Like many other Honda Civics 2018, I have a "sticky" steering wheel when making slight turns or changing lanes on highway, normally at 50 mph or more. it happens all the time now. seems to be a safety issue but Honda is not recalling. We bought for our new driver [XXX] old in Jan) and feel it's a true safety concern for him. Please advise. thanks INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

These vehicles have major paint issues. I experienced the paint flaking off the side back panel near the window and had to go through a somewhat annoying process to have the dealer look into it. After I had this issue I looked online to see if anyone has this same problem and it came to my attention that it is a nationwide issue that is not being addressed. Here is a link of other people who have experienced this issue, [XXX] . The paint is too thin and loses it's clear coat easily then the color breaks and flakes off. I honestly believe this is a manufacture defect as so many cars are affected with the exact same issue. Now my car paint is peeling near the top of the window and I would like an investigation done. I have taken very good car of the vehicle, hand washes and it only has 15k miles. I paid over 28k for this car and didn't expect the paint to be so thin or poor. Please help myself and the many others that are having this issue by formally opening an investigation. I appreciate your time and your assistance. Take care! Clutch has begun slipping very badly at 40,000 miles, sometimes to the point of not being able to accelerate. It is worse at highway speeds. There is a known service bulletin 22-017 outlining this issue. According to the VIN, this vehicle was assembled in the Alliston, Ontario, Canada plant and further online research has found multiple others having the same issue on vehicles from the same plant.

- #11620910October 20, 2024VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES, LANE DEPARTURE: WARNING
When I tried to start the vehicle on 10/14/24, it did not start, however it started showing various messages on the electronic dashboard. The vehicle was towed to John Eagle Honda Of Dallas (Honda Dealer) on 10/14/24 around 11:15 AM. I am enclosing the diagnostic report run on the vehicle by the John Eagle Honda of Dallas on 10/15/24 which shows some of the messages I had seen on the dashboard. My dashboard never showed me low battery at any time but the car did not start and the message of lane departure, brake failure messages came on the dashboard. I have LoJack App service on my phone which tracks everything on my vehicle.I used the vehicle on 10/11/24 and 10/12/24 and there was no issue in the vehicle nor did I see any dashboard warnings. The dealer kept the car overnight stating that they were too busy on 10/14/24 and promised me that they will provide alternate vehicle on 10/15/24 morning as per my phone call. I went to the dealership on the 15th at 8:50 AM to pick up the alternate vehicle, the service advisor said I can take my vehicle since he had changed the battery and it was safe to drive and did not provide me the invoice for the replaced battery. I asked the service advisor for the diagnostic report and he informed me that everything was okay in the report. I insisted on taking the print out of the diagnostic report and had to wait to collect it. Seeing the time on the report I am able to understand that they ran the diagnostic report while I was waiting. After driving my vehicle from the dealership and not having new battery invoice in my hand I called Honda motor company customer service and narrated my dealership visit details along with being uncomfortable on the safety of the vehicle. I didn't get any help from them as well. They created a case number for me. They said that someone will reach out to me and no one has till date. If you need any other information please feel free to contact me.

I called to confirm the recall on my vehicle and after I was told that in fact my vehicle does have a recall that they don't have the parts so I will have to wait, I was not given any time line and absolutely no information on when my vehicle recall will be fixed

The steering wheel sticks and requires abnormal effort to turn the wheel from the neutral (steering straightforward) to either left or right resulting in oversteering situations once the wheel has "broke-free" from the sticking. The sticking is not noticeable until the vehicle has warmed-up, usually ten to fifteen minutes drive time. The 2018 Civic has 74,850 miles and sticking began around 65,000 but has become more prevalent over time.

Driving around town, I stopped our 2012 Honda Civic at a stoplight. The brake pedal vibrated from the ABS modulator, then went all the way to the floor. I had the brake system checked at a workshop, bled the brake lines, and the same situation repeated. It was recommended I replace the brake modulator and brake pump. I called our Honda dealer and the brake pump is on hard backorder with no indication of when or if it will be available. A check of junkyards showed very few of these pumps potentially available, indicating demand is very strong. Many of the Civics in the junkyards we saw were totalled due to front end collissions. Perhaps they discovered the brake issue too late? The car is not driveable. After reviewing forums and [XXX] there were many reports of brake problems with 2012 - 13 Honda Civics. I believe this warrants a close look. Brakes are the most important part of any motor vehicle in my opinion, and until there is a remedy my car will sit as a 3,000 lb paperweight. It has been 10 months since I was first notified of this fuel pump recall from Honda. The Honda dealership in Bel Air, Maryland still has not received the replacement parts from Honda to correct this problem. What is this delay? This is a serious problem and safety risk. I drive 500 miles a week.

