My van will stall at red-lights. It started three weeks ago. The car is a year and a half old. The auto- idle stop system is activated. We stop at a red light. Car stops. When we go to start car dings and thankfully has started 3 times. This time, the car made a ding and did not re-start. I was stuck at a now green light and couldn't move. The dash flashed hit the brake to re-start. I did numerous times. I couldn't get the car to switch to park or drive. I tried switching the car on and off and couldn't get it restarted. I was disabled for about 2 minutes before it kicked back on. My kids were in the car and this scared me.

While stopped at a red light- the idle stop engaged, but when released brake to go again, the engine failed to engage and I was not able to go- it then showed up on the instrument cluster to in order to drive- I needed to restart my vehicle. This has happened now 7 times in 9 months. 3 being in the last week.

When I am sitting at a traffic light and the auto engine idle stop gauges it very frequently completely shuts off the engine and will not restart. I will hit the power button to try and turn the vehicle back on, but it won’t work. I have to put the car into park, completely turn off the car battery, open the car door, while sitting in the middle of traffic, and then shut the car door and restart the car. If I do not open the car door, I cannot restart the car. I have taken this into Honda twice to have an evaluated and they “cannot find“ the problem despite their being a bulletin out specifically about this problem. It is now shutting off on me three and four times in a single trip. I was almost in an accident trying to restart my car when a light turned green and I couldn’t get my vehicle to restart as all the cars around me went. This has been an ongoing problem for years.

From the date of purchase, the central display / infotainment screen intermittently turns off or loses connection (Pictures of different messages appearing on the screen attached). When this happens, I lose the rearview backup camera, GPS, radio, and the entire rear entertainment system, for which I paid a significant extra amount. While the vehicle was still under factory warranty, I reported this exact problem during my first and second service visits at Honda Canyon. On both occasions, the service advisor stated they "could not replicate the problem. I specifically asked: "What happens if this gets worse after warranty expires?" Your employee told me verbally that since the issue was documented as in the system, Honda would take care of it without charge. On XXX they did a software update (Invoice attached). After that, the problem got worse. Current situation: The problem has now gotten much worse - the screen is unusable most of the time, creating a safety risk when backing up without a camera. On XXX, I met with Service Manager Mark Wiseman at Honda Canyon. I provided printed photos of the different error messages shown on the screen. I left the vehicle for 10 days. No loaner was provided. Mr. [XXX] told me upon pickup that his technicians drove the vehicle "several times" and were able to see the messages but could not get the diagnostic code they needed. He stated he believes the issue is a device in the rear of the van. However, when I compared the mileage, the van was driven only 0.6 miles in 10 days, contradicting the statement that it was driven several times. Most concerning, Honda Canyon now claims their system shows no record that I complained about this problem while the vehicle was under warranty, despite two prior complaints. This is a pre-existing defect, reported under warranty, and is related to the known infotainment / MOST bus issues on 2018-2019 Odyssey models. 2020 Odyssey Elite multipurpose camera unit internal electronic failure DTC U3000-49. Component is still installed and available for inspection upon request. Failure disabled Honda Sensing safety systems: Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Auto High-Beam. Dash showed Honda Sensing system failure warnings. No crash, no injury. Vehicle remains drivable but without active safety features, increasing risk of crash, especially on highway. Dealer confirmed failure and reproduced it, recommended camera replacement plus ADAS static/dynamic calibration, quoted $2,243. No prior symptoms, no accident, no damage, well-maintained. First warnings appeared Aug 2026 and stayed on continuously. Manufacturer was notified and denied goodwill coverage, stated out of warranty. This is a known widespread defect — same U3000-49 failure documented in NHTSA complaints 11615376, 11584269, 11603801 for 2018-2020 Odyssey, Art's Automotive public statement on pattern, YouTube coverage 2016-2021, and eBay repair market with one seller showing 485 repairs for this exact camera and 111 watchers. Similar to prior Honda backup camera recall. Request NHTSA investigation / recall consideration.

