Audi will be the first automotive manufacturer globally to integrate Spotify's complete native application directly into its vehicles. This integration, powered by Android Automotive OS, allows the Spotify app to operate through the vehicle's infotainment system independently, removing the necessity of a connected smartphone for streaming music and podcasts. The new functionality is scheduled to become available on October 21, 2026, for specific Audi models.

This development means that features such as music videos, real-time lyrics, and Spotify Jam will dynamically adjust their availability based on whether the vehicle is in motion or parked. The aim is to provide a comprehensive and safe entertainment experience tailored for the automotive environment.

Native Spotify App Integration

The native Spotify app is designed to run directly on Audi's infotainment system, leveraging Android Automotive OS. This approach differs from previous integrations that often relied on smartphone mirroring or template-based applications, offering a more deeply integrated and feature-rich experience. Users will find familiar Spotify menus and navigation patterns, optimized for in-vehicle use and multi-screen displays.

Key features available through the native app include music videos, real-time lyrics, Spotify Jam for collaborative listening sessions, and Spotify DJ. When the vehicle is parked, the full suite of features and expanded browsing options are accessible on the main MMI display. For vehicles equipped with a front passenger display, certain features like real-time lyrics and video content remain available for the passenger while the vehicle is in motion.

Availability and Supported Models

The native Spotify app will launch exclusively through the Audi Application Store starting October 21, 2026. It will initially be available for newer Audi models built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) and Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) architectures. This includes the 2026 Audi A6 e-tron and Audi Q6 e-tron, as well as the 2026 Audi A5, Audi Q5, and Audi A6.

Audi has also confirmed that the app will be available for the Audi Q7 and Audi Q9 SUVs upon their respective market launches. The service will be rolled out across 47 Audi markets worldwide, encompassing regions from Europe and North America to Asia, Africa, and Australia. While the app itself is free to download, a Spotify account is required for use, with subscription costs varying based on market and chosen Spotify plan.

Enhanced In-Car Experience

This native integration represents a significant step in enhancing the digital services offered within Audi vehicles. Unlike generic template-based apps, the native Spotify application provides a more comprehensive interface and supports a broader range of content, specifically adapted for driver safety and multi-screen environments. For instance, while driving, features like music videos and real-time lyrics are hidden from the main center MMI display, and sign-in or settings functions are restricted to minimize driver distraction.
