We purchased our 2018 Honda Odyssey in January of 2024. Since we purchased the car, it regularly hesitates from the stopped position. This regularly yet intermittently causes a safety hazard when turning right into traffic or making a left turn because the acceleration does not work and feels as if it is failing for 2-4 seconds. There is a recall with other models that are the same year and close to with similar issues however ours is not included. I have now reported it to the dealership multiple times and am told they cannot replicate it so they can't help me. I was also told that there is a lag with this engine which causes teh delay but they have no concern. This causes performance issues, and puts me in a precaious situation oten when making a left turn or trying to cross multiple lanes of traffic. This issue really needs to be fixed and covered.

Front windshield camera failed and available for inspection if needed. All safety features tied to this camera are now disabled. Even basic cruise control is disabled. Problem has been check by a dealer with an estimated cost of $2600 to repair a simple camera module. Not inspected by police but was inspected by the manufactures dealer. I can get it inspected by the police if it helps. There are several warning lights that come up after starting the car. Even dinging when backing out of the driveway causing distractions. This is a known issue for this year Honda Odyssey van. There are lots of posts about it and how to try and fix it without the dealer charging you 10% of the cost of a 2025 model. For something designed for families this is not what I expected. This vehicles safety is impacted by the removal of these features.

On multiple occasions, the idle-stop function engaged at a red light and then either the entire car shut down or the computer froze for a minute or two then restarted. For each incident, we had cars behind us that either nearly hit us when we did not go forward when the light turned green or nearly hit us by aggressively going around us while we restarted the engine.

Reference: EA25004 Car fails to restart while warm, and idle stopped. This has happened twice in the last three months. The car will idle stop at an intersection - temperature outside is around 90-93. Air conditioner and other electronics are on in the car, but not on full power. The car will fail to come back on when the foot is taken off the brake. The battery light turns on. Must re-start the car using the push button after several tries. This invariably happens at a very busy intersection. Cars behind you see you take the foot off the brake but the car doesn't move - this is a very dangerous situation. 17,000 miles on odometer Took the car to a dealer a few days later. The dealer says everything tests fine. I ask for a new battery, and they claim they replace it after forcing a test failure. Issue happens again a few weeks later. Also noted: the car has a hard time re-starting when it's warm. It'll turn once, cause the fuses to click, pause, and then turn over and start. So it may not just be the idle-stopper that's the problem. Took to another Honda dealer. They refused to do anything - claimed all tests were fine. They could not replicate the problem. They noted the battery was somewhat discharged. They charged the battery, and said everything still tests fine. No further repair made. On the way home (25 minute drive - mostly highway), near the house, coming back from idle stop - the car laboriously turned back (slow/delayed turnover) on. Still not right, Not a full failure, but not how it should be behaving either. I try to defeat the engine idle stop - but this is an added human factor and I often forget to do so.

Like many other people on the [XXX] forums, our Honda Odyssey has a water leak that dripped onto the Tailgate Control Module, causing it to corrode and stop working. Now, our tailgate door will not open or close electrically, nor even manually using the handle outside. We have to crawl through the vehicle into the trunk, open a trim piece with a screwdriver, and stick our finger into the mechanical parts to disengage the latch to allow the door to open. Safety issues: 1) It's hard to know whether the door is fully closed and latched, so it could pop open while driving. 2) In the event of a car crash or other emergency, we may need to rely on that tailgate door being operational, so it being jammed by a widespread and known problem seems like a predictable life threatening issue. had purchased my 2015 Honda Odyssey in the year of 2015. When I first went in for a first service my car have a light saying Check engine, check VSA, check LDW, check FDW and once a while my shake when we are on the road. We told the service people at the dealership to have a look at it but they said nothing wrong with it.

The multipurpose camera above the rearview mirror has stopped working. It controls several systems including; adaptive cruise control, automatic brake system, forward collision warning, lane keeping assistance, lane departure warning, automatic high beam control. Every time I start the vehicle I have to clear 6 different malfunction warnings and non of the effected systems will function. There is an increased risk of accidents. I just had a vehicle diagnostic ran at Flow Honda of Charlottesville VA and they quoted me a price of $2,060 to replace the part.

Read Driver side power sliding door, got stuck halfway open. I've had this happen on the passenger side as well, but after turning the car off, putting power doors to manual, and rocking it back and forth, I got it fixed no problem and ended up having to replace a bump sensor on the door and it resolved. I thought that's what was going on when it happened to my driver side door as well. However after I turned the car off, and turned the doors to manual it still wouldn't close. I turned them back to automatic, turned the car back on, and the door proceeded to start going back, it rocked violently then broke the rear window and before stopping again. I read this track roller has been a problem for MANY users of this van and in some cases the entire door has fallen off because of it.

