The Multipurpose Camera Unit failed in my 2020 Honda Odyssey. This camera is responsible for enabling multiple advanced driver-assistance systems, including the Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation System (RDM), Adaptive Cruise Control, and Auto High Beams. The component has not been replaced yet and is available for inspection upon request. The failure of the camera disabled multiple critical safety systems while the vehicle was in operation. These systems are designed to prevent lane departures, collisions, and unintentional road exits, especially at higher speeds. With the systems offline, I was at increased risk of collision or lane departure, particularly on highways or in low visibility conditions. This malfunction removed key layers of protection that the vehicle is designed to provide. The issue was confirmed by a Honda dealership on August 8th 2025, which diagnosed the problem as a failed multipurpose camera unit. They acknowledged that this malfunction disables all related safety systems. The vehicle was inspected by a certified Honda dealership technician, but not by police, insurance, or the manufacturer directly at this time. Multiple dashboard warning messages appeared simultaneously one day when starting the vehicle, including: "Collision Mitigation System Problem" "Road Departure Mitigation System Problem" "Lane Keeping Assist Problem" "Adaptive Cruise Control Problem" "Auto High-Beam Problem" These messages first appeared on or around the end of June 2025, and the systems were disabled immediately upon the failure.

- #11683408August 27, 2025UNKNOWN OR OTHER, FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM
Over the last year, recorded 13 incidences where car would not accelerate. (It occurred more times, but I did not record it). I wrote down date, time, weather, gas level, temperature, and what the car would not do. Each incidence was the same - the car would not accelerate, despite pressing down (strongly) on the gas pedal. The car would then jerk forward suddenly. This provided concern and danger as it was often as I was trying to turn off a side road, onto a main road (state highway). This often needs to be done quickly as traffic approaches from both sides. There were a couple of instances when a car was approaching and the vehicle appeared to just stop in the intersection before finally picking up. I have definitely had concerns regarding being hit by oncoming traffic. I brought the vehicle in to Honda to assess in ~May/June 2023. They could not replicate the problem and ended up returning the vehicle without any noted actions. I began taking note of when this occurred starting 6/1/2024, and have 13 recorded incidences.

Can has been making a popping noise that can be felt in the steering wheel for 2 years. Honda has told me nothing was wrong after taking it in 4 times. Now my car keeps stalling at lights, sometimes it takes a while to get it to restart, and they can not figure out why. They keep saying the battery is fine and diagnostics finds nothing.

- #11683153August 26, 2025FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING, FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE: WARNINGS
In August of 2024, I started up my 2019 Honda Odyssey one morning and all the vehicle safety alerts/warnings on the dashboard came on (adaptive cruise control problem, lane keeping assist problem, collision mitigation system problem, road departure mitigation system problem, auto high-beam problem, ABS). I took the vehicle into my local Honda dealership and they ran a diagnostic which determined that the forward looking camera was faulty and needs to be replaced. There were previously no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure of the camera. The dealer's quote to replace the camera was $1,528.99 at the time. Having since researched this issue further on Honda owner forums, this seems to be a common problem with this generation of Honda vehicles. As evidenced by the corresponding warning messages, the failure of the front camera causes an array of vehicle safety issues impacting the driver and passengers, other vehicles and pedestrians. This defect, which is an extremely cost-prohibitive repair for the consumer, should be addressed and corrected by the manufacturer as soon as possible. The vehicle is available for further inspection upon request. Please note that I was unable to select all the applicable Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) under the Problem Parts section of this form.

Engine has been running very rough the last 20k miles, and East Coast Honda in Surfside Beach, SC noted engine bearing wear prior to the rough engine performance during a service visit in May 2023. In June-July 2025 driving on [XXX] driving between Washington D.C. and Surfside Beach, SC, we went to pass and the engine cut RPM's drastically and went into 'limp mode' nearly causing an accident with the sudden decrease in speed. We have asked American Honda Customer Service [800-999-1009] to provide an engine evaluation but they have declined and have stated our VIN is not included in the rod bearing recall/TSB. We did mentioned about the further investigation for 2018 Honda Odyssey's but was advised any action we take would not be compensated since the vehicle is out of warranty by date and mileage (73,000 miles). I In August 2025, I experienced a sudden and complete failure of the forward-facing windshield camera in my 2018 Honda Odyssey, which disabled multiple safety-critical systems. After having new tires installed at Discount Tire in preparation for a road trip, I started my vehicle and was immediately confronted with multiple dashboard warnings, including: •“Road Mitigation System Problem” •“Auto High-Beam Problem” •“Adaptive Cruise Control Problem” •“Lane Keeping Assist Problem” •“Brake System” I took the vehicle to a Honda dealership. They diagnosed DTC U3000:49 — Internal failure with multipurpose camera unit and informed me the only repair option is to replace the camera and perform camera aiming. The quoted repair cost is approximately $2,000. The dealer explained that this failure is “common in hot climates.” If true, this represents a serious design flaw. The Odyssey was marketed as a family vehicle equipped with advanced safety systems, yet a single component failure suddenly disables nearly every major driver-assist safety feature. This is a serious safety defect for several reasons: 1.Safety systems suddenly fail without warning. One moment the systems are working, and the next they are completely disabled. A driver relying on lane keeping, collision mitigation, or adaptive cruise control would be placed at immediate risk. 2.Known widespread issue. The dealer admitted this happens in hot climates, suggesting Honda is aware of the problem but has not addressed it. 3.Unreasonable repair cost. A vital safety component should not have a built-in failure mode tied to environmental conditions, forcing owners to pay thousands out of pocket for safety-critical repairs. 4.Loss of federally encouraged safety features. Forward collision mitigation and lane departure warning systems are strongly promoted by NHTSA itself. Their failure removes protections drivers expect when purchasing the vehicle. This issue appears to be a common defect in Honda Odyssey vehicle

