Owners of affected vehicles may experience an "inoperable horn." This means the horn may not sound when activated, failing to perform its essential safety function.

Warranty Extension

Hyundai is extending the warranty coverage for the horn replacement due to this condition. The coverage is now valid for 10 years or 120,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the date of original retail delivery or first use. This extended warranty applies to both the original owner and any subsequent owners of the vehicle. Vehicles still within the original 5-year/60,000-mile warranty are also covered by this TSB.

Dealers and technicians should note that any incident parts are subject to callback through the normal Warranty Technical Center (WTC) parts return process. Claims are subject to debit if the part is not returned.

Repair Procedure Summary

The repair involves replacing both the high-pitch and low-pitch horn assemblies. Technicians must first refer to the shop manual for instructions on removing the front bumper assembly. Digital documentation, including photos of the original horn with the VIN and repair date, is required before and after the repair.

Once the bumper is removed, the old horn assemblies are replaced with new ones. It is crucial to install the new horns vertically, ensuring the bell holes face downward to prevent water intrusion. After the new horns are installed and connected to the external wiring, the front bumper cover is reinstalled according to shop manual procedures.

The TSB specifies new part numbers for the horn assemblies, which may include extension wiring and brackets depending on the specific Elantra model and production year. Here are the replacement part numbers:

• Low Pitch Horn Assembly: 96611-AA900QQH and 96621-AA900QQH (includes extension wiring and bracket attached).
• High Pitch Horn Assembly (for certain models): 96611-AA700QQH and 96621-AA700QQH (no extension wiring, bracket attached).
• High Pitch Horn Assembly (for 24-25MY Elantra N-Line, Elantra N): 96611-AA800QQH and 96621-AA800QQH (no extension wiring, bracket attached).
