I'm very concerned about a safety recalled that has not yet been addressed by Hyundai. Recall Campaign #251; NHTSA Recall #23V651000. I received notice of the safety issue, but the remedy is not yet available. I don't feel safe with the possibility of a fire until this issue is addressed. How long are vehicle owners expected to wait for a remedy?

The contact owns a 2014 Hyundai Elantra. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V651000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Additionally, the contact had taken the vehicle in for routine service and was advised not to drive the vehicle by the independent mechanic who advised that the engine was showing signs of a potential engine failure. The contact stated that the independent mechanic diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

I took the vehicle in for it's regular oil change on 1/19/2024. My regular mechanic stated to me that "the engine is knocking, you need to get it to the dealer so they can fix the issue as it should be under warranty." He finished the oil change and we came home and immediately made an appointment with our local Hyundai Dealer - that appointment is on 1/30/2024 at 9 am. This is an extremely concerning issue as it affects the whole vehicle and the ability of it to be driven and last a long time. No warning lamps, or messages occurred for this issue, only the statement by my regular mechanic. I want to make sure this is documented in case Hyundai tries to get out of fixing the issue. This could be a very expensive problem. The appointment was made for the 30,000 mile service, but I will make sure they are aware of the engine issue when I take it in as well.

Driver's side rearview mirror smashed by vandal. This is because of having to park away from structures due to Hyundai's recall # 251. The original recall notice was apparently dated 9/22/23, but no remedy is yet available. That's 4 months, and it's creating great hardship for me and probably many others. I am afraid to use my car because of possible engine fire and damage to people or other cars--but I need my car.

The vehicle has demonstrated a recurring and dangerous problem of stalling while in operation, without any warning indicators or lights. This fault has not only persisted but has also led to a near-collision incident, underlining its severity. The first occurrence of this issue was when my car stalled unexpectedly during regular driving, with no dashboard warning lights or indicators of a malfunction. After taking the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership, I was informed that the car was burning oil, which had spread throughout the engine. This diagnosis led to costly repairs amounting to $2,500. However, merely two months post-repair, the same problem reoccurred. The car stalled abruptly as I was merging onto a highway, nearly causing a severe accident. This incident was particularly alarming as it happened without any prior warning or indication of engine trouble. I emphasize that I have diligently maintained the vehicle, adhering to the recommended 3,000-mile oil change intervals and ensuring all fluids are regularly checked and replaced as necessary. The recurrence of this issue despite proper maintenance raises significant concerns about the reliability and safety of the 2019 Hyundai Elantra model.

This recall was put into place September 2022, 4 months ago. Nothing has failed yet, but my ABS warning has come up multiple times while driving. I'm not sure if this indicator means the issue is getting worse or not. I got an oil change a few days ago and they stated that my brake fluid was low.

- #11566137January 17, 2024UNKNOWN OR OTHER, VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD
So far since owning this vehicle. I have gone through 7 OEM windshields. I had a 2010 Ford Focus, replaced it with the 2023 Elantra. In 13 years driving the same roads, and only replaced 5 windshields. The windshield thickness needs to be looked into, or what they are made of. Very small rocks are causing the damage, however, what would happen if a much larger rock hit the windshield?

IN OCTOBER 2023, I RECEIVEDS A RECALL NOTICE FROM HYUNDAI REGARDING RECALL NUMBER 23V-651. IT IS NOW JANUARY 16TH AND AFTER SEVERAL CONTACTS TO THE COMPANY I'M CONTINUALLY TOLD THAT THEY DON'T HAVE A FIX AND HAVE NO IDEA WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE. THEY SAID I SHOULD NOT PARK IN THE GARAGE FOR FEAR OF FIRE. I'M PARKING MY VEHICLE OUTSIDE IN WINTER WEATHER FOR THE FIRST TIME IN OVER 30 YEARS. THERE IS ALSO A POSSIBILITY THAT MY CAR COULD CATCH FIRE AS I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS BECOMES ESPECIALLY PROBLEMATIC ON A BUSY FREEWAY. THREE MONTHS WITH NO FORECAST OF A REPAIR IS TOO LONG FOR THIS TO GO UNREPAIRED. BY THEIR NOTICE THERE ARE 13 MODELS AFFECTED OVER SEVERAL DIFFERENT YEARS. THIS AMOUNTS TO 42 MODELS IN ALL. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SITUATION THAT DESERVES HIGHER PRIORITY. I AM LODGOING AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT. THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE, EQUIVILENT VEHICLES FOR AFFECTED OWNERS TO DRIVE WHILE THEY PROCRASTINATE. I'VE ASKED FOR THIS AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW BECAUSE THEY HAD NOTHING AVAILABLE.
