SummaryContinuously Variable Transmission (CVT) Replacement Dealer Announcement: Nissan is conducting a dealer inventory quality action to replace the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) on nine (9) 2020 Nissan Kicks vehicles and two (2) 2020 Versa vehicles identified in Service Comm. Due to a manufacturing issue that has since been corrected, Nissan has determined that the installed CVT in the subject vehicles may not meet specification. Affected vehicles are subject to stop sale and are either currently in dealer inventory or assigned and in transit to the dealer. What Dealers Should Do: PLEASE FOLLOW THE ATTACHED REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS: 1.Verify if vehicles are affected by this quality action using Service Comm or DBS National Service History â Open Campaign I.D. PM963 â¢New vehicles in dealer inventory can also be identified by using DBS (Sales-> Vehicle Inventory, and filter by Open Campaign). ï§Refer to NPSB 15-460 for additional information â¢Some vehicles may still be in transit. Please continue to check newly arriving inventory for QA Hold applicability. 2.Please do not drive, sell, loan, or trade the specific vehicles in Dealer Inventory subject to this Quality Action. â¢If an affected vehicle was previously traded, this information should be forwarded to the new dealer. 3.Use the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to replace the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) prior to offering the vehicle for sale. â¢Parts will be orderable via normal ordering process beginning the first week of December. NOTE: Parts replaced under this campaign activity will be collected. Parts requested are VIN and repair order specific. It is important for dealers to return parts applicable to the VIN and repair order identified.

Summary2018-2019 SENTRA, VERSA SEDAN, AND VERSA NOTE; ENHANCED DIAGNOSTIC LOGIC FOR CVT IF YOU CONFIRM The customer reports a transmission judder (shake, shudder, single or multiple bumps or vibration), hesitation on acceleration, lack of power, or RPM flare. NOTE: ï· A new diagnostic logic has been established to enhance the diagnostic process by storing a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) on Applied Vehicles. ï New DTCs: P17F0, P17F1, P17F2, P17F3, P17F4 will not turn the MIL ON. ï New DTC P0868 will turn the MIL ON. ï· This new diagnostic logic will monitor conditions in the CVT while the customer is operating their vehicle in their usual daily drive patterns. ï· If any of the above DTCs are stored, refer to NTB20-035 (Sentra) or NTB20-036 (Versa Sedan and Versa Note) for repair information. ACTION 1. Confirm the current TCM part number. 2. Reprogram the TCM, if applicable

SummaryCVT Warranty Extension In an effort to assure customer satisfaction, demonstrate our confidence in continuously variable transmissions (CVTs), and to address customer concerns including those expressed by customers in the class actions, Nissan will extend the warranty coverage on the CVT. The warranty extension includes the CVT assembly and internal CVT components, gaskets, and seals, CVT control valve body, torque converter, cooler kit (if applicable) and reprogramming of the Transmission Control Module (TCM), on the vehicles listed in this announcement from its original duration of 60 months/60,000 miles to 84 months/84,000 miles (whichever occurs first). The extension also includes rental while CVT repairs or replacements are completed. Coverage of other vehicle components remains unchanged, and all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of Nissanâs New Vehicle Limited Warranty continue to apply. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. If an owner contacts a dealer with a CVT concern in an owned or leased vehicle, verify warranty coverage for the specific VIN and then inform the customer of any diagnostic charges. NOTE: Some owners may have opted out of the warranty extension as part of the class action settlements, thus it is important to check the VIN for each vehicle to verify coverage. 2. Use the appropriate Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) and/or Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to diagnose the root cause of the customer concern and identify the correct repair to resolve the customer concerns. NOTE: Dealers will need to follow the warranty process and obtain pre-approval from the Powertrain Call Center (800-973-9992, option 2) for any vehicles requiring CVT replacements when the replacement cost exceeds a Dealerâs Claims Administration/Authorization Limits (DCAL). Control valves and CVT belt and pulley kits do not require pre-authorization for repairs made under warranty.

Nissan recommends CVT assembly replacement be offered whenever diagnostics have led a dealer to determine a belt and pulley sub assembly repair will resolve a customerâs concern and the vehicle time in service or mileage is equal to or greater than 84 months in service or 84,000 miles. This recommendation provides longer-term durability for customer satisfaction. Customers required to pay out-of-pocket for these repairs may still choose belt and pulley sub assembly repair in lieu of CVT unit replacement if they prefer that option. Note: This recommendation only applies to belt and pulley sub assembly repairs. Do not recommend CVT unit replacement when the diagnosis is for software updates or control valves.

Coverage of other vehicle components remains unchanged, and all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of Nissanâs New Vehicle Limited Warranty continue to apply. What You Should Do This extended warranty coverage is effective immediately. You do not need to take any further action. The Sentra with the Vehicle Identification Number listed at the top of this page is covered by this extended CVT warranty. If you seek coverage for a repair under this extended warranty, you will need to bring your vehicle to an authorized Nissan dealer.
