Symptoms

Owners of affected 2024-2025 Jeep Compass and Renegade vehicles may experience a noticeable Jeep Compass coolant leak. The primary symptom is "Coolant is leaking at the thermostatic valve." This leak indicates a potential issue with the thermostatic valve gasket, leading to a loss of engine coolant.

Scope and History

Diagnosis

If a Jeep Compass coolant leak is suspected, technicians will first verify if the customer's VIN is listed in VIP or the RSU VIN list. If a coolant leak from the thermostatic valve is confirmed, the repair procedure will be initiated. For vehicles not on the VIN list but exhibiting the symptom, a diagnostic procedure is performed.

The diagnostic steps involve:

  1. If equipped, removing the under engine protection cover. Detailed service procedures are available in DealerCONNECT/Service Library under Service Info> 7055B54 - Under Engine Protection - Removal/Replacement.
  2. Starting the vehicle and raising the coolant temperature to 90 °C (194 °F).
  3. Inspecting the thermostatic valve and its surrounding area for evidence of leaking coolant, as illustrated in Fig. 1 of the bulletin.
  4. Confirming if a coolant leak is present, as shown in Fig. 2. If a leak is found, the repair procedure is followed. If no leak is found, an Inspection Labor Operation (07-40-10-91) is used to close the active RSU, and the under engine protection cover is reinstalled.

Repair Procedure Summary

The repair for the Jeep Compass coolant leak due to a faulty thermostatic valve gasket involves a straightforward replacement. The primary step is to remove the existing thermostatic valve and replace the thermostatic valve gasket, as depicted in Fig. 3 of the bulletin. Technicians are directed to refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerCONNECT/Service Library under Service Info> 1088C40 - Thermostatic Valve - Removal/Replacement, which includes all necessary steps.
