The door handle mechanism which is made of plastic broke on the inside of the door. It was the piece the cable connects to which pulls to release the door latch for opening. Only way to get out of door is to roll window down and open from outside the vehicle. Truck has 7k miles currently and no heavy use. Under proper circumstances this could be very dangerous.

My 2025 Toyota Tacoma SR5 has an ongoing issue where Apple CarPlay frequently disconnects or fails to connect altogether. This happens both at startup and randomly while driving. The problem occurs across multiple iPhones, different cables, and even after ensuring that both the phone and the truck’s software are updated. Many other 4th-generation Tacoma owners (2024–2025) are reporting the same issue online — CarPlay will drop connection, the system freezes, or CarPlay will not appear as an available input for long periods. Because CarPlay is a key part of the hands-free system for navigation, calls, and messaging, these disconnections cause drivers to interact manually with their phones, which creates a potential safety hazard. Toyota dealerships acknowledge the problem but currently have no permanent fix. It appears to be a system-wide defect in the Audio Multimedia 6.0 system used in the new Tacomas. I’m submitting this report so NHTSA can investigate and, if appropriate, prompt Toyota to issue a software or hardware recall to address the defect.

Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2018 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that upon retrieving the Carfax report after purchasing the vehicle, it was discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy, and the vehicle seller was not the title holder. The vehicle was a private sale. At the time of purchase, the vehicle mileage was 32,000, and the contact later discovered that the mileage was over 200,000 through the Carfax report.

See attached document for complaint. I am writing to formally notify you of a serious unresolved safety issue regarding my leased 2024 Toyota Tacoma (VIN: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX), currently subject to the official safety recall (NHTSA Recall No. 25V-058 / Toyota Recall No. 24TA04 - Interim Notice 25TB04). Despite repeated attempts to schedule the recall service with Toyota of Orlando, no effective remedy ha been provided to date. The recall documentation clearly states that the defect can cause brake fluid leakage and a potential loss of braking ability, significantly increasing the risk of crash. As a parent of a XXXXXXXXXXt, I cannot safely operate this vehicle under such circumstances. The inability of Toyota to resolve this urgent safety defect in a timely manner not only violates consumer trust but also places my family at unacceptable risk. Therefore: I. I demand immediate confirmation of when and how the recall repair will be completed. 2. If Toyota i unable or unwilling to promptly resolve this issue, I will be forced to escalate the matter through legal counsel, including seeking termination of my lease contract without penalty. 3. I am also notifying all relevant government agencies. including NHTSA of Toyota's failure to provide a timely and safe resolution. Attached are copies of the recall notice, service invoices, and related communications for your record . I expect a written response within 10 business days from the receipt of this letter.

Water leaked through the third brake light assembly into the cab roof, soaking the ceiling, seats, and carpet. This caused extensive mold growth and electrical corrosion near the control modules. The affected systems include the third brake light seal, cab roof, interior materials, and ECM (documentation attached). The truck remains at the dealer and is available for inspection upon request. The entire interior is contaminated with mold, creating a serious health hazard, and the vehicle cannot be safely driven or occupied. The leak also damaged electrical components, posing a risk of malfunction or short-circuit while operating the vehicle, and it is currently undrivable due to this damage. The problem was confirmed by Toyota of Clermont, which inspected the truck, documented the damage, and provided a written estimate exceeding $8,000 for repairs (copy attached). The vehicle was at the dealership while the manufacturer’s Limited Service Campaign 21TD03—issued to address this same defect—was still active, but the required inspection and seal repair were not performed. The failure of Toyota of Clermont to perform the mandated remedy under Campaign 21TD03 while the vehicle was in its possession resulted in a serious safety hazard. The entire interior of the cab—including the seats, ceiling, and carpet—is covered in mold, and the vehicle is undrivable due to water intrusion and electrical damage. There were no warning lamps or error messages before the failure, only a strong musty smell inside the cab shortly before the leak became visible. Toyota Motor North America was notified but declined responsibility. This case represents a potential noncompliance with federal defect-remedy obligations under the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act (49 U.S.C. § 30120) and should be investigated as such.

- #11690804October 1, 2025FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
The fuel pump as stopped working the vehicle will not start and the 4x4 is showing that it is not working. The vehicle is available for inspection. Thankfully this happened while the vehicle was sitting over night but we had driven it the evening before it just stopped running. the Fuel system could have failed while we were driving anywhere. It has not been inspected by anyone else. it is sitting in our driveway and my husband has done a lot of trouble shooting as to what could be wrong and all arrows point to the fuel pump. there have been no check engine light or nothing this came out of nowhere.

Multimedia audio system in Toyota vehicles does not mute music being played when using Car Play to read text messages as it was designed by Apple. This causes the driver to have to mess with the audio button and turn off the music while driving when listening to or replying to a text message. Hands free integration of a cellphone working in a vehicle as designed by the cellphone manufacturer should be required by the vehicle manufacturer if they state it is a feature when purchasing one of their vehicles. Reports to the vehicle manufacture about this flaw have been disregarded and they state it is working as designed. Reports to the cellphone manufacturer state that it is not working as they intend it to, but vehicle manufacturer refuses to fix it.

The rear cabin pressure vent leaks water into the cabin creating an unsafe vehicle to drive during rainy days. I took the vehicle to Sarasota Toyota and was told that my claim to get it fixed thru the Toyota warranty was denied because it is considered trim. I contacted the warranty company and Toyota about this issue but was told the same.NOT COVERED. I am also concerned that the water intrusion can affect the safety and health hazard of more drivers with this problem if not addressed by Toyota as soon as possible.

The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Tacoma. The contact stated that while his wife was entering the vehicle on the passenger’s side, the sidestep was stepped on, and there was an abnormal crunching sound coming from the step. The contact went to the passenger’s side front door and yanked on the sidestep, which caused the sidestep to almost separate from the sub frame. The contact looked underneath the vehicle and observed severe corrosion extending the length of the passenger’s and driver's side. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic due to the extent of the corrosion. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 173,807.

The frame on my 2010 Toyota Tacoma has developed severe perforation and rust-through. There are large holes in the frame, and the exhaust hanger has broken completely off the frame rail. The corrosion is spreading across multiple points, making the vehicle unsafe and at risk of structural failure while driving. I purchased the truck in May 2020 and brought it to a Toyota dealer for a paid multi-point inspection that included the undercarriage. At that time, Toyota’s ZH6 frame corrosion program was still active. No frame concerns were reported, and the program was never disclosed to me. Toyota has since denied assistance, even though the condition now represents a clear safety hazard. This frame corrosion is not cosmetic. It is structural and has already caused parts of the vehicle to detach.
