The head gasket on my car blew before 150,000 miles. I had my car repeatedly serviced to include the recall for the fuel tank. I had to replace fuel injectors in a head gasket on this vehicle.

I am writing to formally raise a serious safety concern regarding a known and recurring defect in the infotainment/head unit system of my 2017 Honda Accord. Like many other Honda owners, I am experiencing unpredictable and extremely loud static or popping sounds through the speakers, which occur without warning while the vehicle is in operation. This issue significantly compromises vehicle safety. The sudden, blaring static drowns out critical audio alerts such as collision warnings, lane departure signals, and other safety-related notifications, placing me and others at increased risk while driving. Upon bringing this issue to a certified Honda dealership, I was informed that the head unit cannot be disconnected, as it is integrated with the vehicle’s essential safety features. In other words, I am forced to choose between enduring a hazardous and disruptive audio malfunction or disabling key safety systems entirely—an unacceptable situation for any driver, particularly in a vehicle marketed as reliable and safe. Furthermore, I was advised that the only known solution is a full replacement of the head unit, which comes at a cost of approximately $1,800 out of pocket. It is deeply concerning that Honda is expecting customers to bear the cost of repairing a defect that is both widespread and clearly rooted in manufacturing or design flaws. Given the scope and severity of this issue, I urge Honda to take immediate and responsible action by issuing a recall or providing an extended warranty repair for all affected vehicles. I am requesting a formal response regarding how Honda plans to resolve this matter in my case and ensure the safety of its customers moving forward.

Vehicle included in 2017 Battery sensor recall, repaired promptly upon notice. This is a separate issue/sensor. ***Electrical Safety Hazard impacting EPS, ABS, TPMS*** *** All other electrical components involved *** Car has had electrical issues since the day I purchased it in 2016, with no codes indicating an issue. Car would fail to start, testing would indicate starter or battery failure. For the last three months, voltage would drop to unacceptable levels whenever the headlights were off (6 week old, brand new, not reman alternator unit maintained 14 amps with lights on, dropped to 12.1 with them off). On July 11, 2025 (4 days ago as of this report), while driving approximately 47 mph, the plug in voltmeter on the car abruptly started plummeting on a road with sharp angles and no shoulder to pull onto, despite lights being on. No improvement after shutting off lights, climate control, and radio displays, continues lowering to 11.8. Turned climate control back on, headlights back on, briefly alternator reached 12.2 amps, before rapidly dropping to unsustainable levels (I was aware of this because of my plug in voltmeter. The car's built in electrical system didn't alert until the voltage hit 8.8). Still nowhere to pull over safely. Electronic power steering cuts out abruptly, followed by abs, tpms, traction control. Turning the car into the first available lot to get out of traffic, on my left took an inordinate amount of strength, and I barely coasted to a stop when every single electronic component on the car blinked out and the entire car shut down. The car is exclusively maintained by a licensed, accredited automotive repair facility's owner, who is a master automotive technician and able to provide proof of all of the above, including previous electrical repairs listed below. The issue is the vehicle's ELD sensor. One small part has cost me nearly 7 figures in repairs Car has gone through 4 starters, 8 batteries, and is now waiting on a 3rd alternator

2018 Honda Accord 1.5T EX trim and I had a head gasket completely blown at around 82,600 miles. I, alongside with many many other 1.5T Accord owners, am experiencing this head gasket issue for such a low milage vehicle and it is simply inacceptable and Honda seems to be entirely ignoring this widespread, recurring problem on this engine. Reaching out and file a report in hopes of getting this to Honda's attention so they can address this asap. It has been 7 years since this problem and nothing has changed, which is not okay.

Our 2016 Accord Sedan EX-L suddenly in the past month has started having the issue with a very loud static noise emitting from all of the vehicle speakers shortly after starting up, and will not stop until the vehicle is turned off. The two displays seem slow to turn back on after this occurs and this occurs more frequently when the outdoor temperature is 85+ degrees Fahrenheit. From a search online, this seems to be a common problem for the 2016-2017 Accords, and so this should definitely be addressed by NHTSA and the manufacturer. The noise is pretty alarming and distracting and will likely cause many accidents for owners with this same issue, please do something about this.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2014 Honda Accord. The contact stated that when the vehicle was purchased, the advertisement and the odometer indicated the mileage was 79,000. The vehicle was a dealer purchase. The contact stated that when the vehicle was taken for inspection, the contact was informed that the mileage report indicated that the previous mileage was 128,000. The dealer was made aware of the issue, however, declined to confirm that the information was correct.

ABS module will breakdown pre-maturely. Warning lights on the dashboard will come on like the ABS, VSA and parking breaks while driving. So, the ABS and VSA is not working while driving that can cause the vehicle to lock up the breaks.

