AIR BAGS
My sons who is a new driver and has a 2008 Pontiac torrent recently has had the passenger air bag light come on saying passenger airbag off when someone is sitting in the seat so I brought it in and was told that it could possibly be fixed but it’s not a guarantee that it will fix the problem and it will cost over $2500 for a maybe it’ll fix it and they had also indicated that if he was to get in a crash, the airbags will not go off because of this

Electrical problems have been occurring. My lights keep getting dim, then bright. Check engine light is on, the truck is making a loud noise, overheating, battery draining fast. Please note that the battery is new, starter is new, water pump is new , I got new engine fans, radiator and the truck is still running hot, battery dies over night. I need some help this is my only vehicle and I've spent thousands of dollars trying to get this truck right over the years. Are there any affordable warranty plans available for assistance?

The contact owns a 2008 Pontiac Torrent. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle was vibrating excessively. The ABS warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the rear sub frame had an excessive amount of rust. The vehicle was not repaired due to the rear wheel assembly detaching from the excessive amount of rust. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle remained at the residence and had not been driven since the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 165,000.

The passenger air bag indicator light indicates passenger air bag is OFF even when an adult is sitting in the seat. Therefore. I am afraid that if the vehicle were in an accident where airbags would deploy, the front right passenger airbag would not inflate. There is a recall on the sensors for the front right passenger airbag for my vehicle make model and year but according to my VIN my vehicle is not part of that recall. I suspect it should be.

My car says service stabilitrak and my traction control light is still on whether I hit the button or not I just spent a grand for it to be fixed and it I’m still having the same issue my brakes will lock up or my wheel locks up uncontrollably I have almost gotten into numerous accidents because of it.

Upon inspection, it was discovered that a crack was present on the top of the fuel tank causing fuel to leak onto the ground. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The local dealer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 198,000.

STEERING
Steering gone out while driving times 3 with 2 replacements and now in shop for 3rd replacement. Nearly hit a lady. Time before, I nearly went over an embankment. Steering column has been entirely replaced twice. The electric steering motor has also been replaced 2 to 3 times as well. Numerous times have lost the ability to steer when in a curve but then later corrected itself and continued driving. ABS light is on most of the time and yes it has been looked at numerous times. Stabilitrac light is on and again, yes, this has been looked at numerous times. Traction control light is also on again. Seat belt sensor light is on and has been for a long time. Now, I really cannot afford repairs once again for something that needs a recall. I have read hundreds of other people also making these same reports in NHTSA comments. Please, people are going to get killed if not already. Now, I also see that these steering columns are being sent back to the manufacturer and the same defective modules are being replaced and then sent back out to replace another vehicles defective part while charging the customer full price yet again. A repairman stated to me that the defective part was being replaced with another defective part and was really useless repairs. Will you please buy this lemon back from me. It has nearly costed me and my families life numerous times plus others. Please recall these parts. Please make it possible for me to get a different vehicle. This started in less than a year from the purchase of the new vehicle when we had the first steering column replaced. Would you want your spouse or child driving these vehicles?

Service air bag light continually goes on and of randomly, at times does not recognize when someone is sitting in the passenger seat. This is a serious problem because when air bag light is on it disables the air bags which won’t deploy in a crash. I found that they recall the 2007 models for this exact problem, Now is the time to recall the 2008 for the exact same problem. This is a dealer only part which they gave me an estimate to fix of $900 if I could get a aftermarket part I would replace myself. Come on Gm recall this ongoing serious safety hazard!!!!

The contact's friend owed a 2008 Pontiac Torrent. The contact stated while the owner was driving at an unknown speed when he fell asleep and rear-ended a semi-truck. The contact was seated at the front passenger side and the air bag did not deploy but the front driver side air bag did deploy. The contact stated the driver had a laceration on his right arm and she had lacerations on the top right forehead, lip, and right nostril. The contact stated they both sought medical attention and she was needing cosmetic surgery for her nose. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact stated she the insurance deemed the vehicle a total loss. The vehicle was towed to an unknown location. The vehicle was not diagnosed. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the power steering failed to operate as designed, the brakes seized, and the vehicle lost motive power with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact poured water onto the onboard computer, located on top of the engine to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic installed a new onboard computer however, the new onboard computer failed to operate without the service code required. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the vehicle needed to be serviced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 111,500. The VIN was unavailable.

VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. JUMPED BATTERY TO GET STARTED. STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN. SHUT OFF AFTER LETTING RUN TO CHARGE BATTERY. SHUIT OFF. VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART AND THE KEY CANNOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED. THE LAST TIME THE POWER STEERING MOTOR CONTROL AND THE STABILITY CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. ALL THIS WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE. VEHICLE HAS 26000 MILES ON IT.

DASH INDICATOR FOR PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAG, WHICH I BELIEVE AFFECTS ALL AIRBAGS IN THIS VEHICLE, 2007 PONTIAC TORRENT, TURNS ON WHEN VEHICLE IS STARTED. I CALLED LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE REPAIR WAS DONE SHORTLY AFTER IT WAS ISSUED. REGARDLESS OF THAT FACT THE SENSOR HAS FAILED AGAIN AND IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER OF THIS SENSOR ULTIMATELY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT, THE SELLING DEALER SHOULD ASSUME THAT RESPONSIBILITY.PLEASE ADVISE OF MY RIGHTS IN THIS MATTER.

I'M DRIVING RED TRAFFIC LIGHT AND I PRESS MY BRAKES TO STOP , AND TURN ON MY LEFT TURN SIGNAL LIGHT. I NOTICED THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURN GREEN SO I ACCELERATE AND TURN LEFT. WHILE ACCELERATE GENTLY I'M TURNING LEFT I REALIZED MY LEFT TIRE FELT STUCK AND I HEARD AND LITTLE WEIRD NOISE. I PROCEED DRIVING STRAIGHT I PRESS THE BRAKES BECAUSE THERE WAS VEHICLE ENTERING BY TURNING RIGHT AND DRIVING STRAIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKESI CONTINUE DRIVING PRESSING THE GAS PETAL ACCELERATING TO 5 SPEED MY VEHICLE SLOW DOWN . I DECIDED TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE JUST DROVE VERY SLOW. I DECIDED TO MAKE A QUICK RIGHT ON THE APPROACHING STREET WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE STOP IT JUST FROZE. I WENT AHEAD AND LOOK AT THE DASHBOARD AND SEE AN CODE THAT'S SAYS STABILIZE TRAC AND OTHER CODES . I PARK THE VEHICLE AND TOOK THE KEYS OF THE KEY IGNITION AND INSERT THE KEYS BACK TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD STARTED SO , I DECIDED TO PARK THE CAR WHEN I DID PARK THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE END UP TURNING OFF . I WASN'T ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE ON. THE VEHICLE JUST WOULDN'T START ON. THERE IS A CODE STATING A STABILITY TRAK CODE ON THE DASHBOARD AND SOMETHING ABOUT THE BATTERY. I WAS VERY CONCERN BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER THAT'S 2YEARS OLD AND 11 MONTHS WAS WITH ME AND I HAD TO THINK FAST AND BE CAUTIOUS. I ENDS UP TOWING MY VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC.