While driving down a busy freeway, the CVT transmission failed. I was able to coast a little ways, but was unable to find a safe place to clear the road and traffic. I immediately called 911 for state trooper assistance to keep me from being rear-ended. I had no warning or Caution light on the dash until after the transmission failed. After the failure, I got the check transmission advisory on the dashboard. The Honda dealership confirmed it was a transmission failure.

The contact owns a 2015 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal and brake pedal felt stiff and the vehicle had jolted while depressing the brake pedal before losing automotive power. The check engine, brake, transmission, and several other warning lights illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that after accelerating from a stop, the vehicle had jolted a day prior. The contact stated that an AAA service representative attempted to jump-start the vehicle however, the vehicle would lose automotive power once disconnected. The vehicle was towed to a local independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with codes: P1440 and P0AE1. The contact was advised by the independent mechanic that the failure was related to Service Bulletin: 20-030. The local dealer was contacted however advised that contact that the VIN was not included in the Service Bulletin. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

The vehicle had a light for emissions. Brought to Honda dealer. Charged me for two diagnosis fees. The tank / neck and fuel pump all rusted out at connection. No rust under or on the vehicle. Obviously the manufacturer has poor quality tank. This does not happen on 8 yr old vehicle and they want $4500 to fix.

Steering becomes noticeably "sticky" at highway speeds (50+). Steering wheel "sticks/freezes" near the center point and it takes some force to turn/unstick it ... then I am forced to over/re-correct the opposite direction making the car swerve right/left or vice versa. On a slick road this could cause a complete loss of control ... luckily I don't drive at highway speed on a daily basis. Car mileage is currently 57,860. This has been happening for at least a year, and I just finally remembered to Google it last night and discovered that this is a known issue with Civics.

The steering on my 2019 Civic is sticky when making small adjustments to the left and right while driving at both high and low speeds. There is a creaking like noise when turning the wheel to the right while accelerating and while stationary. The stickiness of the steering wheel while driving makes controlling the vehicle difficult. The stickiness of the steering wheel also makes adjustments while driving dangerous as the car jerks to whatever side I am trying to move toward due to the stickiness of the wheel. This issue has been confirmed and recalled in Honda Civics from 2022- onward, but it appears that this recalled issue is occurring in older models, such as my 2019 Civic. No warning lights or messages occurred before this issue. My vehicle was brought to the Honda dealership where they were able to replicate the same noise and stickiness. The CV axle and sway bar links were replaced, but that did not fix the issue. The mechanic stated that the steering rack could need to be replaced as this was a common issue with Honda Civics.

The contact owns a 2022 Honda Civic. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V744000 (Steering) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated that while driving at 40 MPH the steering wheel "was sticky." The contact would make steering adjustments to the left or right and the steering wheel would stay in the same position until she had manually straightened the steering wheel. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that she had taken the vehicle to a dealer before the accident. The dealer diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the steering box gears needed to be replaced, however parts to complete the repair were not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was becoming recurring and had contributed to her not being able to steer correctly and she had crashed into a curb. The contact stated that she had scrapes to the driver's side front tire and front bumper, also on the driver's side, but was able to drive the vehicle. The contact had not taken the vehicle back to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

I started having steering issues from the steering wheel being stiff and having to fight against it to keep the car in the lane of traffic. I took the car into the dealership, and the service writer stated he knew exactly what was wrong. He stated it could have gotten dangerous and could lead to a crash. I was charged 4500.00 for an electric power steering rack. After seeing the recent recalls and other same sounding issues, I am thinking the recall for the newer models, is potentially what was wrong with my 2016 Civic. I only had 33K miles on it. I had this repaired exactly 1 year ago. I feel that this recall should go back to cover the older models like mine. Seeing the other complaints from other people, it sounds like they should be covered.

I previously filed a complaint on this car about the sticky steering. I understand Honda has recalled many cars for this same problem on model years 2020-2023. Why would they not recall my 2017 civic with this very same steering issue. It IS a safety issue, especially at highway speeds.
