Car went into “limp mode” in a raining day while accelerating - suddenly loses power while check engine light blinks. Nearly hit by following cars on the highway trying to pass other cars. Luckily was able to pull over to the emergency lane. Turned off the engine and turned it back on, the problem went away. A service bulletin related to this well known issue already exists - 20-053. Please act before any serious accident or death happens.

I was driving for approx. 3 hours on the interstate and exited to return home. After stopping at the red light my car would not excel. The rpm where moving up to 4 plus but the car wouldn’t go over 20 miles an hour when pressing the excelerator. No warning lights came on but I pulled over and turned the car off trying to decide what to do. I couldn’t get back on the road driving 20 miles an hour because it wouldn’t be safe. I decided to restarted the car then I drove 2 miles home without incident. I will take the car to the dealer after the holidays because I’m scared to drive it. I bought the car with 25,000 miles and it now has 32,000 miles on it.

we bought this Acura RDX in 2015 and noticed the headlights are dim; as we drive more often in nights recently, it becomes obvious that this kind dim headlights are very dangerous for driving in nights, particularly on high way. I was looking for repairing but was told this was all without faulty from the original equipment. I searched online and realized this was a safety problems many drivers have complained and contacted Acura dealers; unfortunately, Acura seems not like to look into this common defect. Please see the attached link of these complains. https://www.carproblemzoo.com/acura/rdx/2014/headlights-problems.php I am reaching out to you to ask for your investigation and hopeful you could force Acura to make a recall for replacement to repair. this is a serious safety issue on Acura which we liked a lot, but we are afraid driving in dark due to this big issue. it is not safe and could lead to severe injuries to many who drive it. thanks so much. The fuel pump was replaced in July 2020 due to a safety recall. That new pump failed on October 2021. No fuel pump fails so quickly unless the pump has same situation. Dealer replaced pump but charged me for part and labor of their own bad job form July 2020. I was lucky that it failed while I was moving at a slow speed in a safe place

When my car got to the 80000 mile mark, my headlights became progressively dimmer. I have cleaned the lens, and replaced the bulbs 3 times in the last 3 months, and now they are so bad that I don't dare drive the car at night. I googled the problem and found a whole litany of Acura RDX owners who have experienced the same problem at the same time. see: https://www.carproblemzoo.com/acura/rdx/headlights-problems.php I have contacted Acura who acknowledge that they have replaced some of the 2015 RDX headlight issues, but only if the car was built in 2014. The 2014 RDX did experience a recall for the same, exact reason. However, when I checked my VIN, they say that it doesn't qualify for the recall. This is crazy. My car cannot be driven at night, and the estimated repair for a problem due to their shoddy design/workmanship is approx $1250 per headlight! Unacceptable. Rear windshield shattered while parked in my drive way. Vehicle was not being driven. I have read several reports of this happening to other Acura rdx. I have contacted the dealership and Acura who have both told me I need to pay out of pocket to get this fixed. This is an Acura problem and Acura was unable to help. I should not be responsible for getting this fixed as vehicle was in driveway when this happened. I have been without a vehicle since this happened on 12/24. I'm very unsatisfied with Acura.

The contact owns a 2015 Acura RDX. The contact stated that while driving at night, the low-beam headlights were dim. The contact had to utilize the high-beam headlights while driving. The contact called the local dealer but, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact that the reflectors inside the headlight housings were defective and that the headlight assemblies needed to be replaced. The contact stated he was concerned about driving the vehicle. The contact researched the failure and located several forums with similar complaints. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

12/20/21 Clear, 41 degree day, I got in my Acura RDX, closed the door and heard a very loud pop( I thought I had been shot at it was so loud). When I looked out my review window, I noticed the hole in the back windshield. The car was not on. I just closed the door. The whole back hatch windshield was shattered.

Low beam headlights are so dim I can’t safely drive at night.I have replaced bulbs with higher quality and brightness, but still very dim.Its like driving with parking light S on!Called the Acura dealership Crown Acura in Greensboro,N.C. and they said the reflector deteriorates on 2013-2015 models.Cost to replace both headlight fixtures 1500.00 my question is why Acura does not have a recall .This is a very dangerous situation.I searched my problem on the internet and found I am one of many with the same issue.Seams like after 70 to 80k miles they go pretty fast. The only way I can see to Drive is with high beam on.Thank You,Rick Bonkemeyer

Since I purchased my car in 2014 the headlights have dimmed tremendously. So much that my husband pulled the car to the side of the road the other night because he insisted the headlights were burnt out. I explained that they've been that way for a long time. We absolutely cannot drive my car at night because it's as if we have no headlights. I think this poses an extreme safety hazard.

The diminished light output of the low beam headlights began to diminish visibility so significantly that it was reported to the dealer at 89,000 miles, in March 2020. The dealer response was "normal operation of the headlights compared to other RDX." The driver's visibility is now decreased to the point the visibility is like only the lo output driving lights are on. Hi beams have to be used when driving at night. This reduced output decreased driver's visibility and increases the risk of a crash. Improper usage of high beams impacts oncoming vehicles, increasing the risk of a head on collision. I was driving on the Pennsylvania and Ohio turnpike last night for 5 hours in the rain and had to reduce speeds and drive with high beams on, causing a dangerous situation for myself and other drivers. I called Acura customer service and they indicated no recalls and no TSB. I referenced NHTSA Recall 14V323000 for Acura ILX, same issue, and they said NHTSA has not issued recalls on the 2014 RDX. Many driver threads report same issue.

11/6/21: Mid way home from a trip from Washington to Connecticut on the New Jersey turnpike in the left-hand lane the car lost all ability to accelerate. Concurrently the engine like came on and multiple warning signals came on regarding traction control, breaking, and steering. One can imagine how unsettling that could be but at that moment. Being in the left lane it was apparent I needed to get off the road. With cars traveling at 65+ mph and my car decelerating continuously changing lanes was nearly catastrophic and the last lane I needed to move over to nearly resulted in a multi car accident 11/8/2021 I was contacted by the service manager at the towed to acura dealer. They informed me that the evaluation determined a need for an “intercooler" This breakdown of my car with less than 20,000 miles on it was under warranty . More importantly, my understanding of this problem is that the car is engineered to power down under these circumstances to protect the engine and or transmission. I would have imagined that when a warning like comes on it would not result in an instantaneous power down action. Put quite simply it appears the car was more interested in protecting itself than the occupants. This is egregious. Acura has failed to address my concern or help now about 1 month out

On NOV 20th 2021 took the vehicle for Oil change, to Acura dealer. The service tech informed me the hood its not opening. The latch or cable its broken. The part its not in stock. I can't open the hood to check all necessary fluids, especially windshield washer fluid. I think its safety concern when I'm out of washer.

2019 RDX with 20k miles. Was accelerating to go over a rise from low speed to passing speed and power cut out and had to pull to shoulder. Was slightly raining when occurred and 44 degrees out. Check engine light came on. Had to stop vehicle on side of road as power was lost. If wasn’t 0600 in the morn and during busier hours it could’ve caused an accident since I was accelerating to merge. Dealer couldn’t find any codes since vehicle goes into essentially protection mode from just accelerating. Going from 15-55mph. Told me to bring it in again if it happens. I may be injured the next time it happens. Is extremely unsafe where all power is cut when you need it the most. Had vehicle for 1000 miles and has happened once already. Very scary feeling.
