The panoramic sunroof gets stuck in the open position and also the motor makes a clicking sound. It is not opened all the way hardly at all, maybe 5 times a year if that. The problem is all over the internet and the dealerships routinely denies any knowledge of it and wants anywhere from 7k to more to fix the entire roof. This is very unprofessional and should not be swept under the rug. Reports of cheap bolts and screws also show a lack of concern for owner safety and usage.

The contact owns a 2013 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dealer had replaced the battery four times within 8 years, and the water pump and the alternator had been replaced within 18 months. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle shuddered, hesitated, and failed to respond as needed, and lost automotive power while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact related the failure to the Toyota Warranty Enhancement Program Number: ZE5. The vehicle was taken to a dealer; however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under warranty because the program had expired. The failure mileage was approximately 57,000.

- #11726682March 24, 2026VISIBILITY:SUN/MOON ROOF ASSEMBLY
I own a 2018 Toyota Camry XSE with a sunroof that is currently stuvck in tilt/ open position and will not close. Multiple independent mechanics have refused to attempt repair due to the high likelihood of the glass or mechanism breaking, and have advised that only Toyota dealership should handle the issue due to liability concerns. This appears to be a common issue reported by other Toyota Camry owners with similar model years, suggesting a potential defect in the sunroof mechanism or design. The failure creates a safety concern because the vehicle is exposed to water intrusion, which can lead to electrical damage, mold, and reduced visibility while driving in rain. Additionally, the inability to secure the sunroof compromises the structural integrity and safety of the vehicle. The estimated repair cost exceeds $8,500 for parts alone, which is unreasonable for a sunroof failure and suggests a larger design issue rather than normal wear and tear. I am requesting that this issue be investigated as a potential defect and that Toyota be held responsible if a pattern is confirmed.

I bought this car a couple of years ago. I didnt think much of it because I never owned a Toyota. I noticed that the transmission was doing some weird hesitation when going from 1st to 2nd gear. There is an intermittent lag on when the transmission kicks in. You can actually feel the car stutter into the 1st and 2nd gear. Also, while driving on the highway at a steady pace, the transmission has a delayed gear that kicks in out of nowhere. It feels like it goes up a gear without accelerating. It feels like a gear is catching up to where it is supposed to be. I plan on having the transmission looked at by the Toyota dealer.

- #11726303March 23, 2026FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, STEERING
The contact owns a 2026 Toyota Camry Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving at 10-15 MPH, the contact attempted to activate the cruise control mode system for the first time since purchasing the vehicle. The system failed to activate, and a message indicating that the cruise control was not activated was displayed. The contact attempted to activate the system a second time, and the vehicle significantly accelerated, the steering wheel and brake pedal locked up, causing the vehicle to crash through the garage door of a house and into an unoccupied parked vehicle. The air bags deployed. The vehicle automatically connected to Toyota Safety Connect, and the contact requested the assistance of police officers. There was property damage. The garage door, the front, and the rear end of the other vehicle were damaged. The contact sustained abrasion on the right arm from the air bag, and abrasion on the lower left leg. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an unknown location. The vehicle was then towed to a collision repair shop, where it was totaled by the insurance company. The vehicle was then towed to Coparts. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was filed. The insurance company had given the manufacturer authorization to access the Event Data Recorder (EDR). The failure mileage was approximately 6,000.

- #11726515March 23, 2026POWER TRAIN, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ENGINE
On March 19, 2026, I was driving to work when traffic began to slow, and I reduced my speed accordingly. As traffic started to return to normal speed, I pressed the accelerator; however, although the engine revved, the vehicle did not accelerate beyond approximately 15 mph. I safely moved to the side of the road and turned the car off. After restarting the vehicle, shifting into drive, and pressing the accelerator, the same issue occurred. I subsequently took the car to two separate mechanics, both of whom reported that the transmission needs to be replaced. This is unexpected, as the vehicle has fewer than 100,000 miles and has received regular maintenance.

- #11725828March 20, 2026STRUCTURE:INTERIOR PANELS:DASHBOARD
My 2007 Toyota Camry has a severely melted and sticky dashboard, a known manufacturing defect (Program ZE6). The surface has become highly reflective, creating a blinding sun glare on the windshield that significantly obstructs my visibility while driving, posing an immediate safety hazard. Additionally, the melting material releases pungent chemical fumes (VOCs) in the cabin, causing respiratory discomfort and health concerns. Despite being a documented safety defect, Toyota refused a goodwill repair because the initial warranty program has expired. A safety defect that impairs driver vision should not have an expiration date.

My steering was tight on my 2018 Toyota Camry. I started to have difficulty steering my car. After a day, I could not steer the car at all. I took it to my mechanic at Exxon, and when he ordered a new steering intermediate shaft assembly, he found a defect in the one Toyota sent him. I discovered that this serious and unsafe issue arose with other 2018 Toyota Camrys.

The Air Bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sought medical attention for left arm, neck, and hip pain. The contact managed to pull over to the shoulder of the road, whereupon further inspection, the rear passenger tire was damaged during the impact. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard, where it remains for further investigation. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000.
