Background and Purpose

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (AHM) is currently investigating the root cause of the "warning: shutter grille issue" and "charging system problem" error messages affecting certain 2023-2024 Honda CR-V models. To gain a comprehensive understanding of this condition, AHM is requesting to collect specific parts from affected vehicles. This collection process is crucial for their analysis and aims to prevent any repair attempts before the necessary parts can be acquired for study.

Qualifying Conditions for Part Collection

AHM is interested in collecting parts only from 2023-2024 Honda CR-V vehicles that meet a specific set of criteria. Your vehicle qualifies if it exhibits the "Honda CR-V shutter grille issue" and meets all of the following requirements:

• One of the following DTCs must be stored: P16E8 (PGM-FI-Shutter Grille LIN Communication Error) or P16E3 (PGM-FI-Battery Sensor LIN Communication Error).
• The shutter grille actuator coupler must not have been unplugged at any point.
• There has been no previous replacement of the Shutter Grille Assembly.
• The vehicle has not been involved in any collisions.
• No repair attempts have been made on the vehicle during the current visit to the dealership.

Important Warnings for Owners and Technicians

It is critical for both owners and dealership personnel to understand that AHM would like to collect specific parts from the vehicle prior to you attempting a repair of any kind. This can be done by emailing [email protected] or calling 800-880-1072 (Monday-Friday, 7 AM - 5 PM PST). TIS will then contact the dealership to gather specific vehicle information and provide further instructions regarding part collection.

Dealerships are required to include the following information in their email to TIS:
