SummarySome vehicles may experience the TCS/DSC indicator light and the TPMS warning light both ON with DTC C0051:62 stored in memory.DTC C0051:62 - The difference between the initial learned value of the steering angle (as calculated by each sensor) and the steering angle (as calculated by the steering angle sensor) while driving in a straight line, has exceeded its allowable tolerance (or threshold). NOTE: For vehicles equipped with the Smart City Brake System (SCBS), the master warning light also comes ON with the message "SCBS Inspection Required" in the display. The symptoms may occur when the following conditions are met: After starting the engine, the vehicle is driven backwards while the steering wheel is turned to the left or to the right or going forward over a bump while turning the steering wheel. The vehicle is then driven forward and begins accelerating while the steering wheel is still turned. To eliminate this concern, the DSC HU/CM software has been changed.

SummaryOn some vehicles, a sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor may be noticed coming from the exhaust system. The odor is usually noticed after a cold start, fast idle, extended periods of idling and full throttle acceleration. Sulfur smell is not an indication of an engine concern and will not cause reduced driveability or durability of the engine or any of its emission components. The sulfur smell or 'rotten egg' odor is caused by high amounts of sulfur in the gasoline being used in the vehicle. Sulfur is normally eliminated during the refining process, but the EPA regulation of sulfur in gasoline differs from state to state. Vehicles using fuel containing high amounts of sulfur will most likely emit sulfur smell from the exhaust system. When high sulfur fuel is burned, there is a chemical reaction in the catalytic converter causing the sulfur to oxidize. As the vehicle is driven, the oxidizing reaction odor in the converter will decrease with mileage and age.

SummarySome vehicles may exhibit a squeak noise from the right front driveshaft at the transaxle when driving. This concern is likely to occur when driving at speeds between 37-50 mph (60-80 km/h) with the ATF at normal operating temperature. The noise is caused by stick/slip between the oil seal at the transaxle and the dust cover of the drive shaft. To correct this issue, the thickness of the dust cover has been increased.

SummaryIn accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer's responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometer and related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the "Speedometer Replacement Label". Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda's vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO's services, it is possible that the odometer will be set between 10 to 31 miles over the odometer mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs. Please make sure that the customer is aware that there may be a slight variance to the odometer, in which case the customer may have to accept the slightly higher mileage. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after-warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense.

SummarySome customers may complain about one or more warning lights ON when they start the vehicle during hot weather. The following DTC is stored in memory: U3000:98 - Forward sensing camera (FSC) stops functioning due to temporary high temperature. The combination of warning lights mentioned by the customer may include: SCBS/SBS LAS/LDWS HBC Master Warning Light Instrument Cluster Multi-Information Display (if equipped) warning messages may include: Forward Smart City Brake Support Malfunction. Smart Brake System Malfunction. Front Camera Sensor System Malfunction. MAZDA CONNECT center display warning messages may include: High Beam Control [HBC] / Lane-keep Assist System [LAS] Malfunction. Have the vehicle checked by a dealer if this indicator stays on. Smart City Brake Support [SCBS] Malfunction. Have the vehicle checked by a dealer immediately. Note: The center display Warning Messages are only displayed when the customer selects Applications>Vehicle Status Monitor>Warning Guidance>Warnings. This condition may be caused by the FSC not being durable enough in high temperatures. [Earlier production Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-3 and CX-5 until summer 2017] The warning lights may stay on and these functions are deactivated until the ignition switch is turned off. Both U3000:98 (FSC) and U3000:04 (FSC) are stored. U3000:04 - Forward sensing camera (FSC) internal malfunction. If only U3000:04 (FSC) is stored, this TSB does not apply. This condition may be caused by FSC control logic that is too sensitive. When the FSC detects DTC U3000:98 during high temperature, it stops the internal communication and stores DTC U3000:04. DTC U3000:04 will not clear and SCBS/SBS, LAS/LDWS, and/or HBC functions will not resume until the ignition switch has been turned OFF even if the temperature of the FSC cools.
