Acura Meyer Shank Racing concluded the Detroit Sports Car Classic on May 30, 2026, with both of its Acura ARX-06 prototypes securing top-10 positions. The #93 car, driven by Nick Yelloly and Renger van der Zande, finished fourth after starting third. Its sister car, the #60, piloted by Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun, recovered from an early race incident to cross the finish line in seventh place, contributing to Acura Detroit race results.

Performance of the #93 Acura ARX-06

The #93 Acura ARX-06 navigated the 100-minute 'super sprint' race on the streets of Downtown Detroit, avoiding significant contact. The team executed a single pit stop, a strategy that contributed to their fourth-place finish. This result also earned the #93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing team the IMSA Sustainability Award for the event.

The IMSA Sustainability Award evaluates a team's overall environmental performance in a single race. Factors considered include tire usage, energy consumption, and the final finishing position among the GTP entries. The #93 team's performance in the Detroit Sports Car Classic demonstrated a balance of speed and efficiency.

#60 Acura ARX-06 Overcomes Early Setback

The #60 Acura ARX-06 faced a more challenging race after Tom Blomqvist was involved in an incident with the #7 car on the opening lap. This contact resulted in damage that required the team to make repairs during the race. Despite the early setback, Blomqvist and co-driver Colin Braun were able to continue.

Through determined driving and effective pit work, the #60 car steadily climbed back through the field. Their recovery culminated in a seventh-place finish, securing valuable points for the team after an eventful Detroit Sports Car Classic. The team's ability to recover from a lap one incident highlighted their resilience.

Upcoming Race at Watkins Glen

The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship will transition back to endurance racing for its next event. The Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen is scheduled to take place from June 25-28 in Watkins Glen, New York. This longer format race will present a different set of strategic challenges for the Acura teams.

Both Acura Meyer Shank Racing teams will aim to build on their Detroit Sports Car Classic performances. The upcoming endurance event at Watkins Glen offers another opportunity to compete for podium finishes and further improve their standing in the championship. The Acura Detroit race results provide a foundation for future events.

Overall, Acura's performance in the Detroit Sports Car Classic demonstrated competitive speed and effective race management, despite one car encountering an early incident. The top-10 finishes for both ARX-06 entries, alongside the sustainability recognition, position the teams for continued efforts in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
