2027 Lexus LX Arrives with New Features, Hybrid Options

Lexus has announced a series of enhancements for its 2027 LX flagship SUV, introducing new interior and exterior options alongside a starting manufacturer's suggested retail price of $109,050. These updates aim to refine the vehicle's styling and improve daily functionality for the upcoming model year, with models expected to arrive at dealerships later this year.

Key Enhancements for 2027

The 2027 Lexus LX receives several notable upgrades across its trim levels. The Premium grade now features darker finish 20-inch wheels, contributing to a more commanding visual presence. For the F SPORT Handling grade, standard red front and rear brake calipers enhance its athletic character, and a new Palomino interior color option provides a refined contrast to its sporty design.

Convenience features have also been improved. The Premium grade now includes a digital rearview mirror as standard equipment. Additionally, one-touch auto-arrange power-folding rear seats are now standard on both the F SPORT Handling and Overtrail grades, and available as an option on the Premium grade with the Interior Upgrade package. Powertrain and Platform Details

Both the 2027 LX 600 and LX 700h models are built on the GA-F platform, which was introduced in 2022. This design optimizes battery mounting while maintaining off-road departure angles.

The LX 700h features a hybrid powertrain with a nickel-metal hydride battery, combining a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine with a 10-speed Direct Shift Automatic Transmission. This system produces 457 net combined horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, achieving an EPA-estimated combined fuel economy rating of 20 MPG. The hybrid system includes an alternator and a starter, allowing for independent engine ignition and 12V auxiliary battery power in case of hybrid system issues. Both the LX 600 and LX 700h are rated to tow up to 8,000 pounds.

The LX 600 is powered by a 3.4-liter V6 twin-turbo gasoline engine (V35A-FTS) that delivers 409 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. This engine maintains maximum torque across a wide range, up to 3,600 rpm, which aids in both on-road and low-speed off-road driving. All LX models are equipped with a 10-speed Direct Shift Automatic Transmission, designed for smooth starts and responsive acceleration.

Off-Road and Driving Technologies

The 2027 Lexus LX models maintain their reputation for rugged capability with a suite of standard off-road and driving technologies. A Torsen® limited-slip locking center differential is standard on all LX models, distributing engine power evenly to enhance control in low-grip conditions. The Overtrail grade of the LX 700h further adds electronically controlled front and rear locking differentials for improved traction on challenging terrain.

Standard features across the LX lineup include Active Height Control (AHC) and Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), which work together to balance off-road performance with on-road stability. Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) offers various modes for optimized drive power, braking, and suspension control in different conditions, including Sand, Mud, Rock, and Deep Snow. The Multi-Terrain Monitor (MTM) provides enhanced visibility around and under the vehicle using a four-camera system when MTS is active.

Additional driving aids include Electric Power Steering (EPS) for varied steering feel, and an Electronically Controlled Brake (ECB) system for linear braking characteristics. Crawl Control, engaged in low range, manages engine output and hydraulic braking at five selectable low speeds, and Turn Assist tightens the turning circle. Downhill Assist Control helps maintain stable descent on steep slopes.