The first problem I came across was Auto start. It always say temporary off because either I didn't press on the break hard enough or the Ac is running. Mostly it off saying it need to be charge and the company already put a battery in the car and it still say the same thing. The other thing that keep happening with the car is the screen that pop up the back camera and also control the air conditioning.it shut off and mos network failed and trun off and it keep going off and on. Im scared imma drive and it gonna shut off while driving already it hard at time using my back cameras since the screen work when it want to. I did talk to the dealership about the car and the problems since they said they check it and it was ok but I'm still having problem. I only had the car for 9 months and the problem start happening 2nd month with the Auto start and 5 months for the mos network fail within me having the car.

I am filing a safety complaint regarding a recurring, severe defect involving the 2025 Honda Odyssey's starter motor and the factory-installed Auto Idle-Stop (idle-stop) system.While driving, the vehicle's Auto Idle-Stop system engaged as designed when coming to a complete stop in traffic. However, when trying to accelerate, the vehicle failed to restart automatically. The engine completely stalled out on an active roadway. Attempts to manually override the system and restart the vehicle using the ignition button failed completely, resulting in an immediate and dangerous loss of propulsion.This defect presents a severe and immediate traffic hazard, as it unexpectedly leaves the vehicle completely disabled and stranded in active lanes of traffic. It strips the driver of the ability to clear the roadway to safety, significantly increasing the risk of a rear-end collision. Multiple occupants, including passengers in the rear seats, were exposed to extreme danger due to this sudden propulsion failure.Despite bringing the vehicle to an authorized Honda dealership, the manufacturer has failed to provide a permanent safety remedy. Also Honda corporate has deny warranty replacement for the starter that’s causing the issue.

Three times in the past week my van has shut off while I was preparing to move forward at a stop light. My car begins to idle as soon as it’s stopped, but when I lift my foot off the brake, instead of turning back on, my van engine shuts all the way off or jerks hard before acceleration. Resulting in me having to hurry and put my car in park & restart the engine. It’s very dangerous!

In August 202, the multipurpose monocular camera failed. My car is a 2019 Honda Odyssey EXL. I was not involved in any accident or incident that would have caused this to fail. When this camera fails 5 warning codes popup: collision mitigation braking system failure , lane keeping assistance system failure, adaptive cruise control failure, road departure mitigation and auto-high beams stop working. The dealer priced the repair at ~$2,100. Many reports are coming up with this failure and it seems driven by overheating of the camera module, a filed camera component, or other unknown reasons.

The vehicle experiences sudden, intermittent engine stalling while idling (either when coming to a stop at traffic lights or while idling in traffic). The engine shuts down completely and fails to automatically restart via the Auto Idle-Stop feature, forcing the driver to manually cycle the ignition or shift to Park to restart. This has happened multiple times since I bought the car at Stevens Creek Honda in September 2025 and have taken it to get it service at Livermore Honda in November 2025 and again in August 2026. The dealer has been notified but the defect remains unresolved, presenting an immediate safety risk of being rear-ended in active traffic due to sudden loss of propulsion.

The van has trouble restarting. This can appear as both a sluggish restart and a complete failure to restart. The van has failed to restart both during quick stops like refueling and during the auto-stop feature at a stop light. When this happens, the driver must completely shut off the van and restart, which is a safety issue when stuck while blocking traffic. The van is having the starter replaced for a second time after the dealer determined the starter was failing. The starter was replaced in 2025 under warranty because the dealer determined the starter was failing. There are no warning lamps, but the starting does start to slow down over time. We missed the slow down the first time until it failed to restart because the onset is gradual. We only noticed the second time because we'd already encountered the issue. The two dealerships we've taken the van to for this issue were both hesitant to do the work, claiming trouble recreating the issue.

A warning for Power Tailgate Problem keeps coming up. It tried to open multiple times while driving, beeping at us. It wouldn’t open with the buttons at all. We had to manually open and close it. This makes the second time it’s done it. And it always has to do when it rains. Honda knows this is a well known issue with their odyssey’s and it needs recalled. The dealership wants us to pay for a well known issue. We had a friend with the same year odyssey and the same thing happened but their tailgate completely opened a few times while driving.

I was stopped at a stoplight. The car has idle stop so the engine turns off at the light. When I tried to go the car went into park. I could not get it back in drive and had to turn the car off then back on. Meanwhile I am stuck in the middle of the road with traffic. This has happened several times before.

multipurpose camera stopped working. no direct physical damage to camera so it shouldn't need replacement after 6 years. others with honda odyssey have reported similar defect.
