The vehicle would not move afterward and had to be towed from the scene. After the failure, the dashboard displayed multiple warnings: “Transmission Problem,” “Stop Driving When Safe,” “Emission System Problem,” and *“Blind Spot Information System Problem.” The gear shift indicator also blinked. The Odyssey has remained undrivable since the incident. The vehicle is at Stockton 12 Honda in Sandy, Utah, where the dealer confirmed a hard transmission failure (RO #[XXX]). Honda Corporate opened two cases (#[XXX] and #[XXX]). Despite my repeated calls and emails, Honda’s assigned case manager verbally denied coverage on Sept 12, 2025, stating the denial would only be reflected in Honda’s internal case notes. This failure is identical to the defect described in NHTSA Recall 19V-299, in which the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) can reboot due to low voltage and cause the transmission to shift into Park while driving. Although my VIN is not currently flagged, my Odyssey EX-L uses the same ZF 9-speed transmission and TCU as affected trims. I have a tow record, witnesses, and video evidence documenting the event. The vehicle remains disabled, leaving my family without safe transportation. This is a serious safety defect that should require investigation and expansion of the existing recall. The front multipurpose camera has failed “due to internal failure” according to the service tech at local Honda dealer. The camera functions - lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, front collision warning, and auto High beam lights, have not functioned for the past month. The windshield was replaced more than a year ago and no other incidents caused the failure, so it seems the camera itself is the issue. My van only has 63,868 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2011 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the messages "check Systems" and "Check Power" were displayed, and the battery warning light illuminated. The contact stated that on a separate occasion, after refueling, the vehicle failed to restart. After several attempts, the vehicle was able to restart; however, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was constantly illuminated, and the battery warning light was intermittently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired, and the failure persisted. The contact stated that since the failures started, the battery had been replaced twice. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

I’m have had trouble with the infotainment center since less than 5,000 miles. Supposedly it was fixed during a recall. I still have issues with it. Shortly after the recall was done, I started having all kinds of dash lights come on. Transmission system problems, adaptive cruise control problems, lane assist problem, emergency breaking problems, forward collision problems, and so on. All together, they are about 7 different lights. The rear air/heat no longer work at all. Every so often, I crank it and the radio is black. Won’t work unless I restart the car. Auto headlights no longer work. Side mirrors no longer adjust. Sunroof will no longer open. Interior lights don’t work. Automatic doors and trunk lift do not work. I can’t even lock the van anymore. When I crank it, I have to hold the key fob on the ignition button and press 3 or more times before it cranks. Switch batteries in the key fob and still no different. I paid a lot of money for this van after never having one issue out of my 2014 Odyssey. The 2020 has been nothing but a nightmare since a month after I purchased it. I will never buy or recommend a Honda vehicle to anyone. In fact, I will discourage anyone who tells me they’re thinking about a Honda purchase. I am now stuck with a barely working vehicle because who can afford another car in this economy?