Several people have told me that they hear a banging or thudding heavy sound coming my 2018 odyssey engine. The sound frequency increases as the engine rpm’s increase. I have seen many reports that state that this symptom could lead to a total engine failure which makes the car unsafe and is caused by incorrectly machined crank shafts (oversized). I called Honda and was told there is no recall at the time ( 8/23/25). In my opinion there should be a recalled. There was not warnings presented. Another failure occurred when mice ate the fuel injector wiring. This caused the engine to malfunction . The cause of this failure I have been told was caused by Honda using wire with a soy based insulation which mice eat.

While driving vehicle, check engine light began to flash. Vehicle was moved safely to side of road and turn off. Vehicle was allowed to sit for more then five minutes and started again. no check engine light or other indicators were illuminated. Vehicle was driven another 60 miles when suddenly multiple warnings appeared with a solid check engine light. Vehicle was moved to a safe location and parked. Vehicle was transported to a Honda dealership the following day and was discovered to have metal in the engine oil due to connecting rod bearing failures with grooves worn in the crankshaft.

Honda installed a VCM (Variable Cylinder Management) in this engine which shuts down the back three cylinders to save fuel when the car warms up. You’ll know when it kicks in when you see ECO on your dash. When the cylinders shut down it starts an abnormal wear and tear on those cylinders. High oil consumption, fouled plugs, the need to repair the back three cylinders and misfiring of the engine are some of the problems. Honda did repair some vehicles if they experienced rough running and misfiring on those cylinders because they knew the issue was the VCM. However, when my 2009 Honda Odyssey started having those problems in 2024 they wouldn’t fix the problem and stated it was too late to fix the engine. The timeline, according to Honda, had passed to repair the damaged engine. I never received a recall for this known safety issue. The engine would cut out and the engine light would come on and it sputtered down the road on three of the six cylinders. Honda knew this was a problem but they wouldn’t fix my engine. If I had brought it in years earlier they would have fixed the known problem with the VCM but they wouldn’t deactivate the VCM to prevent it from destroying the repaired engine. The price to fix the engine was over $4200. I feel they should have repaired the engine and then deactivated the VCM by bypassing the the temperature sensor to prevent it from going into ECO MODE VCM. The safety of the occupants was at risk due to the lack of acceleration and the ability to drive the vehicle in a normal manner. I feel a safety recall is justified and the sensor should be deactivated to prevent further damage to the engine.

235/65/R17 Bridgestone Dueler Alenza Plus Right Passenger Tire Saturday, [XXX] approx [XXX] with 6 people (4 were children in carseats) in the vehicle traveling North on [XXX] between exits [XXX] and [XXX] in Middle Lane. Traveling at a speed of 65mph. Driver pulled over safely to shoulder because the 2013 Honda Odyssey Minivan made a loud flapping sound on right rear of vehicle. Driver got out to check and returned to car saying tire had a blowout. With hazard lights flashing driving in slow lane we exited freeway and pulled into the Safeway parking lot to access the damage. A large strip of tire on the inside was hanging off the tire as the tread had separated from the main part of the tire. Driver changed the tire to the donut. Damaged tire was placed in a bag in the rear well of the trunk. Photos were taken of faulty damaged tire. The tire had peeled an inner section of tread off the tire with no warning. America's Tire Rep in Turlock, CA today; August 25, 2025 stated the damaged tire should have blown completely causing more damage and possible injuries. Vehicle has a vibrating shake when you go about 26 to 40 miles per hour like it does not know on what gear to be me I took the car multiple times to the dealership, and after charging me hundreds of dollars they had the face to say it is what it is. That the design of the car. I even called the corporate and no one really cared. I am always scarred that engine or transmission will fail and cause an accident. On the last trip, as I was stuck in traffic, stop and go was hard on this condition as car wants to think on what gear to be.
