- #11678141August 4, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, SERVICE BRAKES
The Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), which is part of Honda's advanced safety features, slammed on the brakes driving down the road at about 40 mph. When the vehicle slammed the brakes, me and the passenger were jerked forward with seatbelts on. Had a vehicle been behind us traveling it would have slammed into the back of my vehicle causing an accident. I will be contacting the dealer to address this problem as it just happened yesterday 8/3/2025. Although I did read that this complaint is currently under investigation. When the vehile slammed on the breaks, the Brake warning light came on right after the brake was slammed and immediately went off.

ABS (Automated Breaking System) is impacted and turns on lights on my dashboard failing the following while driving (Forward Collision Warning, Tire Pressure Light, Lane Departure Warning, Anti-skid system) It is avaliable for testing on request. Car does not stop as it is supposed to in urgent breaking due to ABS failure and puts driver and others on risk. My spouse already got in an accident due to this. Yes, after months of system failure on and off, I finally got my car inspected at a independent service center. Honda dealership costs more and are not ready to even look at it without paying, even though this seems to me a problem discussed online in many forums/sites. I called and emailed manufacturer and was turned down by requesting me to go to the Honda dealership repair which charge way more only to inspect only one issue. No other than the independent service center. Yes, there were dashboard lights of the above mentioned lights and I discussed this with Honda service team during my oil change and I was said this is driver assistance and not a safety issue. The root cause diagnosed by independent service center was ABS system.

The Honda Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) will randomly activate without any obstacles in front of the vehicle. Consequently, increasing the risk for car accidents, loss of control, and bodily harm. The car has not been inspected by a dealer or certified mechanic for this problem. However, the vehicle is available for inspection and repair as needed. While the incident occurs, the CMBS warning system will flash ‘Brake’.

When the fuel tank was at 1/4 full/empty, the car started stalling on the highway. We were able to go to a gas station and filled the gas tank. The problem was gone. We went to our mechanic but he could not find the problem. A few day's later the gas tank was 1/2 full/empty and the same problem happened. We filled it up and the problem was gone. We went back to our shop and the mechanic did a diag but didn't find any fault codes. He advised to go to the Honda dealer to take a look at it.

After a driveshaft recall repair was performed on July 10, 2025, at Germain Honda of Dublin, my 2013 Honda Accord EX-L immediately began showing multiple safety system warning lights, including ABS, VSA, traction control, and check engine. These lights had never appeared prior to the repair. Diagnostic codes included: •VSA Solenoid Valve Malfunction •Modulator Control Unit Power Source Circuit (IG) Low Voltage These point directly to the ABS/VSA modulator, which is located near where the driveshaft repair was done. Despite the timing, Honda has refused to cover the repair, quoting me nearly $3,000. The dealer also cleared the codes before I arrived and then claimed they were “historic” with no documentation. I’ve confirmed my battery and alternator are in good condition, ruling out the common causes of voltage errors. I believe something was disturbed or left improperly connected during the recall service, resulting in a dangerous condition involving the vehicle’s braking and stability systems. This is a potential safety risk that arose after a manufacturer-issued recall repair, and I am requesting a formal investigation into similar cases if reported.

While I was driving on the freeway, the car brakes hard on its own when there were no cars in front of me. This happened twice. Thankfully there were no cars behind me either, otherwise I might have gotten into an accident

Dear - NHTSA Vehicle Safety Division, I am writing to formally document my ongoing concern regarding a faulty Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) module in my Honda vehicle, which I believe poses a serious safety risk. Despite contacting Honda Corporation on four separate occasions to address this issue, the company has refused to acknowledge or accept responsibility for what appears to be a recurring defect found in several Honda models produced between 2013 and 2018. The vehicle was inspected by a certified technician at a Honda dealership, who confirmed that the braking failure stemmed from a malfunction of the ABS module. The technician also acknowledged that this issue is common in Hondas from the aforementioned model years. I relayed this information to Honda directly, along with my willingness to cover part of the repair cost, but was offered no resolution or goodwill support. The replacement part alone is quoted at over $3,100—an unacceptable burden for what appears to be a known issue. As a loyal Honda customer who has purchased five Honda vehicles over the years, I am extremely disappointed in the lack of accountability and response from both the dealership and American Honda Motor Co. This is my first experience encountering this level of disregard from a brand I once trusted for quality and dependability. Unfortunately, Honda’s approach to this problem no longer reflects the reliability and professionalism customers have come to expect. I am submitting this statement in support of any formal investigation into systemic safety concerns regarding ABS modules in affected Honda vehicles. If any additional documentation or information is required, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you for your attention to this matter. My car displays every single light on the dashboard it’s been happening for about a year. It starts to shake when I turn it on sometimes it does it sometimes it doesn’t but now it’s a reoccurring issue and has been happening for the past six months we’ve brought it to everywhere. The engine is stalling and won’t go over 20 mph. I’m lucky if it gets to 40 . There’s a recall on my car, but my van is not covered underneath it. Looking to see if this can be looked into since so many people I have spoken to says that that’s what they’re experiencing until they got the recall fixed

