- #11617768October 2, 2024VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, UNKNOWN OR OTHER, ENGINE
My jeep would suddenly jerk forward almost rear ending people at red lights without any warning. While traveling at approximately 45 mph the engine light came on my jeep. As I went to pull over the engine started bucking/jerking then the engine light flashed. I was barely able to pull over on the side of the road before the car completely stalled. I had to have towed to a dealership as it was no longer drivable. I was almost on the highway. The dealership said I had total engine failure and should buy a new car. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I ASSOCIATE THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V552000 (ENGINE) That has been open since of 11/2013. But my vehicles VIN “wasn’t included”. I was driving with my four small kids in my jeep.

CAMSHAFT and CRANKSHAFT position sensors keep failing. I have gotten these replaced at a local auto shop 4 times in the 3 years I've had the vehicle. Each time they're replaced the PCM is flashed but issue comes back a couple days to a week later either when coming to a stop at an intersection or when driving up to 50 miles per hour, the acceleration doesn't work properly and RPMS shoot down to zero and back up. Car has also shut off when coming to a stop under 5 MPH and sometimes starts up again. Engine light and TCS light both come on when either sensor fails, car runs rough or doesn't start resulting in a tow to a shop. This is a huge safety risk and can cause a crash at any time. VIN does not have recall, but has all the issues described in the recall.

- #11611364August 28, 2024WHEELS, POWER TRAIN, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Problems started when the wheel and axel came off the vehicle on a side road 3 years ago. The vehicle dropped a wheel again when crossing the country a month later. Both incidents included my wife and passengers. That at least seems resolved. At 28900 miles or so we have been wrestling for the last year and some with intermittently all the warning lights coming on and now the car will occasionally lose all power while in motion. So we have taken it to the dealership where they say it requires a replacement of the electrical harness. Topping off, the driver seat rest safety mechanism deployed randomly this last week while the vehicle was parked in the driveway.

The head rest on the drivers seat and the passenger seat deployed while parked. There was a broken piece of plastic on the seat that looks like it broke off sometime during the day while the car was parked at work. They did not happen at the same time. The passenger seat happened about a year ago but no one usually sits in that seat.

The component that failed was the front, driver's side subframe. This component and the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The sudden and unexpected failure of the subframe on the vehicle, due to excessive rust corrosion, precipitated a series of hazardous events that significantly compromised not only my own safety but also the safety of others on the road. While driving at a low speed, the detachment of the wheel hub and CV axle joint led to a complete loss of vehicle control. This mechanical failure was further exacerbated by the total loss of transmission fluid, which leaked onto the road, potentially creating a slippery and dangerous surface for other road users. The culmination of these mechanical failures resulted in having been stranded in the middle of a busy intersection, a location where a major freeway on and off ramp intersect with a significant artery of traffic. This situation placed myself in immediate danger, exposed to the risk of collision from oncoming traffic. Moreover, the unexpected presence of my immobilized vehicle in the intersection also posed a significant risk to other drivers, who may have had to make sudden maneuvers to avoid a collision. This could have led to secondary accidents, endangering even more road users. The problem was confirmed by an independent insurance agent, and therefore, the vehicle and failed subframe were inspected by insurance representatives. There were no warning lamps or messages from the Electronic Vehicle Information Center, nor were other symptoms of the problem apparent immediately prior to the failure.

The horn stopped working 4 months after purchase I've had it for a year. It has a hard time accelerating when you're hopping on the freeway. There's also a wiring issue with the rear blinkers and taillight it works for a little bit then goes out off and on throughout the trip.

i have sent in my jeep patriot in few years ago for recall that has to do with airbags issue. jeep patriot just reached 10 year old and now i am getting air bag light every time i turn my steering wheel while parked and while driving it keeps dining every min or less. i was told it may be clock spring in steering wheel and i believe i should not have to replace it being 165xxx miles and just hit 10 year mark. i have been replacing many other parts knowing its part of wear and tear but having to replace clock spring on not so old cars is very concerning for our safety when it comes to jeep my jeep is 2014 and has been well taken care of. i am upset finding there are recalls for wrangler for clock spring but none for patriot. please get back with me with possible fix for this. i know jeep is one of best vehicles to have and i am starting to be worried if this going to be a common problems for jeep.

Head rest Active Restraint System(ARS) deployed on my passenger side front seat for my 2014 Jeep Patriot while it was parked. Looking at the head rest, the bar that keeps the ARS in place and locked in place, broke out of the plastic housing that was holding the head rest in the correct place. When the plastic housing broke the ARS deployed when the car was in park. If this had occured while driving it could have caused significant injury or an accident if the driver side head rest would have deployed while driving.