Well to start I had to replace my head gasket already last winter at 59K miles and for awhile now I had warning lights on my dash for CMBS system failure and cruise control/steering wheel controls don’t work besides the ones for music. No lane assist, none of those safety features work at all and haven’t for awhile

Loud, pulsing, static sound from the car speakers. I was driving home after purchasing this car and an impossibly loud static sound came from the speakers even though the audio unit was powered off. I thought I had been hit by a truck and went off the road. There was some damage to the body and the underside of the car, but I was able to drive it back home. I pulled the fuse for the radio thinking that was the problem, but the sound returned, still blasting static from the speakers and now my side cameras and blind spot warnings do not work. This is not just an annoying problem, it is a serious safety issue. Even when I am driving with hearing protection the noise drowns out all other traffic sounds. This static is full volume, measured at 90 DBA on a calibrated Radio Shack 33-2055 sound level meter. I can't drive the car because of the hearing damage, and because of the intermittent nature of the problem, it can surprise you and cause a crash. It is the most distracting thing I have ever had to deal with while driving a car.

2/24/2025 Safety Recall work performed at Honda Marin; change Fuel Pump per recall. 4/28/2025 I reported vehicle stalling/misfiring, decelerating on its own and all lights keep coming on as a result of Fuel Pump change. Marin Honda performed cleaning of battery cables; technician claims nothing is wrong with the car. [XXX] car stalled at intersection, I went back to Honda Marin and reported vehicle is still having the same previous issues and complained that this is dangerous to have the car automatically decelerated on its own. This time I requested only for a diagnostic from Honda Marin. They spoke to my mom, who was not authorized to approve any work on my car, stated no blown head gaskets but mis-firing on cylinder 3, fixed the issue, passed pressure test(s), no leaks; and car was up to factory specks costs $2812.77 charged to my mom. 6/03/2025 brought car back to Honda Marin, same issues; service dept. road tested for 4 miles and stated the car was working as normal. 6/11/2025 told Honda Marin that the car is stalling and misfiring again; car shut down while on freeway; Honda Marin claimed problem was a punctured hose, charged $10.34 car up to factory specks. 6/12/2025 Brought car back to Honda Marin; still misfiring, stalling and dash lights coming on. Car will not accelerate past 3000rpm.; car shut down while in far left land on the [XXX] going to Marin County. Honda Marin performed leaked down test failed cylinder #4; blown head gasket; verbal quote approximately $5500.00 to fix. In addition to engine failures I had battery issues as well. Per reddit threads others too are having very similar issues, once the fuel pump is replaced, unexpected additional costs and safety failures often occur. This is a Honda Manufacturing Defect, the original fuel pumps are defective, causing a direct impact on the performance of the engine, unexpected damages which is leading to major financial and safety costs to the consumer. Lights go crazy in dashboard apparently due to constan cylinder misfires, spark plugs changed, same issue, fuel injectors and coils changed, same happened keep it getting fix and the problem persist, making the car dangerous to drive, since it loses power since the car it’s not able to respond and work as it should be Having engine, steering and brake issues, problem has been confirmed by dealer. It hasn’t been inspected by manufacturer. The lost of power and acceleration it’s probably one of the symptoms before all the light go on again. It’s been several times that this happens and I know for a fact that many people are experiencing this issues due to turbo or head gasket failure. Might get that inspected soon.

Information console glitches randomly and will close out maps, play music, switch input sources, and will call/hangup without driver input. Initially happened maybe 1-2 times a month, however now happens constantly making the entire informatics system inoperable and is very distracting. I am unable to upload the videos of it glitching (this doesn’t allow video files) but can provide if needed

While driving, the vehicle radio jumps screens without any user input. When you try to interact with it, it freezes and locks up for a period of time, and then catches up. It is especially worse if a phone is plugged into, leading to distracted driving and a potential safety hazard. According to the dealer it’s a known problem, but Honda has no fix.

While driving the car the power steering light comes on and power steering goes out then. No warning just goes off and power to steering wheel is not working. This has happened going 55 mph. Very dangerous. I feel this should be investigated. I did read this was a problem with this car. WHY NO RECALL??!! ALSO WAS CHECKED BY MECHANIC. This has happened more than once before today

The malfunction is of the audio/speaker system. Periodically it will begin making a horrible pulsing screeching noise without any warning. It continues to make this horrible noise at a deafening level causing a huge uncomfortable distraction while driving. Turning down the volume on the audio system has no effect. Completely powering off the audio system has no effect. The noise continues relentlessly until you completely shut off the vehicle. One instance happened while I was driving home from work and sitting in traffic on the freeway. I rolled down all the windows to try to minimize the sound bouncing around inside the car and the sound was so loud it was making the other drivers around me uncomfortable. I had to learn to drive home with earplugs to help prevent myself from going deaf. The only relief has come since I completely removed the fuse for the audio system, however now I am left without access to multiple features on my vehicle. Research on the internet is showing that this seems to be a common issue with this make/model/year of vehicle but the manufacturer is not willing to acknowledge it. Because of this I have not bothered to take it to a dealership to have them inspect it.