Vehicle had a sudden loss of power. Pulled over on highway had to restart. Engine warning said Emission system problem. Had diagnostic done several codes PO300,PO301,PO302,PO303,PO304,PO172. Problem seems to be similar to the service bulletin 22-002 dated Feb 18,22 for the Honda Accord 2015-2016. It seems to be a known issue with this engine. Honda should take care of this safety issue.

The faulty touch screen infotainment system creates an environment that is not conducive to safe driving. This specific issue is referred to as the "ghost touch" across the industry which involves the system randomly rapidly pressing buttons autonomously and producing an audible beep with every press of the button. Not only is every random beep a distraction but this issue causes drivers to attempt to regain control of the infotainment system while driving due to the fact that most drivers now rely on these systems for navigation and to abide by hands-free traffic laws. You may ask "Why don't you simply turn the infotainment system off?". Well I tried and the system turns itself back on. This creates a scenario that is equivalent to the dangers presented by texting and driving. A simple google search of 'Honda Accord Ghost Touch' will yield a myriad of results with consumers experiencing this issue and sharing the same concerns. I have audio-video recording of this issue and have spoken to the service advisor at Pearson Honda located in Mildothian, VA and they are requesting that customers pay $180 for a diagnosis of this well known issue but they do not know the exact cause or solution. Customers have had their systems reset and even had the screen replaced and the issue still occurs. This issue has been present in my vehicle for at least 3 months but has progressively gotten worse overtime to the point that driving the vehicle is intolerable as it distracts me while I'm driving and causes a great amount of frustration which also effects my driving behavior.

Power Steering Failure on multiple occasions dating back to November of 2023. My safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the steering wheel would lock while car was in motion, at times while making a turn, preventing me from operating my vehicle safely. The problem has been confirmed by three independent service centers: Meineke, located at 9640 S Cicero Ave, Oak Lawn, IL; Reyes Auto Care, located at 9200 Kilpatrick Ave, Oak Lawn, IL; Highline Automotive, located at 11332 SW Hwy, Palos Hills, IL. Vehicle has been inspected by independent mechanics who all came to the conclusion of power steering issue, requiring system update or total replacement of gearbox and/or rack and pinion. Warning lights come on when issue starts. Has been ongoing since I acquired car in Nov of 2023

Honda Service Bulletin 21-018 extends the warranty on 2018-2020 Honda Accords for the A/C condenser to 10 years from the original date of purchase with unlimited miles. This afternoon, I paid over $1,700 to the dealer for a fully diagnosed and repaired condenser replacement. Given the near-identical failure mechanism and that the faulty condensers in question are likely from the same production-era manufacturing process, I respectfully request that Honda consider extending the same 10-year, unlimited-mileage warranty coverage to affected 2017 Accord models.

The audio system in my car has gone bust - there is a periodic loud static noise that blasts out of the speakers at maximum volume and can not be turned off, even by setting the audio power off. It was brought to the Honda dealership and confirmed the audio system. The noise is so loud and startling that it causes the driver to easily lose focus on the road. It can also be so unexpecting that it can cause sudden jolts in movement, endangering the roadway. When looking online, this seems to be a common issue with the 2017 accord model ex-l as there have been many forums of people posting their same complaints. To make matters worse, there are no after-market replacements that work with the ex-ls dual screen setup and getting the actual part is in indefinite back order. It appears that Honda simply wants us to cope with the dangerous issue.

07/30/25 - Over the course of 1 week, I have received three dashboard warnings "Supplemental Restraint System Problem. See Your Dealer" It goes away once car turns off. Honda of Katy states to bring in when alert still on dashboard (which will disappear when car turned off) but quoted will be required to sign a $215 diagnostic fee. No charge if it is just an error code. But $215 can be used toward repair. This is a SAFETY ISSUE and should be a SAFETY RECALL as owners should not need to pay for manufacturer DEFECTS. I can not afford to fix since still paying off the known issue of fuel injectors failing but not yet SAFETY RECALLED. Please help.
