The manufacturer has confirmed the recall and that a remedy is not yet available. The vehicle has been at a Toyota dealership and out of service for an extended period while waiting for a repair solution. The dealer has confirmed that no repair can currently be performed because Toyota has not released a remedy. This defect creates a safety concern because a front axle shaft failure could result in loss of drive power and potential loss of vehicle control while driving. The problem has been confirmed by the dealership and manufacturer through the active safety recall notice. No warning lights or prior symptoms were observed before the recall notification. The 2016-2022 White double cab Toyota Tacomas have a known paint flaking/peeling issue. On 2/1/2026 while drying my truck after its wash, on the driver’s rear door by the window rubber trim my paint was flaking off. On 2/2/26 I spoke with an agent at Toyota Corporation (but she was on the Lexus side) about my issue and was told my VIN was not part of the Customer Support Program 23TE08 and she didn’t know of Tacomas paint failure. On 2/3/26 I spoke with another agent at Toyota Corporation (this time Toyota side) about my issue and she knew about the paint issue but told me that my VIN was not part of that program. I told her that my paint flaking/peeling issue was the same issue that Toyota was having on their 2016-2022 and mine is a 2022 Tacoma. The Location of my paint flaking/peeling issue the same place where other white Tacomas were experiencing the same problem. It’s a know problem and Toyota needs to fix my paint issue but they seem to not want to extend to include my VIN. I’m frustrated with the fact that my truck only has 35,132 miles at the time of me writing this complaint and spent well over $45,000 for a truck that’s 4 years old for the paint to fail.

POWER TRAIN
Driving up the 15 freeway from Diamond bar CA to Victorville CA the car gave me a warning that the transmission is overheating and to pull over to cool it down keep in mind I was on a paved freeway with no trailer and nothing in the bed of the truck so no unusual weight so with the car being brand new (only 1500 miles) I played it safe and pulled to the side of the freeway for about 15 minutes to allow for cooling then the sign went away and it was driving normal. A few days later I took the car into the shop for transmission, hard shift issue and I had them look at the overheating as well and they found an overheating was caused from “harsh acceleration” i’ve had many cars and no car has ever had a transmission overheating light come on unless if I was on the track or off roading I went up to Victorville again the following weekend and the overheating light came on again but the dealership is saying it’s normal but going up a paid freeway and having to stop on the side of the road to let the transmission cool down is not safe

AIR BAGS, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE
The contact owned a 2025 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH, a Semi Truck attempting to merge onto the highway crashed into the passenger side of the vehicle, causing the driver to lose control of the steering and cross three lanes of traffic before crashing into the concrete median. During the crash, no air bags in the vehicle deployed, the collision avoidance systems did not operate, and twelve error messages were activated, including a brake error, a Four Wheel Drive error, and an ABS error. The driver sustained a concussion from the head contacting the steering wheel and lacerations from shards of glass entering the vehicle during the crash. The front seat passenger sustained lacerations to the legs and arms, the rear driver side passenger sustained fractured ribs and lacerations to the arms leg, and face. The rear passenger side occupant sustained lacerations to the arms and legs. All occupants in the vehicle were transported to the hospital with injuries, along with the semi-truck driver. No further information was available. A Police report was taken, and the vehicle was towed away. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the incident. A representative from the manufacturer was sent to inspect the vehicle and deemed no failure had occurred. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was 4,000.

I am requesting executive-level review and assistance regarding a documented paint failure on my 2022 Toyota Tacoma, finished in paint code 040 (Super White). Toyota has informed me that my VIN is not included in Customer Support Program #XXX. However, this determination does not align with the physical condition of my vehicle, which exhibits the same defect described in that program. The paint on the upper door frame surrounding the driver’s side rear cab window is actively peeling, with bare metal exposed. This is not cosmetic wear, environmental damage, or owner neglect. It is a manufacturing paint failure, occurring in a non-wear area and consistent with issues documented on other 2022 Tacoma vehicles with Super White paint. Exposed metal presents legitimate concerns regarding corrosion, long-term durability, and diminished resale value—none of which should occur on a vehicle of this age. Toyota’s reputation for quality is the reason I purchased this truck, and this experience has been both disappointing and frustrating. I am requesting that Toyota acknowledge the defect based on physical evidence, not solely VIN eligibility criteria, and provide a fair resolution, including inspection and repair or repainting of the affected area. When the radar becomes covered with ice and snow, the truck continuously spawns alerts for each Safety Sense feature that is disabled, including a pop up the occludes the instrument cluster and can not be dismissed. Multiple warnings interfere with focus in poor conditions and create more of a safety hazard due to driver distraction.

