  Electronic Steering Column Lock (ESCL) Voluntary Service Campaign ***** Campaign Summary***** Nissan is conducting a voluntary service campaign on specific MY2009-10 Nissan Altima (L32), Altima Coupe (CL32), Altima Hybrid (L32H), and Maxima (A35) vehicles to replace the existing ESCL with an Electronic Steering Column Box (ESCB). The ESCL locks the steering wheel when the vehicle is parked and turned off to help prevent theft. On some vehicles, due to a manufacturing regularity, the ESCL may malfunction after the vehicle is locked and could prevent the engine from starting. This condition, should it occur, will only occur when attempting to start the vehicle, and not while driving. The ESCB will replace the ESCL assembly, but will no longer lock the steering wheel when the vehicle is parked and turned off. The steering wheel locking function is not necessary as the vehicle is also equipped with an anti-theft immobilizer to help prevent theft. Installation of the ESCB will eliminate the possibility of a no-start condition related to the manufacturing irregularity on the ESCL. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Service Campaign using Service Comm I.D. PC516. 2. Dealers are requested to repair any affected vehicles in dealer new or pre-owned inventory to ensure customer satisfaction. 3. Dealers should use NTB17-018 to correct any vehicles subject to this campaign. 4. Once repaired, dealers should submit the claim, using the claims coding provided, and release the vehicle.

  VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN 2009 ? 2010 MAXIMA AND ALTIMA ELECTRONIC STEERING COLUMN LOCK INTRODUCTION Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign to replace the Electronic Steering Column Lock (Steering Lock Unit) on certain specific 2009 ? 2010 model year Maxima and Altima vehicles. This issue does not affect steering or engine operation when the vehicle is already running. This service will be performed at no charge to the customer for parts or labor. NOTE: - After completing this campaign, the steering column will not lock when the ignition is OFF, as it did before. - The new steering lock unit does not have a column lock function. IDENTIFICATION NUMBER Nissan has assigned identification number PC516 to this campaign. This number must appear on all communications and documentation of any nature dealing with this campaign. DEALER RESPONSIBILITY Dealers are to repair vehicles falling within range of this campaign that enter the service department. This includes vehicles purchased from private parties, vehicles presented by transient (tourists) owners, and vehicles in a dealer?s inventory.

  BLUETOOTH, USB, AND AUX FUNCTION DIAGNOSTIC TOOL SERVICE INFORMATION The Enhanced Multi-Media Interface Tester (EMMIT) J-51922 is a new special tool that tests the functionality of the following features: Bluetooth o Pairing/Connecting o Phonebook Access Profile o Hands Free Profile (for calls) o Bluetooth Audio test o Message Access Profile (for text messages, if so equipped) USB o Tests USB music playback o Tests USB music browsing capability AUX o Tests AUX Jack playback Use EMMIT to diagnose symptoms related to Bluetooth, USB, and AUX. If EMMIT passes diagnostic tests, the symptom is caused by the customer?s phone and not caused by the AV control unit. DO NOT replace the AV control unit. NOTE: If an AV control unit is replaced for multi-media issues that can be tested with EMMIT, a printed copy of the EMMIT diagnostic results must be included with the returned unit. See page 2 for more information about the EMMIT tool.

  Front Member Welds ***** Detailed Information ***** On October 26, 2016, Nissan announced a Quality Assurance Hold certain MY2017 Altima (L33) and MY2017 Maxima (A36) vehicles. A repair procedure, parts, and tools are now available to repair these vehicles. Nissan is requesting that dealers enhance the front member weld on affected vehicles using the procedure included with this announcement. The quality hold can be released once the procedure has been performed. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles currently in dealer inventory are affected by this inventory service action using Service Comm I.D. PC502. - New vehicles in dealer inventory can be also be identified using DCS (Sales-> Vehicle Inventory, and filter by Open Campaign). - Refer to NPSB 15-460 for additional information 2. Use the attached procedure to repair the affected Altima and Maxima front member welds. - Nissan has developed an automatic parts shipment plan to ship parts and essential tools (J-52384 - Manual Rivet Gun & J-52385 - Protective Shield) to dealers with affected inventory. - Shipments will begin arriving at dealers on January 27th, 2017. 3. Dealers are requested to remedy any affected vehicle in dealer new or pre-owned inventory prior to sale to ensure customer satisfaction. NOTE: Only dealer inventory units are active in Service Comm at this time. If a retailed vehicle is identified in Service Comm, no action is necessary at this time. Dealers may request a manual campaign closure by emailing [email protected] and providing the following information: - Customer?s VIN: - Dealer Number: - Campaign ID: Note: If a vehicle previously held and sold, there is no need to notify the customer at this time. If necessary, Nissan will contact affected customers.

  PLASTIC INTERIOR TRIM PROTECTIVE COVERING REMOVAL SERVICE INFORMATION Vehicles are delivered with plastic interior trim protective covering on the front and rear seats, front and rear door panel finishers, steering wheel, and sun visors (see examples on page 2). When removing the protective covering, care must be used to avoid scuffs, scrapes, cuts, and other abrasive contact to interior trim components. DO NOT use sharp objects like razor blades, box cutters, knives, etc. when removing the plastic interior trim protective covering. IMPORTANT All soft trim described in this bulletin is on automatic return to NNA. Any trim found damaged in the way described in this bulletin will be charged back to the dealer.

  NISSAN; DIAGNOSIS INFORMATION FOR ABS DTC C1130 SERVICE INFORMATION When diagnosing for DTC C1130 (ENGINE SIGNAL): ECM related DTCs (P-codes) must be diagnosed, repaired, and DTCs erased first. - DTC C1130 is an ABS DTC that indicates an output signal of the ECM is not recognized. - Absent or incorrect ECM signals, that are indicated by corresponding P-codes, may trigger C1130 in the ABS control unit. - Some vehicle features that can be affected by absent or incorrect ECM signals are: - Forward Emergency Braking (FEB) - Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) - VDC/ABS/TCS
