MINI has introduced the Cooper Oxford Edition, a new special model designed to commemorate 25 years of modern MINI production at the Oxford plant in the UK. The first modern MINI vehicle was produced at this facility a quarter-century ago. This new edition highlights the brand's British heritage through specific design features.

The MINI Cooper Oxford Edition is available for both the Cooper C and Cooper S 3-door models, integrating iconic British design cues throughout the vehicle. This release marks a significant milestone for the brand, acknowledging its manufacturing roots in Oxford.

Distinctive Design and Features

The exterior of the MINI Cooper Oxford Edition features a white contrast roof adorned with a Union Jack graphic, providing a unique visual signature. A central red and white stripe, inspired by the flag, extends along the car's body, connecting the design elements. The edition is offered in three exterior paint finishes: Chili Red, Indigo Sunset Blue, and Blazing Blue, complemented by white mirror caps.

Further enhancing its appearance are 18-inch Slide Spoke 2-tone wheels, which contribute to the vehicle's stance. These wheels include edition-specific details on the hub and valve caps. The overall exterior design aims to reflect MINI's historical aesthetic while incorporating contemporary elements.

Inside, the Union Jack theme continues with a textured printed flag on the 6 o'clock element of the steering wheel. The floor mats also carry special designs; the driver's side features a circular Union Jack, while the passenger side displays a circular chequered flag, referencing MINI's racing history. Unique door sills complete the interior package, reminding occupants of the 25-year anniversary of modern MINI.

Heritage and Production Milestone

MINI Plant Oxford has been central to the brand's identity, serving as the production site for the classic Mini since 1959 and the modern MINI since 2001 under BMW Group. The introduction of the MINI Cooper Oxford Edition celebrates this continuous legacy and the plant's role as the spiritual home of MINI.

The special edition acknowledges the brand's history of personalization, a core aspect of MINI's appeal. It draws on a tradition of unique design concepts inspired by various cultures and lifestyles, as seen in previous editions like the MINI 60 Years Edition and the MINI Seven Edition. This approach allows for a balance between historical references and modern innovation.

Lifestyle Collection and Market Clarification

To complement the vehicle, MINI has also launched the Oxford Capsule, a collection of lifestyle products. This range includes items such as a MINI Traveller Bag, unisex T-shirts, a cap, stickers, and an umbrella walking stick, all designed with characteristic elements of the MINI Cooper Oxford Edition. The textiles are finished in dark blue, mirroring the optional Indigo Sunset Blue vehicle paintwork, with Union Jack-inspired details.

It is important to note that this new MINI Cooper Oxford Edition is a distinct global offering and is separate from the long-established Oxford Edition previously available in the US market. Despite the similar naming, the two products are unrelated. For the MINI Cooper C, WLTP combined fuel consumption is 6.5 l/100 km with CO2 emissions of 146 g/km (CO2 class: E). The MINI Cooper S has a WLTP combined fuel consumption of 6.7 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 150 g/km (CO2 class: E).

The MINI Cooper Oxford Edition serves as a tribute to the brand's manufacturing heritage and design philosophy, offering a unique option for enthusiasts looking to celebrate MINI's 25 years of modern production.