The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Tacoma. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V058000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact stated that while her son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed but traveled down to the floorboard. The brake warning light blinked, and the message to “Pull Over to a Safe Area” was displayed. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road. The contact stated that brake fluid had leaked from the vehicle. The driver was able to drive back to the residence. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed andit was determined that there was a hairline crack visible, and that the clip on the brake line was missing a bolt. However, the dealer informed the driver that the failure had occurred due to the oversize tires installed on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was towed back to the residence. The vehicle remained at the house unrepaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 58,000.

The spare tire hoist on Tacomas was over tighten at the factory, when I had a flat, used the kit tool to try to lower spare tire, the weak metal failed, unable to lower tire. Took vehicle to Stapp Toyota, they knew all about the problem, they loosen hoist, but would not cover the tool kit under warranty. They wanted me to pay around 300.00 for a new kit. When I got home to try the hoist, I found they had taken my old damaged too kit and replaced it with another damaged. tool kit , not useable. I tired to speak to management at Stapp Toyota, no wants to talk about it. Think about all the Tacomas that have the same problems X 300 dollars = a lot of money. This is a scam someone dreamed up and is working quite well.

Multiple authorized dealers have refused to perform the repair, claiming that parts are unavailable. This defect prevents me from obtaining commercial insurance and fully utilizing the vehicle for my business needs, as a non-functional speedometer is a major safety hazard. Right Front Seat cushion appears to be collapsed / defective. Was present at 29 miles. Dealer looked at it, and dismissed it as not there problem. Started a case with toyota North America, and they're refusing to acknowledge any problem. The passenger seat is noticeably collapsed compared to drivers seat. I have since parked the vehicle as I feel it is unsafe to drive. I bought this truck new the week of Thanksgiving 2025. I fear that the seat may structurally fail during an accident, thus injuring any passenger in that seat.

ENGINE
Deep knocking noise they call the taco tick is actually the a problem with the motor. There is an issue valve train and timing chain, tensioners and pulleys. Toyota USA decide to tell all consumers it’s just the way they sound. So they do not have to repair millions of these trucks on recall they refuse to repair under manufacture warranty or power train warranty they wait until it becomes the consumers problem

I had 8022 miles on my tacoma , toyota employee of almost a decade , drove like normal no adds , one morning drove to a conference and was on the road no more than 20 min and then I see the bed of my truck on fire , im on the interstate so i pull over quickly and call 911 and then it just burnt up and gone. Now a year later and toyota refuses to assist with anything saying they cant find out despite the insurance companies ruling me out and fowl play out. I feel strongly toyota has an obligation to make this right.

The contact stated that two weeks after the vehicle was inspected and passed the inspection, while driving at an undisclosed speed and depressing the brake pedal to stop at a stop sign, the vehicle failed to stop and slid past the stop sign. The contact pulled over to inspect the vehicle and saw that the steel belts were protruding from the tires. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, and the contact was informed that the vehicle should not have passed the inspection with the tires currently on the vehicle. Additionally, the contact was informed that there was a recall on the vehicle for the back-over prevention camera screen. The contact stated that the back-over prevention screen frequently went blank. The dealer was contacted, and the contact was informed that there was no remedy yet for the recall repair. The vehicle had been taken to the dealer approximately 22 times for three separate failures, but could not be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures, and the contact requested a buyback of the vehicle; however, the buyback was declined by the manufacturer. The failure mileage was unknown.

2024 Toyota Tacoma TRD Hybrid. When trying to use 4HI/4LO the vehicle gets stuck in 4LO with the 4LO/4HI lights flashing. This means the vehicle has no idea what the state of the transmission is. It does not allow getting back to 2HI. In the state the vehicle is not drivable. It happens when offroading in the middle of no where. Toyota requires the vehicle to be towed to a dealer. We had this problem 2 weeks ago. The vehicle was towed to Stevenson Toyota in St George UT. They acknowledge it is a Toyota problem. They kept it for 10 days said they had 15 parts to fix it. We picked it up. Tried to get into 4LO the next day the problem happened again and needed to be towed. Both ChatGPT and Gemini state this a known problem but Toyota has not issued a recall on it. That is not safe because an owner can be disabled in the middle of no-where. This vehicle is advertised as off road.