Vehicle stalled on a highway after an idle stop event at a stop light. Vehicle went to PARK. Required a full restart by operator to go when light changed and traffic was flowing in other lanes. Dealership examined next day and indicated battery was good. Voltage dropping to 8V to 10V when starting. Recommended to disable idle stop each time vehicle is started. A new starter was authorized and placed on order.

I hear a popping/crackling noise from the speakers then I get complete network loss for my backup camera, my dvd player, my clock, maps etc.System does a report after 5+ minutes. Message displayed before everything goes black is Network Connection Lost and MOST Net Off. This issue is ongoing and seems to happen now every day sometimes multiple times in a driving session. It just started about 2 weeks ago. There is an active recall for this exact issue for 2021 Honda Odysseys but my VIN does not seem to be included.

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while parked on the shoulder of a busy interstate, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was later towed to the local mechanic who diagnosed that the rod bearings had failed, and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V751000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Had a Honda fixed for a well known piston ring problem that did not have a recall, but should have at the time repaired. In July, Honda sent us an extended warranty for the very problem we had repaired. I sent in all documentation and claim was denied twice. My dealer has sent me a voice mail confirming the repair is the exact one mentioned in the warranty extension. American Honda is claiming certain error codes must be mentioned in the work order in order to pay the claim. This is at best a bad faith move on Honda's part.

When driving from West Hartford to Westerly on June 3, serious banging started coming from the left rear undercarriage. I stopped by a local Midas shop which identified the problem as a totally broken rear spring which created a dangerous driving situation. At the time, the van had 57K miles on it. The shop strongly advised that we should consider the van as inoperable, and we subsequently had them make repairs. I contacted the dealer, Westbrook Honda in Westbrook CT,. The service manager relayed that he had never heard of a broken spring on a vehicle with these few miles, but the certified warranty coverage expired in August 2024. He recommended I contact Honda Customer Service as this failure appeared to warrant consideration due to its rarity and severity. Honda Customer Service responded by agreeing to cover damage for only half the incurred cost because we didn't bring it to a Honda dealership, despite doing that would have constituted a severe driving safety exposure. Their acknowledgement indicates that this may be evidence of faulty manufacturing of the spring which would appear to warrant NHTSA review and assessment. The incident happened in December 2022; the vehicle is available for inspection still. Without warning, the engine light started blinking, and engine ran very rough, so I ended up pulled over and stuck until we could tow to the local Honda dealership. Then was without a car for several days. The dealership found error code P0302 (misfire on cylinder 2), due to oil gumming up on the spark plugs, caused by the eco system design flaw in the 2014 Odyssey. The dealer quoted $5640 to replace the 1-3 piston rings. I could not afford this, so they replaced all 6 plugs and cleared the codes for a short term fix ($465). Which brings us to now, when Honda has offered a warranty extension and to reimburse for previous repairs related to this problem. I submitted my paperwork for the $465 reimbursement a month ago and have had multiple phone calls with Honda, and several "escalations" to supposed supervisors, each of whom seem to have not even looked at the incident details. Honda has denied the claim. The paperwork I submitted to them is from the dealer repair in Dec. 2022 and states "misfire on cylinder 2, need piston ring repair on cylinders 1-3, P0302 was the dtc error code, replaced all 6 plugs and cleared codes for short term fix, for long term fix, vehicle needs the 1-3 piston rings replaced." The Honda reps claim the dealer service did not use the right wording; it should have the words "fouled by oil" in the service report (but they don't provide appropriate wording for service departments to use). The last voicemail I received from them said there was no error code provided (which there clearly was). Honda is not interested in fulfilling the reimbursement their latest campaign promises. Beyond that, the long term fix is not covered on the warranty extension, because the vehicle is not currently broken. So I am left with a van that I can't drive on the highway or out of town, since it can happen again without warning. This is a safety risk for my family. Shame!!

My Honda's multipurpose camera system has failed without warning or apparent cause. Upon starting my vehicle, I now receive multiple alert lights indicating simultaneous failures in critical safety systems including: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS) Collision Mitigation System Road Departure Mitigation System Auto High Beam functionality Occasionally, all the system failure alerts go away. According to my local Honda dealership, this represents an "internal failure" of the multipurpose camera unit (code U300-49). The dealership wants >$2,000 to fix the issue that appears to be a widespread known problem. There was no warning before the complete system shutdown, and all safety features connected to this camera are now non-functional.
